Chapter 1 - What a Day

Never in my life was I ever alone. I remember the time when I had a pack. They meant everything to me and I was the Alpha's daughter. No one treated me with disrespect as I was also born to be an Alpha. It was such a nice time, too bad that everything changed.

Me: SHIT!

I was on the run once again. The world of the supernatural was different. There were werewolfs like me, Vampires that hide in caverns as well as Elves and Fairies. We had our own rules and with them we never put our nose into the others business. It was a peace treaty that was form so so long ago.

HAH!

As if that was explaining why I was currently on the run from some Vampires.

I wish I could just transform and run into my wolfs form. I could even beat their asses. It wasn't as if I was a powerless. As an Alpha I could easily stand my ground and I would also be able to protect myself. Still... This was something I was not allowed to do. It was a rule we from the supernatural all knew to well. We were not allowed to show the human kind our true nature.

Me: Why me?

This was why I was running down this street as fast as I could with some Vampires following me. It was the same for them too. I wasn't allowed to shift and they were not allowed to use their full speed and strength to get to me.

'Come on Ember think!', I said to myself.

There wasn't really a way out of this situation. It was ridiculous to beginn with.

'Why did you had to run into them?'

'Why is your luck so damn great?'

Well I didn't know the answer to these questions but what I did know was that the vampires were not the reason I was packless. It was the current King of the Alphas and all I wanted was to get rid of that man. He was a fake, a fraud. A man who came to be the King right after he slaughtered the Queen and my mother and father who where the king and queens bodyguards. My whole pack lost their lifes just because we were standing behind the royal family.

'If only my parents never devouted their lifes serving the royal family...'

'Not that I can blame them. My fathers brother was the king after all.'

'But I will avenge your deaths!'

'I promise! I will restore our wolfs pride!'

I survived by a hair's strain. It was luck or a curse. For me it felt like a curse. Each day I waited for my wolf to go insane. I was so close to lose it all. Without a pack, I felt not only powerless but I yearned and grieved for the loss I encountered. I loved my pack and they were all family to me. Now I had no one to safe me anymore.

???: STOP THAT WOMAN!

As if anyone would dare to do that. Humans were not stupid. Why would anyone even help out? They all look out for themselves. They were not like us.

'HAH! Dream on!'

'You think anyone gonna stop me?'

'As if they could even do that!'

I ran and ran in this unfamiliar city I just came in. There was a reason why I was running away or why these vampires were chasing me and it all was connected to the one contract I had with a client. You see, I was a thief. A wolf like myself had no place in the human society. I was wild and I was close to becoming crazy. Not only that but I was looking for every oportunity, planning years since the current wolf King murdered the royal family and my pack as well as my family. I wanted to kill him. I wanted to see that man suffer and lose everything like I lost everything in a day.

'I knew I shouldn't have accepted this job!'

'Why did I even break into a vampire cavern and then went ahead to steal the queens blood ruby?'

'Gosh, I really was insanse for accepting this!'

'Not as if I didn't had enough troubles already!'

As I was running through the city, I managed to pick up the sent of wolfs. This was a bad sign. It wasn't only bad but it was terrible. I was a rough one, packless and an alpha by blood. No one besides us wolfs could tell the others rank and if there were packs around then that meant I needed their permission to be in their territory. This was quite bad indeed.

Me: Damn it!

'Oh no...'

'This is bad...'

'WHY!'

'Out of all places... Why did I had to cross their paths?'

I could smell more than just one trait of wolf which meant that I really just entered a packs territory. This was either a good thing or a bad thing. I couldn't quite decide which one it was since now I didn't had the vampires chasing after me anymore but I had to hide my presence immediately.

'What do I do now?'

'I have to hide my scent and fast!'

It was only after I lost the vampires that I stopped running and started walking to the next motel. I needed a room and I needed to conceil my scent. If any wolf was about to smell my scent then that would be bad. I would be in soo much trouble considering the fact that I had no intentions to bow down to any wolf.

Me: *Sigh* This better be worth it.

Thankfully I found a motel very quickly and went inside. It looked quite shaby from the outside and the smell that came from it was horrendous. I could smell some bleach in the air which never was a good sign but it was enough to conceil my presence here.

Me: One room please.

I could tell that the guy behind the counter did't care about their costumer at all since he didn't even look at me at all. He didn't even said a thing all he did was take the money I put there and give me a room key.

'At least he seemed not to care about the customers.'

'He surely won't rat me out.'

Not long after I entered the room, I locked the door and threw the ruby necklace on the bed. This piece of jewelry was the reason I was in soo much trouble.

Me: Who am I kidding... this is soo not worth it.

It certainly wasn't the first time for me to break into a cavern but it was the first time stealing soemthing from a queen. Normally I would steal some easy stuff from guards or the members or even the market they had for their kind exlusive. They had some good weapons. The elves on the other hand were good at making potions and medicine. The fairies where quite useless since they were mostly beauty queens and arrogant. Oh how I hated them.

As I was looking at the thing on my bed and starting to get ready to just take a shower and chuck down this potion that I had from the elves that could conceal my wolf traits, all of the sudden my phone went off.

Just one glance at it and I had a big thrown on my face. It was the client I was stealing the jewelry for and needless to say it was a fairy too.

Me: How can I help?

Client: You damn dog can't do anything right! Where is my ruby?

'Did he just call me a dog?'

'Is he tired of living?'

'Oh wait till I am done with you and then I will sell information about the ruby to the vampires.'

'This should teach you a good lesson too!'

'How dare you call me a dog!'

Me: Sir, I am sorry I couldn't bring it over at the time and place we agreed.

Client: I was told you where the best in this but you are just a dissapointment.

'Oh sorry that stealing something from the queen isn't as easy as stealing candy from a child?!'

'Why not go for it yourself?!'

'Dissapointment...'

Now that was something I hated to hear but still I couldn't let my emotions have the better of me and so I gritted down my teeths and breathed in and out to calm myself down.

Me: Sir, I promise you that I have the iteem in question with me. I just didn't make it to the appointment.

Client: I don't care what you do! NOW MOVE YOUR DAMN FLEAS INFESTED ASS OVER! YOU HAVE AN HOUR TIME!

'I HAD IT WITH YOU!'

Me: LISTEN UP!

...

Me: Hello?

...

Me: ... I can't believe he hung up on me...

These last words were all the client said before ending the call. Needless to say that I was quite speechless at first. However it wasn't soon that anger kicked in and got the better of me. This was also how I jucked my phone onto the bed.

Me: AHHH! HOW DARE HE!

Me: Does he think he is better than me?! It's not him who is risking their life to get that damn piece of shit!

Me: *Sigh*

I didn't care what this man just told me at all, I needed some time to calm down and so I stripped off my cloths and went to shower. The cold water was something I quite needed to relax since the events off the day were quite hecktic.

Not only did I break into the vampires place and stole the jewelry but I also had to go to the elves to get the potion. I was just happy I decided to get it before I went to steal that cursed thing.

Me: What a day.
