"Good day, sir."
It was a busy day at the town's gate, but the man stationed there still took his time to greet his superior.
The man gave him a strange look when he noticed the mud on Seth's face and hair.
Seth raised his voice. "Why that look? Do you have a question for me?"
"N-N-No, sir," quickly replied the man.
He belonged to a different squad, a relatively new one. So, when he saw Seth garbed in a veteran gate-guard outfit, he panicked and acted weirdly.
'I am a fool.' The man mentally facepalmed.
While he was scolding himself, Seth had sneaked into the town before the guard noticed anything strange about him. For instance, why does his armor seem too big for him, or why does his ear seem long?
After entering the town, Seth paid no attention to the medieval spectacle and kept on walking until he was sure that the guard wouldn't be able to find him.
He ignored the strange looks that the people around gave him. Instead, he finally gazed at his surroundings.
'Wow. So, this is what the old times look like? But there is something more…' the interior of the town mostly amazed Seth.
The buildings were similar to the ones he saw in the ruins, but these appeared to be more developed. The materials were fresher, and knowledge of the architects had grown over time.
Even the roads weren't paved with stones, as he would expect. As he walked on them, he could feel a particular solid material that was used to coat the roads. He noticed it absorbed the sounds of his footsteps and made it smoother for him to run.
"What the f*ckery is this?" Seth wondered, but he couldn't reach an answer.
While Seth wandered around the town, someone approached him. He didn't feel the person's presence until they got close to him.
"Oh, Albert, my love. I have missed you." A dainty set of arms grabbed him with such ferocity that he struggled to break him.
After a few seconds, he stopped his struggle, partly because he could feel a pair of soft jugs caressing his chest. It was such a good feeling that he wished he could stay like this forever.
He thought, 'If not for this damn armor, I would have had a more pleasurable experience.'
Seth finally looked at the lady that hugged him.
'Pretty.' Seth almost spoke his thoughts.
The lady had honey hair and orange eyes that mixed well with her strange bearing. Even while she acted docile, somehow, Seth knew that hidden in her was a wild beast.
It felt strange seeing her in a long dress that was quite loose from the waist region to below. However, it still displayed her less than moderate bust, which, even while lacking, Seth still found alluring.
Seth revealed a perverted smile as he placed his hands on the lady's waist and drew her closer.
"Oh, my lady. I have missed you, too."
Whatever this misunderstanding was, it was a gift from heaven. There was no need to reject such a gift.
Placing her head on his chest, Seth went on to caress her waist.
Her body jerked instantly. She moved back, and a look of horror dawned on her face.
"You are not Albert. Who are you?" asked the lady.
She didn't wait for an answer. She dashed away from Seth, disappearing into the crowd of humans that were now staring at him.
'What was that about?' Seth scratched his muddied face as he thought.
He suddenly felt light. "Wait.. wait.. wait!"
Fondling around his body, Seth realized his feeling was right. He indeed had one less item. The item he had robbed from the gate-guard he killed. The item that made him feel reassured when he walked into the town. His coin pouch!
Putting one and one together, it was clear now. He had been robbed.
'Fucking b*tch. Sh*t, she stole my coins!' Seth screamed in his mind.
He was so close to tears right now.
How was his first experience in this game so bad?
Was he simply unlucky, or were the game developers godly douches?
Seth slowly walked out of the spotlight and entered one alley. He sat on the ground and contemplated what had just happened to him.
Originally, before entering the Town of Cravel, he had a plan. First, he would disguise himself as a gate guard, which would prevent the other guards from blocking his entry.
He didn't know if it would work, but it did.
After that, he would use the coins he had found on the corpse of the gate-guard to buy a new set of clothes, preferably a cloak to hide his special appearance, and book a room at an inconspicuous inn.
A perfect plan by an exceedingly smart man.
Yet… this happened.
"Ahhh!!" screamed Seth.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here? A gate-guard. What's wrong? Your wife kicked you out?" A snarky voice sounded from across the alley.
Seth found the origin of the voice. It belonged to a man with dirty beards, sleepless eyes, and rag clothes. Beside him were three other young men with a similar homeless appearance.
The main thug flashed his crooked teeth, "Well, speak. Cat got your tongue?"
Seth gazed at them with cold eyes, powered by the frustration of his recent loss.
"If it isn't the omnipresent bullies. I knew I would meet you guys here. Please do me a favor and f*ck off." Seth hissed while rolling his eyes.
"Bastard, what did you say?" One of the side men clenched his fist and approached him.
Seth was without fear as he spoke. "I don't know about you, but I think this uniform gives me some sort of protection, doesn't it?"
He purposefully pointed at the region which held the crest of Cravel.
"Tch! You can't hide under that suit forever!" The side man stopped and contemplated inwardly. He soon moved back, clarifying that the armor served as a good deterrent to hostile forces.
Suddenly, Seth had a thought in mind.
"Wait… wait. Don't go. I'm sorry. I have a question." Seth called them out before they could leave the scene.
"What is it?" asked the main thug.
"You guys do the whole stealing stuff, right?" Seth smiled as he asked.
"Bastard, what did you say?"
"No need to deny it. I know it. Bullies always steal from their victims. I'm not here to reprimand you."
"Well, spit it. What do you want?" The main thug glared at him.
Seth stood up and moved closer to the thugs.
From the perspective of the thugs, his body turned into a blur. A fist appeared in the face of the main thug. The man couldn't react quickly. His body plummeted to the ground in the blink of an eye.
The side men exclaimed in shock, "What the fuck?"
Meanwhile, Seth revealed a sneaky smile. He stomped his right foot on the main thug's face and addressed the others.
"I will make this quick. Give me all your money. Now!"
