Owen and Joy attended the same school and so had been friends for long. Sometimes, she gives him the respect of a boss and other times like this one, she just speaks informally to him.
"Of course I did do it." He assures digging into his food.
"That is great. You finally stood your ground. Why then dont you sound so happy about it?"
"I drew blood from someone. My own uncle. What is there to be happy about?"
Joy shakes her head. His kindness is why people think it is okay to walk all over him and use him for their own purposes. "It is okay to be like that sometimes too unless your system doesn't allow for it though. Dont be so nice to people who arent worth it." She advices before leaving the room.
Owen watches her retreating back before continuing with his meal.
"She is right you know?" His AI adds. "Everyone is evil at heart. It only depends on how much evil you are willing to let out."
"If you let out evil, it ruins your good nature. Didnt my system make you go to a school?" He hissed and continues with his food.
"No it wont ruin your good nature. If evil ruins your good nature, it must only mean that you were meant to be evil from the start. Perhaps you were just supressing the evil within you. But if you manage to balance your evil with your goodwill, it will make you a perfect person." She sighs and lays on her back on the couch while Owen stops eating and stares at her. "But, is there ever a perfect person? I doubt it." She gives him a small smile.
"Stop saying me. I will never be evil." He assures. The only reason he is able to relate with Owen, the side character and make him his favourite character is because he is also good at heart and although a lot of people have exploited him for his good will, he still refused to let it get to him and make him evil.
Joy knocks the door and walks in without waiting for his response.
She hurries to him with her tab and places it on the table. Playing the video for him, she watches as Owen intently watches the video.
His first uncle, Impenetrable master fox Duurm was talking to the media regarding the issue of Owen coming back from the dead and the rumours that said that they might have tried to kill him.
"I understand that everyone is confused regarding the recent issues surrounding the Duurm family. I will like to apologize to the public for the confusion we have caused and also thank the public for caring about us. As one of the founding families of Ruda nation, we mourn our heart out whenever we lose a person. But with Owen, it is actaully a slightly difficult issue to explain. He has been stressed lately." His uncle drops his voice by an octave and looks slightly sad making Owen sit right and perk his ears on what he had to say. "My poor nephew lost his father, my youngest brother at such young age. It has taken a toll on him and we all at the Duurm family agree that we have our faults in it. We should have paid more attention to him but Ownen is such a considerate kid and is always very kind hearted. It was stress that made him lose consciousness and after we found out his system had stopped working, we decided it was time to let him go and not bother him more." He sniffs and lowers his head.
Someone passes him an handkerchief and he saw that is was his despicable cousin Gary. His eyes were already red with tears as he stares at the camera. As if wanting them to capture his expressions.
Immediately, master fox Duurm returns the handkerchief to Gary and pats his back strongly. "Be strong. Owen wouldn't want you brooding like this."
Owen opens his mouth in surprise as the food he had swallowed suddenly felt tasteless in his mouth.
He stares at Joy and aska her. "Shouldn't these two be actors? Why havent we signed them?"
Joy releases a frustrated sigh. "I know right. Goodness they are something else. Look at that expression."
Impenatrable master fox Duurm turns his red eyed to the camera and continues. "We were yet to bury him because we still had hope. Even though we thought he was gone. We thought he had left us, his cousins refuses to have him buried hoping they would pray to the ancestors to give him another chance." He sniffs again and wipes his eye with the back of his hand. His son pats his back and holds his arm as his father begins to shake with tears in front of the camera.
Gary then takes charge of the microphone. With a shaky voice, he tells the media. "As you can see...we arent comfortable taking about this. We are happy that cousin is back and we hope the public can be happy as well. We will be throwing a banquet soon for the ten families to get together and strengthen our bonds even more. We will also be using the banquet as a means to donate to organisations on behalf of our country and the ten founding families. We hope evertone can cheer us up and help us." He lowers his head and shakea it before giving the cameras a cold look. "One more thing, the Duurm family has never mentioned him as a disgrace. Cousin is one the best things that had ever happened to our family, so we hope people will refrain from assuming these things. The Duurm family is willing to take legal measures against anyone that tries to shame our family." He and his father bow to the media before walking away.
The reporters who had wanted to bombard them with questions, couldn't even say a thing after what had happened. How could they ask an emotional person the questions they had prepared? They had no choice but to pack their things and leave hoping they would get another chance to lunge at the family.
Owen stares at the scene even after it went dark and sighs deeply. He pushes the tab aside and continued with his meal.
"This family of mine, I should probably advice them to join the entertainment industry. When did we speak of any banquet?"
Joy pats his back as she picks the tab and places it to her chest. She reached for her pant pocket and pulls out a small memory card that was carefully placed into a small plastic.
"I looked through your dash cam and I found some very interesting things there." She pushes it to him and pats his back again with a smile.
"You have suffered a lot. This is your time to shine."
