Seth dashed out of the building and started running through the streets in search of a thirio of higher class. To his surprise, even after running for a couple of minutes, he still hadn't found a single thirio. The streets were completely empty.
'This is weird, from what I saw before I should have already come across several thirios, but I haven't seen a single one,' he thought as he remembered how most of the participants had been ambushed by lots of thirios soon after landing. 'Is it because the sun is already settling down?' he thought while looking at the sunset in the distance. 'It could be, but still, something feels off,' he thought before he started running again.
He continued running for a few minutes. He passed several buildings but they all looked the same, worn out, abandoned, destroyed…
Even though he repressed the feeling, such a sight still sent shivers down his spine. What he was seeing was nothing more than a fake city but, what if that sight became a reality one day? The thought sent some flashes to his mind, images of a destroyed city in flames. However, he quickly repressed the memories and focused on the task at hand. He had to find a thirio before the day ended. At least during the day, he could still see something, but he could be ambushed from anywhere moment at night.
After a few more minutes he finally found a thirio. It was a bug-looking one, similar to a mosquito but around 4 meters huge. However, even though it was big Seth immediately felt that it wasn't too powerful.
Without stopping running he threw his chained scythe in a circular motion at the thirio.
Bang!
The thirio who had just noticed Seth, couldn't react in time to his attack and the scythe hit it in the head. However, the scythe wasn't able to cause any real damage due to the thirio's exoskeleton.
Seth took advantage of the few seconds the thirio was disoriented and slid below him, passing between its legs, and, used his katana to cut the thirio's throat through the joints in it exoskeleton.
Thud
The thirio fell to the ground lifelessly. Seth quickly took out his ID card and scanned the thirio's body before continuing running.

'Another class D,' he thought as he continued running.
He continued running some more and killed another 2 class D thirios along the way. However, the sun had almost completely disappeared by then, and night had started to envelop the city.
'I have to find somewhere to pass the night,' Seth thought.
After a couple more minutes he finally found a building that looked safe enough. It was a moderately tall building and had very few windows, which was one of the reasons why Seth had chosen it.
Seth carefully entered the building and found another couple of class D thirios inside it.
[Current points: 650]
'*sigh*, not even a class C,' he thought while looking at the numbers as he shook the thirios' blood off his katana before sheathing it again.
After making sure there were no more thirios in the building he headed toward a rather secluded hall with no windows in the building. He entered it by the only door it had, and seated across the room, looking at the door. If something wanted to enter, Seth would be immediately able to notice it, so Seth just relaxed and tried to rest a little.
However, even though he tried to relax, he couldn't shake the feeling of danger he had been having for a while.
'I'm just nervous. I've already checked the whole building and there are no thirios left, plus, I didn't see any thirios in the surroundings when I was running either so I should be completely safe,' he thought trying to get rid of the uncomfortable feeling.
Almost an hour later, the little light that came from the hallway disappeared as the sun completely settled down and the night came. The lack of light from the hallway left the hall shrouded in darkness, and, the feeling of danger that Seth had instead of calming down, only increased as he was blinded by the darkness.
step, step, step…
All of Seth's senses completely focused on the sound of steps coming from the hallway. He quickly got up and took his right hand to his katana's handle while he let the chained scythe hang from his left wrist.
He couldn't see very well, however, the hallway still had some moonlight while the hall was completely dark, so if someone got to the door Seth should be able to see them first.
step step step step
The steps moved closer and closer.
Step Step Step Step
Then, silence. For some seconds Seth continued staring at the door, waiting for something to show up.
Suddenly, all of Seth's senses screamed at him.
Clang!
As fast as his body allowed him Seth unsheathed his katana and was able to block a slash coming from his left side, pushing him back some meters. However, he wasn't unharmed.
drip… drip… drip… drip…
Even though he had avoided receiving most of the damage from that attack, he hadn't been fast enough to take out his katana and the thirio's claws had left four deep cuts on his left arm. The blood coming out of the injuries ran down all the way down his left arm and hit the floor.
Even through the darkness, Seth was able to see how the humanoid thirio licked his blood off his claws.
'How did he appear right beside me? He didn't come through the door,' Seth thought, the attack he had just barely blocked came out of nowhere. 'Is that his ability?' just as Seth thought this, the thirio, which had been standing in front of him, suddenly seemingly blended with the darkness, disappearing from Seth's sight.
'This doesn't look good,' Seth thought as he took a battle stance.
