Without even pausing to rethink, I dive into the lagoon, taking swims towards the area I had seen the baby creeping to. I can't believe the boat driver was nonchalant enough to let himself fall asleep when he was supposed to keep a watchful eye over the baby.
And due to my ill-judged jumping through the boat railings, I twisted my ankle and dislocated my elbow. Something which would take half an hour to get fixed back to normal.
But I don't let this slow me down, I keep swimming, in search of the baby. Ignoring the voice of Cahill as he calls out to me. Because I don't care at this point, the baby needs saving, it must have stayed in the water for over two minutes and I hope she doesn't drown.
She's so fucking small and fragile, can barely stay up for twenty seconds.
