Chapter 15 - No Reaction

I rushed into the school doors in a hurry before taking down my umbrella, the rain poured and carried wind as well as splashes of water. I set my umbrella before facing the loud hallway. It was a ruckus with just a few people in it, trying to get comfortable after having a marathon from the rain, the floors were wet too, let's hope the school janitor was here or else someone might fall down.

I slipped. "Ouch!" I landed on my butt, thankfully! Guess I was THAT someone, great!

"You okay?" I heard an amused voice and I hoist my head meeting with hazel ones, my mouth went apart but words didn't come off, I didn't know why I was stunned but I was.

"Careful there, don't hurt yourself," Dace said, giving me a hand. My eyes darted to it but I was hesitant because I knew what might happen, but here he was trying to make contact, I thought he was heedful not to make contact with me.

"Emma"

My eyes darted to him back, that dashing smile against his lips, and then I took it in anticipation of what might happen but…. I was up on my feet with just a pull from him like I weighed nothing. I felt nothing, no sparks, no fire, no hot feeling in my lower region like I expected. Did I hallucinate all that until now?

"Did you hurt yourself?" he asked, suddenly worried about my fall as his big hand slid to my arm and I felt a hot wash of desire falling back to my now drenched panties.

I quickly retreated my hand like his hand burned me. "Y-Yeah just my butt," I said with a forced smile. I thought he might be offended by what I did but I couldn't tell, he was unreadable for a split second but a smile remained.

"Careful, the floor is all wet" he turned to the view. "Almost everyone isn't here yet, did you come under the rain?" he asked as his eyes scanned my body if I was wet, I blushed at his hot gaze raking my body.

"N-No my aunt dropped me, the bus didn't come so she offered me a ride," I said. "Can't exactly skip school, rain is not an excuse"

"Apparently," he said as his smirk broadened, nodding his head. "You can't blame them, though" he began walking and I found myself automatically following beside him, unable to keep my eyes off him.

"They want us to learn at all costs, even our parents don't see the rain as an excuse," he said with a raised eyebrow and I couldn't stop the smile that formed on my lips.

"Every parent wants their children to be studious even if the world is ending"

"Or if the teacher gets sick, it's... go to school and do something with your life or be dependable for the rest of your life"

"Someone gotta pay the bills when they are older," I said chuckling and he followed, it was so wonderful to hear such sounds from him.

"Aren't you gonna drop something in your locker?" he asked, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Y-Yes, right" I turned to my locker we were already beside. Wait… how does he know that this one's mine? Every locker in this hall is identical. I thought I should ask him but I shut my mouth, unlocking it. Dropping my umbrella, and taking some notes, shoving them in my bag, all the while his amused gaze watched me like I was a favorite film he couldn't take his eyes off.

My cheeks tainted with a blush as I adjusted my glasses, closing my locker.

"To class?"

"To class" I muttered.

Our gaze remained on each other, we didn't say a word, the silence was just okay? As we settled on just looking at one another. He helped me with the door, standing taller than it. I licked my lips going inside, my heart slamming in my chest knowing he was still following behind me. Our class had no one in yet, and the only sound was the loud pouring of the rain that seems very heavy now.

"Won't you take a seat?"

I jumped at his sudden voice whirling, he laughed. "Why are you so jumpy?" he asked in bright amusement. "I won't hurt you" his neck tilted to the side, I didn't know why he said that and I didn't know why I answered.

"I know" I muttered but he heard me because his pupils dilated at that very moment. I backed him, finding my way to the fifth roll a roll before the last, taking my seat close to the window, sliding on it, and dropping my bag. He slid to the seat next to me, still watching me with those beautiful eyes of his.

"So tell me, Emma, what kind of girl are you?"

"W-What kind of girl am I?" I repeated his words blinking numerous times and then he chuckled deeply, I would never get used to that sound, it was like melodious music as well as that sweet baritone voice of his.

"Okay" he leaned on his seat, his chest out I noticed was broad I could tell even from the red shirt he wore, it hung his body perfectly. "That came out wrong, I'm sorry," he said in a ragged whisper. "Tell me about you"
