Chereads / The Proselyte's POV / Chapter 45 - New Black Card

Chapter 45 - New Black Card

"The Streetlight Talon should have probably fully retreated from the centerfold of the southwest Lowstreet. It would be only a matter of time until either the Red Marauder or the Yugen Extra, to fully occupy the area and open the gift that I made for them."

Half an hour passed, and now the blade part near the guard had a gradient orange hue, accompanied with a beautiful energy formation that branches and intertwines within the fiery blue waves pattern of the blade, etching every edge of the raging sea illustration with the same energy veins.

The veins pulsated with blue color. At that time, I'm still interacting with Adust through the synchronization. But the longer I stared at the blade body while doing it, I noticed that the color of the veins kinda represent the tone and emotion that she was conveying.

Theoretically, if I swung or clashed with another weapon with the MIND's vessel, it would generate a surplus of energy. As for what the energy should be used for, that would be up to Adust and my command when the time comes.

Though, it did make the blade hotter. I curiously asked if it bothered Adust, but she replied with the usual no.

"Now, I only need to find some cell recovery technology, and I can easily heal this wound of mine with no biggy."

The Piranha Scars proved to be really effective in corroding my adversaries' weapons into unusable states as the battle went on. The skirmish yesterday felt more smooth because of it.

Though if I'm not careful, it could immolate a human being in less than a second.

It could also kill a mildly enhanced person easily but I didn't use it much for that, as I'm also following my own set of cues to take the lives of those within the files.

"Alright, time to try the firearm."

I did the same thing with the firearm, coating it with Adust's liquid per my command.

With Adust having the information about the ammunition schematic, it could theoretically recreate the process of how guns did its pew pew~

Combined with the fact that it was capable of generating energy on its own, I could possibly turn the whole vessel into a DEW—meaning, Directed Energy Weapon.

It was still, in some way, included within the list of things that were taxed by the Ouranos. But as long as I didn't keep the DEW form by the end of the month, it won't be listed nor taxed as one.

It would be a project for another day, as morphing the vessel would take time and energy, especially the mental energy that a single MIND would expend in a long process of deconstruction and modification.

After all, something wouldn't ever be created from nothing.

And then, after a solid twenty minutes, Adust managed to comprehend the concept of ballistic weapons and its components.

"Good girl, do you want some stew after this."

As the energy veins glow in pinkish light, Adust sent a message directly to my head about her rejection of that idea.

Equipping myself with my casual shirt under an ol' reliable jacket and tie, leather shoes, and the white gloves that I just rinsed as I showered—I went outside to breathe the fresh air of the morning dew mixed with pungent trash.

"A nice, normal, and shitty morning like usual. Though, who are you?"

There was a member of a Streetlight Talon laying down in the hallway in front of my apartment. I mildly hunched, staring at the poor man in his twenties with a brimmed hat under the hoodie. Chances are, he arrived when I fell into slumber and had no choice but to take a night shift in front of my apartment.

I cleared my throat, and lowered my pitch to that of the Cheshire Cat, before shouting, "Enemies inbound! We're under attack!"

"Wha-wha!?" Eyes still closed, he immediately stood up with his double katar brandished. "Miquel of Headlamp 13! Ready to take orders!"

"Wrong, you're currently speaking with the Mediator of the Hunter Gathering."

He sheathed both of his katar back to the holders on his waist and gave me a salute, while his eyes still closed. "Yes, Sir Mediator! I apologize for my misbehavior!"

"Pick your nose!"

"Yes, sir!" He immediately jammed his gloved pinky up into his nose. "Wait, why am I doing this?"

"Awake yet?"

"Ahaha, I hope that you can forget my unsightly manner." Searching for something inside the pocket pouch on his belt, the man pulled out a black card with a golden hexagonal pattern on one of its corner areas. He stroked the back of his neck in embarrassment with the other hand while presenting me the card.

"Don't worry, it will be forever ingrained in my mind."

I took the card and examined the ID numbers and its components. There was an unsatisfactory part of the card that could breach my privacy, so I unsheathed half my MIND and commanded a strain of Tidal Scar to pierce that particular part of the card without damaging its usability, before fully sheathing this spear-like sword.

"D-don't break the card! Or else, the Cheshire Cat himself will personally discipline me!""

"Don't worry, that's just another attempt at trolling you."

"... That's one humor you got there, Sir Mediator." With a nervous smile, he took out a pocket terminal device with four slots of card, a small monitor, and buttons of numbers with the others to either commence a transaction, or check the amount of deposit.

I put the black card on the most right slot. He pressed the appraisal button and the screen went like this:

User: Faust Hecates

ID: 10827268

Balance: 3,000,000 Solus

Password: Unregistered

The device beeped and turned into an empty line where I could put my password numbers.

I inputted 20 digits of it.

"Alright, I guess that's it."

The man waved as he abided his farewell to me, with a nervous face that screamed 'I want to scurry away from here'.
