Chapter 33 - Making a Deal Like a Devil

"While we have suffered more casualties in the past, the deed of those who took the lives from those men was not something that could be let alone in the passing of time."

Toronto was the first one to answer.

Sometimes, I wonder how someone could attain that much composure in such a short amount of time.

"Those that were deployed were the ones that had their ability assessed with great consistency. And all of them were nothing but great men who could have a better future within the Streetlight Talon." Tenniel walked a few steps to the side. "If only I was allowed to wreak havoc, I would do so immediately after the report."

Tenniel was the second.

"The Yugen Extras have been putting their arse onto the wrong seat for an annoying set of time. If not for the grin-less Cheshire Cat, their whole organization would already be under the ground of the City."

Gilga was the third.

"As for me, I might be mostly working on the backline of every performance, collecting and sorting all kinds of information about the agents who risked their life for such valuable assets.

"I usually put on the mask of apathy and tell myself that fate has its plans, and everything happens within reason. As for this one, I strongly believe that this incident is given to the Streetlight Talon as to send back a message that's not only work as a warning, but a stigma that will cripple the possibility of more casualties in the future."

Nusa was the fourth

"Mr. Faust, you have taught me that not everyone was led to a certain point of climax within their story by their own choice, as everyone lived in an entirely different life with extra variables from one to the next.

"I believe that it's because those losses were ours to take, I'm heavily obliged to keep the memory of this event in the future as my driving force. Not only as a reminder of what the Yugen Extras have done, but also to prevent such things from happening again with all I have!"

Lila was the fifth.

Five people have pledged their minds to the ritual. One person was enough to give a consent. Two people were enough to shift the blame. Three people were enough to hold a court. Four people were enough to judge.

Five people were enough to plea to the jury for the better or worse.

It was the time to choose the method of sacral fulfillment.

"Well then." I clasped my hand. "I have three creatures that I have in mind. I want everyone here to vote on what kind of animal they liked the most.

"The first one is the raging bull. All they see is red, as they rush to the waving challenger that waved the red cloth. People believe that it's the color of red that is provoking them. While in reality, they are partially color blind like most animals.

"To them, a red cape looks yellowish-gray. It is mostly the threatening, waving motion of the matador's red cape that enrages a bull. Yet, people like to preserve the old fashioned views. Quite beautiful, isn't it?

"The second creature is crows. They are not only mischievous, they are also intelligent! They use tools to solve complex problems, and they remember faces for years and mimic sounds they hear.

"Now, don't you wonder what will happen if they share the words of those who hurt their kin in the most brutal way possible?

"The third creature is a spider! Not any spider, a wolf spider! They not only seek out their prey by creeping on the ground and lunge when the food is in sight, they are also known to hunt bigger prey and only preserve the smaller one inside their silken tent~

"Out of these three animals, which one would you like to choose?"

Tenniel, the White Rabbit, chose the bull.

Toronto, the Cheshire Cat, chose the crow.

Nusa surprisingly chose the spider.

Gilga preferred the spider.

And by proxy, Lila also chose the spider because her leader chose them.

"I appreciate the willingness to participate in my silly question."

"Does this have anything to do with the man hunt, uncle?"

"Who knows." I shrugged. "I will likely implement the result of this voting as an extra thematic."

Without wasting more time, the six of us exited the white space with a clear conscience of the loss of their people, more so after an outside person like me reiterated the psychological value of those possibly recurring events.

With this, I raised the stigma level of that emotional value, boosting their performance of sorting a chronological memory and strengthened that specific area.

One day, they would remember what they have said in that room and it would be etched onto their mind. Although not permanent, it might end up changing things for the better or the worse, even though the chances were minimal.

"Neijya, give your salute to the leader of your Headlamp."

"It's a pleasure to work under you, sir!"

"Don't be too stiff, I won't bite."

"Be careful." Gilga leaned and tried to whisper in Neijya's ears. "Usually, the one who said that is the one that is prone to bite."

Now, I have my little temporary echelon to finish what I offered to the Streetlight Talon. While it might be unsatisfactory to have two premature baggage in an ambush and battle operation, these two individuals won't be that much of a weight with a little bit of education on the field.

Especially with one of them having the lineage of the Lunarian.

Then again, there was also a chance that I'm mistaking her white pupils for the owner of that lineage.

With the comfort tech we have today, everyone can have a white pupils if they have enough money.

Likewise, everyone can also become an Arcadian if they have enough money.

But I'm afraid that I would be belittling the Streetlight Talon when it came to searching for talents.

After that, both Lila and Gilga bid their adieu as their crew that was equipped with the new uniform had already waited for them on the outside.

The White Rabbit went on with his business once again, leaving only the two greenhorns and the grin-less Cheshire Cat accompanying us throughout the hallway.

"Do you have anything you want to request, Phantasmal Leprechaun?"
