Knock! Knock!
"Enter"
The door was opened, and the arrogant guy who came to call Isaac and Isaac entered the room which could be called the VIP room. The room was way smaller but more luxurious than the 150 meters big room where all the refugees were gathered.
The room was 30 meters in size. The walls of the room were decorated with gold and other precious metals.
Walking into the room, Itsuki found Aleesia the very same woman who gave Isaac the healing potion sitting on a chair in a corner of the room. Aleesia glanced at Isaac for a moment before closing her eyes as if she didn't care about the man that she bought back to the shelter.
There were other figures sitting on chairs all over the room. Isaac could feel almost all of the figures sitting in this room were cultivators with only a few of them being normal humans. Some of them were in the low phase of silver rank while a few of them were so powerful that even Isaac couldn't sense how what level they were in. Aleesia was only of those few powerful beings.
Above all, there was a certain figure whose Aura forced Isaac to divert his attention on him. This man was a 6 feet tall giant, had a muscular body and was wearing golden armor, pants, and helmet, and was resting his sword on his lap.
This man had a sharp and strong gaze like a wild animal. His black long hair seems to give him a fierce wild Aura. This man, even without anyone telling Isaac, knew that this man was the leader of the shelter. From looking at his warrior face, Isaac knew that this man was someone in his prime.
"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Xavion Payne, also known as The Southern Guardian of EastFox city." Even if Xavion hadn't chosen to introduce himself, Isaac would have guessed his identity from the Aura that the wild warrior nicknamed the Southern Guardian of EastFox city had. Isaac has seen warriors with this kind of Aura before.
When Isaac was still living in the castle, he had seen many warriors who had the exact same Aura as Xavion Payne. In the Aetas Empire military, there was a special type of group of warriors.
This group number was small but this group was undutifully very powerful and known for this honor. It could be said that this group had the power to destroy the Aetas military troops alone.
This group was famously known as the Guardians of the Aetas. Each individual who is part of the Guardians of the Aetas is extremely loyal to the Aetas Empire. This group was created by Isaac's grandfather. The guardians were said to be the most loyal and faithful warriors of the Empire.
Each member of the guardian held the power of Gold rank and had the Aura of a wild animal. It was said that when special individuals are recruited from the Aetas kingdom troops they are made to go through deadly training that causes their Aura to change. Each member of the Guardian has to go through fire and water to prove their loyalty to the Aetas Empire. The training was so brutal that there were incidents where some soldiers who couldn't bear the brutal training killed themselves to escape the nightmare.
Isaac's father when he ascended the throne, decided to give 5 guardians to each noble house. It was rumored that King Liam did this to please the noble houses and maintain peace in the Empire.
The nobles took advantage of that and Xavion is the result of that. Isaac believes that his father made a big mistake by giving way their strongest military group members to serve noble houses. This move not only has made the noble houses stronger it also has made some noble houses bold just like the EastFox city's noble house, Aleesia's father.
"I am Isaac, Isaac Noah." Isaac ultimately chose to lie since revealing his identity in a place where everything looked suspicious won't do him any good. Leaving Xavion aside, Isaac couldn't trust anyone sitting in his room. Isaac didn't even trust the woman who gave him a healing potion that restored his health.
Xavion felt that he has seen Isaac somewhere before but he couldn't remember exactly where. Xavion folded his arms on his chest as he observed Isaac for a moment before asking. "I haven't seen you in this city before. How did you come to Eastfox city." Xavion looked at Isaac in suspicion.
Isaac couldn't tell Xavion and others in the room that he teleported 10,000 kilometers away right before the apocalypse. If Isaac tells them the truth, then these people might find it an excuse to kill Isaac. Right now, Isaac's top priority is to get stronger and leave this city as soon as possible. Isaac needed to go to his given territory and take advantage of the chaos to become the King of that place. Isaac feared that if he is too late, then some other people might take advantage of that to become the ruler of that region. Before Isaac didn't have that much hope of ruling the desert region but after the evolution system came, Isaac's mindset also change. Isaac knew that he would need a strong army to go against the Aetas Empire. Isaac was sure that it won't be long before the Aetas Empire wipes out the zombies from their territories.
The Heart of ice skill allowed Isaac to keep his emotions under control, otherwise, his past self definitely would have panicked under such a pressuring situation.
Without changing his expression and without even wasting a second, Isaac replied. "I am a wandering cultivator who came from one of the neighboring kingdoms. When this whole crazy event began, I was a few kilometers away from reaching this Eastfox city. I knew that staying in the wild wouldn't be safe not when the whole world has gone crazy. I was about to enter the city, unfortunately, I came to face the guards who now had turned into zombies."
"I almost died fighting the gold rank guard zombie. I somehow managed to reach the slum area after being injured. If it wasn't for Aleesia, pardon my offense, I meant lady Aleesia, I would have died." Aleesia couldn't help but smile seeing how good Isaac's acting was. Others might not know it, Aleesia knew how cold and ruthless Isaac's eyes were when she first meet her.
Aleesia was sure that Isaac was lying and pretending to make Xavion believe in his words. Isaac's words have caused Aleesia to become more interested and cautious of Isaac. She now began to think of Isaac as a snake who changes his skin according to the situation.
Everyone found Isaac's words convincing and believing, the only exception being Aleesia. Xavion nodded his head as the wild Aura that he was emitting from his body decreased towards Isaac.
"Isaac, before I say anything else, first let me explain a few things."
"This shelter was built for emergency purposes. Now that the whole world has fallen into chaos and with zombies roaming everywhere, we have no choice but to stay here with the survivors."
"We cannot go beyond the second wall as the zombies of that area are very powerful. Even I will have a hard time taking care of them. I don't think we currently have the strength to fight out way beyond the second wall with the refugees. We have no choice but to stay in the slum area till our Lord, the leader of this city comes to the slum area." Isaac secretly frowned noticing how much respect Xavion gave to Aleesia's father. This could go up to become a problem in the future. While the cold look on Aleeisa's face increased and her eyes dangerous chills, threatened to kill anyone when Xavion mentioned her father's name.
"The only thing that we can currently do is, keep killing the zombies in the slum area and being more refugees. I believe it won't be long before our Lord comes and reunites the whole city. In order for the city to thrive in this chaotic world, we will need labor forces." Hearing Xavion's words, Isaac now finally understood why he was willing to bring poor slaves and peasants to this shelter. Xavion wasn't doing this for kindness. No, he was doing this to have a labor force to rebuild the city after Aleesia's father comes.
'Hypocrite dogs. Who would have thought that the mighty and respected Guardian group member would be reduced to becoming a dog of the Greadsorn noble household? How ironic is that.' This all happened because King Liam neglected his duty and let the nobles grow too much powerful. If King Liam had kept the nobles under constant checks, then the Aetas Empire would have lasted longer. Because in the future, Isaac was sure that the Empire would fall mainly due to corruption. There was even a chance that using this chaotic situation, some nobles might declare themselves as rebels and start their own Kingdom. This type of thing has happened many times, the history books are the proof of that.
