Chapter 13 - Chapter 013

Abaddon.

Azriel barged into my room, his voice a little loud. "Abaddon is here!" He took my hand and pulled me closer to him making my face bump onto his bare chest. I blinked and felt my cheeks heat up, "What- what?"

"I'll explain everything later. Close your eyes now."

"Why? Okay," I replied, complying with his request.

As I closed my eyes, I felt his hands tighten around my waist, holding me firmly in place. My head was still resting on his chest, and I could hear the sound of his heartbeat, steady and strong. Woah, was this what they call feeling safe?

He sighed a relief and let me go, making me want to whine but I didn't of course. Who did he think he was?

I moved my face away and looked at my surroundings. "Oh, the room has...has changed?!" I glanced around, blinking my eyes rapidly trying to process.

"Yeah." He said.

"Well, you don't just say yeah! You explain it!"

"Magic." He said his one-worded answer.

"Magic? That's it?" I glared at him, frustration seeping into my tone.

But he remained unfazed, his gaze steady and unwavering. "This hut is made of magic," he explained. "It can change its form and transform the rooms. It's kind of like a secret hideout."

I nodded, my eyes darting around the room in wonder. Leaves hung from the ceiling, their vibrant green hues casting a soothing glow around the space. And as I glanced out of the window, I saw snowflakes falling gently to the ground. My heart fluttered with amazement - how was this possible?

But then I noticed something even more incredible - a bed in the center of the room, surrounded by glass windows and adorned with white sheets. It looked so beautiful, so serene, so...perfect.

"This is...wow," I murmured, my voice trailing off.

As I turned to face him, my heart racing with a mixture of awe and confusion, I couldn't help but notice the intensity of his gaze. His eyes were fixed on mine, unwavering and piercing, and for a moment, I felt almost exposed.

And then he spoke, his voice a low rumble that sent shivers down my spine. "I know," he said, his gaze still locked onto mine.

For a moment, I couldn't find the words to respond. I was too caught up in the way he looked, the way his dark hair fell across his forehead and the way his eyes seemed to hold an infinite depth of emotion.

For as long as I stared, I noticed how good he looked- really good. So I averted gaze to normalize the rush of emotions I got.

"Um- How long will we stay here?"

He moved to the bed and sat there. "I don't know. When Abaddon goes away."

"Okay..." I yawned, sleepily.

"Are you sleepy?"

I nodded lazily.

"You can sleep," he said, his gaze never leaving the room. "I'll keep an eye out for any danger, if any, here."

My heart fluttered at his words, his concern for my safety not going unnoticed. I couldn't help but wonder - what was happening to me? Why did my heart keep racing every time I was around him?

But before I could even process these feelings, I found myself nodding in agreement. "Okay. So I can sleep on the bed here?" I asked, pointing to the pristine white sheets.

"Yes," he replied, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Okay," I murmured, feeling awkward and unsure. I crawled towards the bed, feeling the soft sheets against my skin as I lied down. With a deep breath, I closed my eyes, letting the exhaustion take over as I drifted off into a peaceful slumber.

AZRIEL

As I sat there, my eyes scanning the room for any threats, my attention was continually drawn to Selene. She lay there, sleeping soundly, her breaths coming in soft, even puffs. For a moment, I couldn't help but marvel at her peacefulness, at the way she seemed to radiate a sense of calm that was so unlike her. If she were awake, she would be blabbering some nonsense.

But as I watched, her mouth fell open, and she let out a soft snore. I couldn't help but chuckle at the sound, the way it seemed to break through the silence of the room.

As my gaze roamed over her, I found myself drawn to the small details - the way her eyelashes brushed against her cheeks, the softness of her features, and the rosy hue of her skin from the cold.

It was only then that I realized she wasn't covered by anything except for her clothes. With a sudden surge of protectiveness, I grabbed the white blanket that lay nearby and slowly draped it over her, tucking it in snugly around her body.

I hummed and lied down beside her with one arm behind my head and soon I felt my eyes closing.

The warmth of the room and the sound of Selene's soft breathing soon lulled me into a state of relaxation. As I lay down beside her, I couldn't help but hum softly to myself, the tune soothing and melodic.

With one arm behind my head, I gazed up at the ceiling, the shifting colors of leaves hanging, looking mesmerizing. But as I stared, my eyelids grew heavy, and soon I found myself drifting off to sleep.

The last thing I remembered was the sensation of Selene's warmth beside me, the sound of her gentle snores mingling with the hum of the room.

SELENE

As I slowly came to, I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of comfort and contentment. The warmth of the room enveloped me like a soft, cozy blanket, and for the first time in what felt like ages, I felt completely at ease.

But as my mind cleared, I suddenly realized that something felt... different. It took me a moment to process what it was, but then I felt the weight of an arm wrapped securely around my waist, pulling me close. The warm breath on my nose and the rise and fall of the chest beside me were unmistakable signs that someone was sleeping beside me.

With a jolt, my eyelids flew open, and I saw Azriel's face just inches from mine. What the fuck what the fuck what the fuck. My eyes were wide as panic surged through me, and I couldn't help but blush at the realization that we were sleeping so close together. But despite my initial reaction, I didn't move. He looked so peaceful, his features relaxed in sleep, his breathing deep and even. He had a slight pout on his lips which made my lips curve upwards. This was all so new.

I felt his body shift and I panicked yet again.
