Chapter 10 - Flashback - Enslaving the God

"Have you gotten my message? " yelled a voice from behind him.

A woman emerged from the shadows and glided beautifully towards Odin in a regal and unhurried manner. Odin jerked, then turned. As was appropriate for an exalted figurehead, Cybele barged in there in his sanctuary in all her glory, dressed to the nines. She wore a simple garment of pleated linen that was gracefully draped around her body and bejeweled with strings of pearls. The dress was fastened to her shoulders with gold clasps, and as she moved her arms, the numerous rings and bangles she was wearing made a lovely clinking sound.

The setting star hung directly behind her, its golden light cutting a seductive figure through the transparent fabric of her dress, emphasizing her small waist and exuberant breasts and leaving very little to the imagination are the hips. He had no idea how she managed it. The goddess was perfect even in the midst of a war.

" What's that get up? You know the gates are in trouble!" Odin commented.

Cybele glared at him. She isn't bothered by his rudeness.

She's used to it. Odin was like a brother to her.

" I can get those intruders out from intruding even with these clothes," Cybele replied flicking her hair.

" Now, have you got my message? Why are you still here? Are you not gonna help us?" she asked successively. Her tone was interrogating.

Odin raised his hand as a signal that she wants her to slow down.

" Whaaat?" Cybele raised an eyebrow.

" I'm not going with you guys.." Odin said after some pause.

Cybele frowned.

" Oka, so that means I'm gonna do this alone," she said.

All the other deities were scared of Odin. Not all can actually go here in his sanctuary, except for the goddess Cybele.

In Valhalla, it's her alone who can raise eyebrows at him, yell at him, or make some demands on him.

She's that brazen.

And that's fine.

Because if there's one goddess Odin doesn't want to mess up with.

It's Cybele.

There were rumors among the deities that Cybele holds the power of war, love, and fertility. Aside from her divine abilities, there's more they feared about her - her temper.

She explodes when she's angry.

All is in peace when she's in love and happy.

But she's not the kind who would easily fall for someone. She's picky. She's complex. And most of all she's the goddess who can manipulate one's emotions, that's why even Odin feared her.

Today you can be in love with her. But you need to check out if tomorrow you still feel the same because if not that means she played a trick on you. All the deities remember how she had interfered one time with the mortals, devouring an entire mortal army by just using her power. How could they forget that night when Cybele cast her force, those humans were instantly caught in a charm so difficult to explain.

Their eyes got fixated on her beauty. As if she is the only beautiful face to behold. And the more the armies looked at her, the more they fell to her influence. And the next thing was, the armies were now fighting for the sake of their love for her. They had become obedient to her force. Her charm possesses a sting of death that's more than the world's strongest potion.

She can make any male being fall for her.

She can fake love.

Love for her isn't a virtue nor an emotion but a weapon - a powerful weapon. And if there's any being that's weak to that, she assumed it would be the men.

And for this reason, the goddesses in Valhalla hated her.

And the gods despise her, more so they were scared of her.

But not Tyr, the God who holds control of the elemental planes.

He is deemed as wild for his adventurous, fearless nature. Perhaps, he and Cybele complement each other.

He is naughty.

She is rude.

He is unbothered.

She is condemned.

The gods loathe them.

" Why are you here?" Cybele's face was frowning.

Tyr winked at her.

" To help you," he said with a naughty grin.

The gate of the hall was attacked someone is attempting to open the dimension that's separating the living and dead mortals. Obviously, no help is coming from other gods. This means they don't care or they prefer not helping knowing that Cybele was here.

" So, you're gonna be doing this alone if I didn't come?" Tyr was trying to establish a conversation with her.

But Cybele prefers to ignore him. Instead, she rushed towards the gate and began fixing it. The ground began shaking, and energies behind the huge gold doors were starting to burst out.

" Sh***!" Cybele mumbled.

The goddess raised her hand to harness a force that will counter the thing that was breaking the door. But then, it was too strong that she failed.

A force flooded into the door, breaking the pillars surrounding it. She screamed asking Try to back her up.

Then silence.

The force ceases.

As smokes faded, seconds after they saw a giant monster dog coming out of the door.

" Damn! The mad guards of the other gates!" Cybele mumbled.

It was about to dive unto Cybele but then Tyr had let it freeze unto the air with a compass of his hand. There was wrestling of forces. The guard fought Tyr back, until few moments it finally escape from the force that was binding it. In a flash, now it was rushing towards Cybele.

Damn! I don't have a choice I don't want this deity to see this but...

Cybele flicked her hair and flashed a smile at the monster dog that was rushing to her. Her eyes were crinkled to the side. Her lips lift up as if eternity was unveiled on them. The feels, the warmth, and the light brought by her smile were like an infection rapidly spreading to an untamable beast.

Then in a moment as the monster comes closer.

It slowed down.

It lowered its gaze.

Until it's no longer snarling.

Now, the monster who sees anything as prey had seen different stuff in front of her - a master tamer.

" Good boy," Cybele giggled after the huge dog shifted its form into a cute obedient, harmless puppy.

Then she turned to Tyr.

" Let's close the gates now," she said.

But Tyr was still captivated by that moment passed. He was frozen at his feet, staring at the goddess.

" Hey..what?" Cybele called his attention again.

" That...smile..." Tyr mumbled.

" How could you smile and enslave one with it?" he whispered.

Cybele shook her head and grinned.

" Oh..that's why I'm hiding these powers of mine," she muttered.

And snapped her finger in front of Tyr's face so he could get back to his normal self.

" Close the gates," she said and left.

From then on, Cybele wasn't sure if it was just the effect of her powers or if it was natural, Tyr began pursuing her, and he was persistent. Many times she avoided him. Many times she rejected him but he was eager.

" Would you stop coming here at my doorstep every day?" Cybele blurted. Her face frowning. Her eyes trailed on the flowers in Tyr's grip.

" What are those?" she doesn't sound pleased.

She was more like interrogating.

" Look...you go home and wash your face. That was just some effect of what you had inhaled at the gates. You shouldn't have seen me in that face," said Cybele.

Then she turned.

She was about to walk away when she heard Tyr reasoning out.

" If this is some kind of enchantment, then why does this seems to last like an eternity?"

She heard him say.

Cybele paused from her track.

Wait...yeah...the effect of my power only last for three days, that's the longest....and here he is...he keeps going here like a for a month? Yeah! a month! Cybele thought to herself.

Is he for real? She asked herself.

From that day on they become good friends until their relationship grows which threatens the other deities. The gods have one concern. With Cybele being close to Odin, and now with her relation to Tyr, the deity who holds control of the element planes, then she would no doubt ascend to the higher power, a higher position in Valhalla, in which the other gods cannot allow. Besides her tandem with the god of the elements is a grave threat.

" Come to think of it when their powers were combined. The two of them can really crush us here!" said one of the deities.

" Or maybe Tyr was just under her influence? Was his love natural?" said the other one with a doubtful face.

Silence...

" Either way...the two can't be together!"

The gods concluded.

And so, they plotted for Cybele and Tyr's downfall.

However, just when they were certain of their plan Valkash came one day and suggested some modifications. He can't sacrifice Cybele. That's what he told the other deities, which made them loathe more on Cybele more.

" What are you saying? Are you too under her influence?" asked one of the gods.

Valkash shook his head.

" No," he replied.

" Spared her. I just want to get rid of Tyr, not her," Valkash tone was firm.

" We will consider your proposal but first convinced us that you aren't under her power," replied one of them.

Silence.

There was a pause in the atmosphere.

" Okay," Valkash sighed.

" I haven't seen her unleash that powers of her which rumors said could really make any man obedient to her, No, I haven't seen that. I just saw her from afar, and I fall...from afar, and keep falling...from a distant..unreciprocated," Valkash explained.

The deities saw sadness in his eyes.

And they were convinced that his story was true.

" Okay, when are we gonna execute our plans...against Tyr?" asked one of the diety, emphasizing the last phrases he said as a hint to Valkash that his request was considered.

" Tomorrow,"
