Chapter 18 ( Battleground)
Felix
We took about a thirty minute break and just watched the goblin camp beneath us, they are definitely more advanced than the goblins we've faced so far. Gray goblins are carrying daggers, green….still just have clubs, blue have staffs, and oh there's some reds with swords…wonderful.
Rex has been watching the surroundings just in case any goblins are patrolling the area. The plan we've made so far is for him to jump into the camp while I rain arrows down onto gobins we know are more dangerous while he rampages on the weaker ones. The stronger ones being the blue and red goblins, there's no sign of a golden goblin as of now at least. There are six blue goblins and four red goblins. I'll need to pierce their heads to make sure Rex doesn't have to deal with any magic being launched at him. He'll need to keep the attention of all of the goblins, so I don't end up getting swarmed.
So far in all honesty the plan isn't great i'd say. It kinda relies heavily that we're able to one shot them. To give us a bit of a jump on them, I'll be starting the combat with a mana blast hopefully taking out a decent amount of them.
The camp itself sort of helps us, they have wooden walls setup in a hundred by hundred foot squared. They have platforms spread about as makeshift watch towers, the only goblins that are in said towers are the blue goblins, meaning there are six towers setup. They're about fifteen feet high, with a ladder leading up to the platform. Luckily for me all of them are in a range that is very comfortable for me, dumb thing about these watchtowers are…well they can't view the top of this hill. It's kinda just dumb in creation.
Rex and I are now ready to begin our siege of the camp, Rex has already started gathering mana into his body, the obvious sign he's using mana reinforcement, he's decided in this battle that using rage would be a last resort. Alright then…let's get this show started, I gather mana to create the mana blast. As soon as we began gathering our mana, the blue goblins started to acknowledge our presence. Fortunately for me there's a crowd of four gray, two green and a single red goblin close enough together to take on the full destructive power of mana blast.
Just as I launch it towards them I hear Rex mumble" welcome to the hunt" before launching himself into the camp aiming for two red goblins, his axe and dagger in hand. I move down the hill a little bit so that I can aim at the blue goblins hiding in the towers, just as I expected all of them are creating spells to send at Rex. Let's cut that off shall we, I begin sending arrows into the back of two blue goblins, killing them with three arrows, two in the back and one into the neck.
I look towards Rex quickly to see how he's doing and he's doing just fine, both red goblins he launched himself at are lying dead next to him and he's now pouncing towards a group of green goblins. Unfortunate for them, I quickly reposition myself so I can fire at the next two mages. Just before I can begin firing at them they launch their…mana arrows at Rex. Luckily for Rex he was able to dodge them due to him pouncing towards the green goblins. I fire two arrows into the back of the mage's heads taking them down, now I fire towards the last standing red goblin who was beginning to rush at Rex.
I barely miss his head and now they're alerted towards their second threat. Before it could give some form of orders to the goblins around it, an arrow finds itself piercing through the red's throat. Shortly after dropping to the ground dead. With that threat down, I move towards the entrance of the camp so I can get a better position on the last two mages who are trying desperately to hit Rex with anything. Rex being enhanced and with the training he did is just too fast to hit currently, that will only last for another four minutes though.
All of the focus is still on Rex as I enter into the camp, Rex himself has a few slashes on his body, but thankfully far less damage than last time he's been prone to have these after battles. I climb one of the towers and it gives me a perfect view of the other two mages, before they can catch on to me being in one of their dead comrades tower, I send two arrows finding themselves piercing the head and throat of the last two goblins. Before looking for my next target I gather the two arrows sticking out of the dead goblin next to my feet.
Looking towards the battle ground I hear a roar, followed by the sound of clashing metal. Looking down into the field Rex and a golden goblin are in a fierce clash of sparks. Both have mana flowing around them, Rex's blood filled mana clashing with the goblin's golden flow. In a semi equal standoff. Around the ground lay the dead bodies of a green and a gray goblin.
This would be a favorable situation…if it wasn't for the three red goblins and eight green ones rushing to join the fight. Let's make his odds more to our liking. With that thought, I began sending arrows into the rushing goblins… took out the eight green ones and two red ones before the tower gave out underneath me. As I look towards the huts I see two blue goblins both shaking.
