Chapter 50 - Goons Will Always Be Goons

In quick manner, I recommended the Outpost of the Streetlight Talon on the most west side of this District. For an extra assurance, I gave the man my business card with my extra little note on it in case that he wanted an extra treatment from the Streetlight Talon.

"I appreciate the direction, Sir Mediator."

"Apologize for not accepting your offer, but I'm a little tad preoccupied as of today."

"Heed no mind, and thank you for the recommendation card!"

He abided his farewell as he began to muster more energy to walk a little bit more to the west. As for me, I continued my nonchalant walk throughout the cramped and shady alley of the Lowstreet.

Likewise, he was just a normal man who wanted to live, just like most people here. Fools would die early, but the preserved one would pay no mind to take an extra length, just to have an extra protection from ambushes and looters of the City's veins.

Obviously, a mere sword and shield wouldn't be enough, it could only fend off a group of Crawlers at best. Some looters and small Syndicate may even use hypnotizing devices or a whole set of lethal sorcery tech if their target wasn't prepared for it.

Thankfully, there weren't much of those freaks within the Streetlight Talon's turf.

Speaking of freaks, there were a couple of them, right above my head.

"Well, hello there"

"Tch! Someone noticed us!"

Claws and fiery scythes were brandished. They dived from above to intercept the person that had probably messed up their whole plan on ambushing someone. What a lucky person.

With the help of Adust, the MIND equivalent of knowledge in steroids—the battle only took a while as I swung her to kindly incapacitate most of these overreacting goons.

With every sweep of this spear-and-sword chimaera, Adust was accumulating the energy from the ongoing kinetic stimulant. As of now, I could see that she was currently experimenting with some of those surplus to enhance herself.

I would like to guide her in the right direction, but I already planned another whole session of that in the afternoon after I'm done checking off all of my today's to-do-list.

Oh, and then there was this person with no limbs that was still miraculously alive.

"C-curse you!"

"If only all of you don your suit and tie, doing a proper business, instead of blindly attacking random people that notice you, maybe you can have a better life, no?"

"AAAARRHHHHHGGG!!"

"Next time, get better at hide and seek."

Per usual, there would always be one or two Crawlers that didn't know any manners, and a couple of Urban Myth Syndicates that would never get to a higher level threat because they were choosing the wrong target.

Even though I wanted some casual walk, there would always be an annoyance blocking off my path. This was the reason why I mostly utilized the disparities of infrastructural height of the Lowstreet and the Hive.

I have already committed to walking, guess it would take a while.

And that 'a while' had passed.

"Yep, I've arrived, alright."

With some improvised mask using my own scarf, I approached the crowd near the storage building. People that were curious began to flood, as the members of Yugen Extras tried to keep them away.

Looking at everyone's face, it seemed something horrible had been seen. Whispers and chatters flew in the air, corroding the atmosphere as numerous members were given a path into the entrance of the site.

There was also some member of the Red Marauder, wearing a red tie with a purple symbol of a crossed axe and a red flag inside a circle that had a slight luminescence. Still following the theme of red, they wore a red jacket with some parts layered by a translucent durable sheet of plastic for extra protection. Their uniforms were completed by the long dark-red cargo pants tucked under a set of armored boots

For a Syndicate that had the most violent turf, their appearance was too stylish, if I'm being honest.

One of them was a man with scars on his face that was standing a little bit too far away from his group. I approached him.

"Excuse me, sir, may I know what's happening here?"

"Hmm? You didn't know?" The man bursted into laughter before answering my question with a gleeful smile. "It seems like someone or something have an extremely gory grudge against the Yugen Extra, if you can even see the source of the distraction, that place is filled with the hanged corpses of the poison freaks, and some random Syndicate found about it before the Yugen came, resulting in a nasty gossips that leads people kept coming here."

"Have you seen the inside directly?"

"Indeed! In fact, we managed to come here before the Yugens as they seemed to be focusing on recovering the wounded upon this raid. We even got some photos already spread.

"Kid you not, whoever came with that idea, they are frickin' genius! The Yugen Extra are pissing their pants from fear!"

"That sounds like a fall in reputation for the Yugens." I nodded, acting as if I'm agreeing with this man. "If the Affiliated Offices got this information, the Associations might start to regard another new powerhouse within this District."

"Oh don't worry about that, almost everyone within this part of the District knew." He then pulled out something from one of his belt pouches. It was a stack of pictures, he then fanned it like a deck of cards, showcasing it on his hand. "You look shady as hell but I don't discriminate when it comes to harassing our long nemesis."

It was the pictures of the Headlamp Zero's masterpiece.
