Two hours later…
Seth approached an inn with a cloak he just bought. Robbing the thugs proved to be an excellent decision. While they did not have a lot, they provided him with five Lunar Ryi Bronze Coins, the currency of this world.
When he took the coin pouch from the dead corpse, he didn't know the name of the currency. He just knew it was money!
However, the thugs were "kind enough" to tell him the name of the currency.
Anyway, before coming here, Seth purchased a cloak from a store with three ryi-bronze. Now, he was down to two ryi-bronze.
He entered the inn casually. Whilst the humans in there stared at him curiously, he ignored them and walked closer to who he suspected to be the manager.
"Hello, Miss. I want a room." Seth went straight to the point.
The old lady at the counter said, "Ooh, a strange customer. Very well. What type of room do you want?"
"The cheapest one."
"That will be five ryi-bronze." The old lady announced.
She brought her hands forwards, expecting Seth to drop the price on them.
"Uhh… about that. I-I-I don't exactly have that amount with me." Seth struggled to speak as his face turned red.
"Well, there's no room for you then."
"Wait a second. Surely, we can work this out. I have three ryi-bronze coins. I can do anything to compensate for the remaining ryi-bronze coins." Seth's eyes beamed as he spoke. The green in them reminded the lady of beautiful green grasses.
He thought to himself. 'I hope this works. I hope this works. My eyes are shining, right?'
Vampire persuasion was a common trait of vampires, according to Rhazien Az Mor's memories. They could strike deals that seemed impossible. The best of them could even manifest a sort of hypnotic ability.
Seth hoped he was doing this right. All he wanted was to convince the lady to have pity on him.
"Hmmm… Okay. You can stay in our cheapest room, but you have to clean the inn every night for two days." The lady gave him her response.
Seth was tempted to curse at her, but he buried those feelings in him and thanked the lady. "I can't thank you enough, Miss. Do not worry. I am good at cleaning. By the time I'm done with this place, there will be no single dust here."
"Hehehe, I will hold you to that." The lady giggled.
She signaled for one of her workers to come.
When the worker appeared beside Seth, she spoke, "Darla, take this man to the fifth room."
The worker nodded in compliance and grabbed Seth's hand. Before they could leave, the old lady asked, "Oh. I forgot. What is your name?"
"Rhazien," Seth replied.
Since it was technically a game, he needed a game-like name. Being the name of his other half, Rhazien seemed more appropriate than his second choice; Dark Lord Zero.
The worker picked up her pace as she went up the stairs. Seth calmly walked behind her. They soon reached the second floor, where the worker directed Seth to one particular room.
"This is where you will be staying." The worker said right before leaving.
"Geez. Talk about customer service."
Since they already handed him the key, Seth opened the door. The room was murky, with only one window. It was too narrow, only able to fit a bed and table, but luckily it had a bathroom which squeezed into its right section.
Immediately after Seth entered the room, a robotic voice sounded in his head, coupled with two dimensional-panels.
『Traveller 2.5 has found a shelter. Registering shelter as a safe place. Registration complete』
『"Log Out" option available』
『Traveller 2.5, do you want to log out?』
"....."
Seth spoke without thinking, "Yes!"
Finally, a white light blinded his eyes and his mind went blank.
.
.
.
.
Before he knew it, he was back in his condo, on the chair he slept on before the entire ordeal occurred. Seth lay on it again and gazed at his decorative ceiling, without actually thinking of it. His mind was elsewhere.
"Whew. What a day."
He spoke out loud, "Bingo, how many hours have I been in this position?"
[You have been asleep for an estimated five hours.]
"Yeah, it makes sense… somehow."
Now that Seth was with no trouble, he could reassess his situation.
He got pulled into a game. This game was so realistic and full of death flags. His first experience in the game was what he believed to be his soul getting wrecked by a cosmic beast.
The only way to save him was to merge his soul with a soul of a similar state; Rhazien Az Mor, a vampire who died in the Pit. The Pit dissolved vampires until they were nothing but suitable materials. Rhazien saw the true state of the Pit.
Anyway, now he had memories of Rhazien that seemed to just fit in his mind. Sometimes, he acted like the noble vampire. Even his current reassessment of his situation was a habit of Rhazien.
However, this advantage doesn't come without a demerit. As it turns out, Rhazien's appearance was strikingly similar to the cursed race of the game world; elves and half-elves. So, if he was not careful, he would be captured again and used as a slave.
"I need to think. The game is clearly more than just a game. The fact that I can still view myself as Rhazien even after exiting the game is enough proof. Now, what do I need to do from now on?"
"I don't plan on quitting despite the mysteriousness of the game. I was promised a wish if I completed the game…"
This was where things got confusing. He did not know what completing the game meant. How was he to do that?
He had to find it. With a wish, he could make up for all his wrongdoings. He could heal the rest of his family that slept in a comatose state back at the hospital.
"F*ck, this is… Wait. I get it now. Simply put, it is a game, a VR MMORPG. I just need to follow the story of the game and end it. When I log back in, I will have to search for clues and identify the main story." Seth concluded.
He jumped out of his chair and went into his bedroom. Sitting on a chair in his room, Seth grabbed a book from a nearby shelf and jotted the key points in his analysis.
He spoke to himself as he wrote, "This is ultimately a game. There is a guide and a tutorial quest, which is f*cked up by the way. I have completed the tutorial quest and was gifted the guide called System Guide."
The System Guide was the series of information that appeared in his mind when he was captured by those slave traders, aka adventurers.
"Let's see. If I think about it hard enough, I can find the information I need. I will start with the basics. Stats!"
