Chapter 1 - One

Juliet grew up in luxury, she never knew what it meant to suffer. She was the only daughter of my family. She knew that her family was very successful and influential.

She came from a very powerful family, a family that was very serious when it came to family ancestry. All her ancestors were also rich and never got to suffer either.

She was homeschooled until high school. She was never allowed to go anywhere on her own.

She used to wonder why everyone treated her with so much care, she was always punished for her wrongdoings.'

"Juliet, it is your first day in your new school," Her nanny smiled and helped her to brush her hair.

"I am tired of changing schools. I have told grandmother that I do not like it," Juliet sighed.

"It is because you are always breaking the rules set for you," Her nanny held her cheek.

Nanny Elise was always there for her, especially when her parents died. She was very young and did not know how it even happened.

Since then, her grandmother has been in charge of her welfare. She provided for her and made sure she always had everything she wanted.

She had a good relationship with her grandmother, but that changed when she entered high school.

Juliet was lovely and, of course, there was no way to deny that, she always had attention anywhere she went.

When she entered high school, there was a guy she liked and immediately after her grandmother heard of it, she changed her school and that became a new normal.

She has changed schools four times since she started high school. She was probably going to be the last, she hoped.

She had already drafted her new plan, she was going to stay away from boys.

"You know that this school you are going to is owned by your family and anything you do will be monitored strictly. You need to be good and try not to give your grandmother a hard time," Nanny Elise smiled.

"I will try. Why did they not put me here since? I do not know what she wants from me. Why can I not live a normal life?" Juliet sighed.

"Because Juliet Lance is not a normal person. Now get up and put that uniform on," Nanny Elise left the room.

She was in her white petticoat. She always wondered why her family had to do things as if they were in the olden days. It was 2022, and who still wore petticoats under their clothes, only her, Juliet Lance.

She wore her uniform, she sighed when she saw the design and the color. It really sucked for its price. It cost thousands of euros and it was still one of the worst uniforms she had ever since.

"Nanny Elise, I am done," She called out.

"You need to greet your grandmother before you leave for school," She told Juliet.

"What do you mean? I am not going to have breakfast with the old woman, she always looks for ways to annoy me," Juliet sighed.

"You will have to see her today no matter what, because she is the person dropping you off today," Elise said, lying on her bed.

Juliet was short of words, for the first time in ages, she was going to be in the same place with her grandmother. She tried her best to avoid her.

"I cannot do this, I think I am going to have a panic attack," Juliet said.

"It will be me in your position if I do not get you out immediately. Juliet, you are not a kid anymore, you should behave yourself," She sighed and packed her school bag.

"You want to lecture me. I know that I will be eighteen in a couple of months. If you were in my place you would have done worse, that woman is a terrible old…" She said at the top of her voice, stopping only when she heard the sound of a walking stick.

"What else do you want to say, Juliet?" Her grandmother entered the room.

"Grandmother, I was telling Nanny Elise about my former…Uhm…history teacher," She stammered.

"I do not want to hear it. If Elise is teaching you how to insult the person that is providing and taking care of you, I will send her away," She threatened her.

"Grandmother," Juliet mumbled.

"Come down for breakfast. If you disobey me again, I will have to get you a governess who will be able to teach you proper manners," She said and left the room.

"Crazy old woman," Juliet sighed after she left.

"I have told you to lock the doors every time you come in, but no, you do not listen," She added, picking up her bag.

She stood at the table while Elise stood beside her.

"Today is your first day at Lance high. This is not a place where you can make trouble and go scot-free, all eyes are on you and they want to know Juliet Lance. I do not want to hear any reports, do you understand?" Her grandmother asked.

"Yes," she replied.

"Just go through this school like a normal person. You have just a year to finish school. If you cannot do it, then you will have to quit school entirely because I will not transfer you to another school," Mrs. Lance sighed.

Breakfast was served and it was light. Juliet barely ate, she only ate the fruits that were served.

"Shall we go now?" She asked her grandmother.

"Is the car ready?" She asked the driver.

"Yes, ma'am, it is. I have brought the car forward to the entrance because it is raining," The driver explained.

"Good, let us go now, Juliet," Mrs. Lance called out.

"Good luck at school today. Make new friends," Elise said, adjusting her collar.

"I doubt I will have good luck with the old woman following me," She sighed as she entered the car.
