'why couldn't anything be easy,' I thought to myself.
a couple of mutated hawks were flying above the compound and about 2 tanks that were already fighting over turf.
there weren't a lot of bombers but there was a bit of radiation zombies, so I need to stay clear of the area.
while my suit may protect me from it, I will always have to decontaminate every time I come back inside... now that I think about it, it doesn't sound like a bad idea.
it would help me stop spreading the disease and it would keep me clean, and should the time come where I let people inside the bunker, then it would definitely be helpful.
I scouted the base for a little longer before I aimed my weapon and shot down the four mutated eagles. I shot the radiation zombies, or the toxic spitters, and made my way to where the tanks were fighting.
luckily one of the tanks was heavily injured and the other dead. I whistled and bolt did the rest by ripping its head off.
"good boy," I said rubbing his head.
he wagged his tail, barked, then ran in a couple of circles. I scratched him behind the ears as we made our way into camp.
I took any incendiary rounds I found, and all the military tech I could find. since I was going silent and didn't want to waste much ammo I switched to my pistol.
I would use my scythe but I was in a tight space and wouldn't be able to use it. I made it to the comms and I got on.
"any survivors out there," I said releasing the button.
1....2...3... nothing.
"I'm at the military base set up by the tunnels, I cleared the zombies and rippers, are there any survivors," I repeated.
this time there was a response on the other end.
"Hello," a heard a frantic women's voice.
"what's your position," I asked.
"the remaining people had set up a residency at the local hotel. we are fighting to keep this place safe," she responded.
"Where are you," I asked.
"We are on *******," I heard a male voice say.
I calculated the distance between us and realized I could get there in about 7 minutes.
"ETA 7 minutes," I said as I ran towards the hotel.
did I want to save them? no. was I so bored that I was going to save them just because? yes.
I mean in a zombie wasteland there wasn't much to do. it was either surviving, exploiting people's weaknesses to survive, or dying.
I won't lie, there were times when I had to kill people for food, but I never resorted to cannibalism.
the cannibals we're always lurking inside our city and the result of all the missing people. when they first emerged from the sewers, was when the apocalypse was a quarter of the way through.
they didn't hide their intentions of wanting to eat the flesh of humans. their appearance had deformities. crooked teeth, disfigured hair, and usually have crazy eyes.
I arrived at the hotel and began scoping out the place. there was a horde of zombies and a couple of mutated hawks.
I shot down the hawks and moved in with my ice pick. I threw it into the zombie and swept the rest with my scythe.
I approached the doors and knocked and said that the area was clear. the door opened and out came a guy that had on a military suit.
"thank you," he said as he saluted.
"what's the situation," I said entering the building.
"We have a total of 15 citizens, 5 soldiers, and 7 kids," he said leading me into the hotel.
"We have enough rations to last us quite a while however we have no secure way to get food," he continued.
"Have you tried setting up a defensive perimeter," I asked looking around?
"We don't have enough resources to do so," he said.
I looked around and saw a lot of vehicles that could be used for parts to make an electric fence.
"do you guys have a tool bag or any other kind of tools," I asked popping the hood of one of the trucks and taking out the battery.
"there's a couple of tools left by the handyman that was killed when this went down," he said.
"get me those, and if you can get somebody that can help me with what I'm about to do," I said as I began to take apart all the other batteries.
they got a kid about the age of 16 and he helped me set up the fencing but I didn't let him touch the electrical stuff.
I got the fence set up and it will deal with most of the zombies, just not the giant and tanks, but if they are quiet they won't attract any of the big zombies.
I never let my guard down around these people. there was a couple of time when I was going to pull out my gun but it was a false alarm.
that didn't mean I didn't keep my gun ready, just Incase they did try and rob me. not that they could, but just Incase I would have shot everyone in the room.
I slept with one eye open and in the morning I received my reward.
[mission: new neighbors completed
reward:
radio (all channels)
deaths attention (oops)]
I was confused about what it meant when it said "death's attention" when I heard a voice from behind me.
"my scythe," I turned around to find nothing.
I felt something on my throat and I looked up and saw a shadowy figure that looked like a woman holding a blade at my neck.
"give it back," it whispered.
