Chapter 46 - Collecting Points III

The debris broke against the thirio's head, which fell to the ground due to the force. Taking advantage of that moment, the short swords started flying around the thirio, and with two clean cuts, the thirio lost both eyes.

GROWL!

The thirio let out a pained cry. as he tried to stand up. At the same time, two other big pieces of debris floated up to Viktor's height then, they fell at great speed toward the thirio. However, before they could touch it, they suddenly slowed down.

'What?!' Viktor thought confused.

The thirio took a couple of steps back and just when it got out of the way, the debris fell to the ground.

Bang!

The 2 pieces of debris broke apart as they hit the ground. More pieces of debris floated toward Viktor before they suddenly shot in the thirio's direction, however, each time they stopped before they could touch the thirio.

Slowly the thirio started approaching Viktor, somehow it had been to guess Viktor's position even though he had started attacking the thirio from different directions to try to confuse it.

Then it suddenly leaped toward Viktor, who tried to back off. However, he suddenly felt as if he was swimming in honey. He wasn't able to move fast enough to dodge the thirio's attack, so he took a step back and pushed the back of the metal sheet, flipping it and using it as a shield.

Bang!

The metal sheet flipped just in time, blocking the thirio's attack. Viktor and the metal sheet were pushed backward over ten meters before he placed the metal sheet under him and continued hovering in the air.

Bang!

'Air viscosity, huh?' Viktor thought as he saw the thirio's corpse fall to the ground. Suddenly, one of Viktor's swords flew out from one of the thirio's eyes and toward Viktor.

Pack!

'Ugh! It's covered in blood,' Vikor thought after catching the sword. 'Good thing I always keep one next to me,' he thought as he remembered how, when he realized he wouldn't be able to back off, he also positioned the sword he always keeps flying around him in such a way that the thirio impaled itself in the eye at the same time as it attacked him.

Viktor threw the sword in the air and it started flying around him again. Then he hovered toward the thirio's corpse while taking out his ID card.

[Analyzing corpse…]

'Almost halfway there,' Viktor thought before as all his swords flew back to his duffle bag. Then he got on top of the metal sheet and started hovering around the streets in search of more thirios.

[Time: 16:57]

[Participant name: Ethan Corwin]

[Current points: 7600]

"Tsk, is this supposed to be a test? It's insulting. Only trash would find it difficult to deal with these brainless creatures," Ethan said as he looked at the interaction menu that was displayed in front of him. "Not even class As can put up a decent fight."

He was sitting on top of the corpse of a big thirio in the middle of a warehouse. The thirio looked like an actual monster, it was around 5 meters big, covered in obscure red fur, its head was like something out of a nightmare, it had enormous fangs as well as claws, and its back was covered in scales.

Or at least that was how it should have looked before its fight against Ethan. Currently, the thirio's claws were broken as well as one of its biggest fangs, it had deep bleeding cuts all over its body, both its legs were completely destroyed with bones coming out of them, and a golden spear was thrust into its head, pinning it to the ground while its own blood gave its fur a more intense red color. The warehouse was still on fire in some places.

Meanwhile, Ethan didn't have a single scratch on him. Even more, it looked like he hadn't made any effort at all.

Ptoi

He spat on the thirio's corpse before getting off of it. Then he took his spear out of the thirio's head and attached it to his back before walking out of the warehouse.

'2400 points left… let's finish this,' he thought before taking a big leap. With just that one leap he was able to reach a height of over 10 meters and landed a block away. He looked around in search of thirios and then leaped again. The big leaps he took allowed him to travel long distances in a short amount of time, that way he was able to find thirios quicker.

After some more leaps, he was able to find his next prey and defeated it quickly after that, then he searched for another one and repeated the process.

It was already early morning when Delta entered the control room. The moment he entered, the whole atmosphere in the control room suddenly changed as everyone got stiff in their seats.

[Number of days passed: 2

Disqualified participants: 2709

Remaining participants: 6885

Qualified participants: 4]

"Report," Delta asked after looking at the numbers displayed on the big screen at the end of the room.

"Of the 2709 participants who have been disqualified so far we had to rescue 1127 participants from the test area and 1582 used the emergency extraction while fighting a thirio. So long we have 0 reported deaths," answered a man from his desk.

"What can you tell me about the remaining participants ?" asked Delta."

10% have gotten over 5000 points so far, 20% have still not fought a thirio," a woman answered.

"40% are integration stage espers, 58% percent are manifestation stage and 2% are non-awakened espers," another woman added.

"Anything worth mentioning about the non-awakened espers?"

"No sir, all of them are part of the 20% that still hasn't faced a thirio," a man answered

"As expected," Delta said coldly. However, just as he was about to speak again he was interrupted by the same man.

"Except for one," he said while looking at a participant's profile on his computer.
