Chereads / The Family Ancestry / Chapter 2 - Two

Chapter 2 - Two

They arrived at school late because of the serious traffic on their way.

"Good morning, Mrs Lance," A staff greeted.

"Good morning, Mr Carson. This is my granddaughter. Juliet say hello to the principal," Her grandmother smiled.

"Is he not a little too young to be a principal?" Juliet thought. Her grandmother cleared her throat.

"Good day, sir. It is a pleasure to meet you," She smiled.

"The pleasure is mine, Juliet Lance," He responded.

"Do not treat her differently, she is a student here and she should be treated like every other person. Please send someone to show her to her class, I do not want her to miss out on her first day," She smiled.

Her grandmother followed the principal in while Juliet was shown to her classroom.

"Who is that girl?" The students murmured.

"She is the granddaughter of the owner," One spoke up.

A group of friends were seated away from the class.

"She is pretty," Another boy told his friends.

"You cannot have her, Jack. She is alpha Ethan's own," Joe whispered to his group.

"What do you mean?" Kelvin asked.

"What do you think I mean? The Lance has been serving the wolves for centuries. They run businesses for the pack, and the Lance industries are just a cover up for our pack, the first Lance worked for alpha Ethan's father centuries ago, he helped him manage his business and since he was faithful and sincere, Alpha Walter decided to have their family work for us till the end or till when another Alpha decides to terminate the contract. Juliet has been given to him since she was a child. Alpha Ethan decided to terminate their management contract after their marriage. After the wedding, all the properties will be managed by us and the burden of managing will not fall on them anymore," Denis replied.

"I thought the Alpha was not yet over the demise of his first wife. I thought he decided never to get married again," Kelvin asked.

"We thought so too," Denis spoke.

"Wow, it must have felt good having to live a life of riches. I feel pity for the poor girl, the alpha is very ruthless and I have not even seen him in a while, he travelled and has not come back in two years. I heard he has not been with any lady, since the death of his wife," Glen sighed.

"What? He has not been with any woman for half a century?" They all exclaimed and the whole class turned to look at them and laughed at them.

The quad was very notorious and have been best friends since childhood. They were part of the white pack, the oldest settlement of wolves in Europe. The pack had lived in England for hundreds of years and was very prosperous. They had people manage their businesses, while they managed the affairs of the pack and their well-being. Alpha Ethan was the ruling alpha of the pack.

"Boys, follow me," Gareth told them as he entered the room.

They stood up quickly, Gareth was the beta of their pack and he just started working in the school as per the alpha's instruction.

"Boys, what have I said about talking of pack's business in school?" He asked them.

"Gareth, we are sorry. It was kelvin who started it. We were trying to tell him that the new girl was the alpha's woman and that he should not think about her," Glen spoke.

"You this…" Kelvin tried to punch him.

"It is enough, she should not hear this from any other person's mouth. The Alpha will tell her himself when he is ready to do so. Now get back to class and behave yourselves," He told them.

"Yes," They went back.

Juliet monitored the room, the classroom room was huge and there were only a few students, like twenty-five in each room.

Of course, not everyone will be able to afford a school that was extremely expensive.

"Miss Juliet Lance, please introduce yourself to the class," Gareth told her.

"I do not think I can. I am a shy type," She whispered and the entire class laughed.

"Come on, you just need to say a few words," Kelvin said loud.

"Do it, Do it," A girl cheered.

The entire class joined in.

"Ok," She went to the front of the class.

"My name is Juliet Lance. I am seventeen years old and I am majoring in arts," She said.

"Is that all?" Another boy asked.

"Pretty much," She replied.

"Thank you, Juliet, if you have any other questions, please you can ask her after the class," He told them.

"Yes, Mr Gareth," The class chorused.

She sat beside the girl who was speaking before.

"Hey, what is your name?" She asked her.

"Why do you want to know? Do you want to report me for making you speak in front of the class?" She asked her.

"No, I am new and I need someone to show me around," She smiled.

"I am Jessica," She replied.

"Nice to meet you, Jessica," Juliet smiled.

Jessica was Ethan's youngest cousin, they came from a big family and they had many relatives. Jessica was quiet and it was very rare to see her talking.

Jessica kept looking at Gareth.

"No way, do not tell me that you have a crush on the teacher, is that supposed to be legal?" Juliet spoke non-stop.

"Shh, do not talk loud. Many people can hear you," She warned.

Jessica liked Gareth since her childhood, she was waiting for her eighteenth birthday so that she would finally know if he was really her mate.

Everyone respected her because she was Ethan's heir. Ethan's uncle who was supposed to be his heir died ten years ago, leaving only his daughter as his offspring. The elders were not convinced that a girl would be able to rule the pack, which was why he was pressured to take another wife.

"Jessica, I do not think it is right to date a teacher, if h finds out, you will be severely punished," Juliet tried to dissuade her.

"Do not worry, he already knows and nothing is going to happen. Why did you not start here since?" She asked her.

"My grandmother wanted me in a place where my background was not known. She wanted me to feel what it was like to be a normal person, and I loved it. I really made genuine friends," She sighed.

"Then why did you change schools?" Jessica asked her.

"Well, anytime I got into any relationship my school was changed. I am not allowed to like anyone like you. I just want to live a carefree life but I am afraid that it will be impossible. I do not even think that my granny will allow me to get married in the future. Maybe she is preparing me for a life of a nun,"

"Do not be silly," Jessica laughed.

Someone came in and whispered into Garett's ears.

"Juliet, you are called," He announced.

"Jessica, why do you think they called for her?" The boys gathered around her.

"I have told you, boys, not to come near me in school. Pretend as if you do not know me," Jessica pushed them away.

"Jess, you are such a difficult person," Glen spoke.

"Difficult? You guys always make my nose bleed! You stink, the others are lucky that they do not have the ability to perceive this outrageous odour," She tried to get them to move away without causing too much attention.

They laughed.

"You know that is a lie, since you do not want us, do not expect us to help you out when we go home," Denis told her and they went back to their seats.

"Come this way," Garrett directed her.

They entered a room, it was different. It did not look like an office.

"Why are you still here, grandmother? It has been hours or are you waiting for me to close so I will follow you back home?" She asked her and sat beside her.

"Why did you send for me?" She asked her again.

"Mrs May Lance, you may go. She is safe here," Garrett said casually.

"My grandma is older than you, you should treat her with more respect, and no one calls her by her first name. You must be a new worker here right?" She asked him.

Even if she was not on good terms with her grandmother, she was the only family she had and she did not tolerate any disrespect towards her, only she had the right to do so.

"May, what have you taught your granddaughter all these years?" A man entered the room.

His aura was powerful and it commanded respect, even his voice was compelling. He looked very young.

He even called her by her first name without adding any suffice. She could not stand up to him because she was scared.

"I am very sorry, sir. I have not taught her well, from now she is under your care, please teach her in my stead," She lowered her head.

"You are old and you do not have the time to monitor her, I understand. You may go," He told her.

Juliet held her grandmother's hand.

"Calm down, you will be fine," She hugged her and left.

She removed her hand and left her alone.

"I thought you were going to come back later this year. We missed you and the pack was not the same without you. Welcome back," Garrett hugged him.

Juliet sat down and waited for them to remember that she was still there.

"Garrett, have you prepared the house?" Ethan asked him.

"Yes, everything is ready," He replied.

He removed his jacket and kept it on the chair. Juliet tried to look away, his face was well chiselled and his body was very muscular. He had brown hair and light green eyes, she cleared her throat and turned her face trying to distract herself. He looked as if he was twenty-three, he could not be older than that, but why was he calling her grandmother by her name without respect and why was her grandmother giving him so much respect?

He walked up to her.

"Juliet, I do not think your name fits your personality," He said in his deep masculine voice. He sat in front of her crossing his legs and studying her.

"What name do you think fits me?" She asked him.

"How old are you?" He asked.

"I am sure you already know the answers. Who are you? Do you know that I am late for class?" She asked.

"Can you not answer my questions? I am not your grandmother who will ignore all you do, I do not have time to waste, I just came back on a trip and I need to go home. I do not need a kid to waste my time," He told her.

"Then, I shall take my leave cos, I do not want to be in the midst of a person who cannot be respectful," She got up and left.

"Did she just leave without my permission?" Ethan asked Garrett.

"I believe so," He replied.

"You see what I was saying? I do not want to marry a child who thinks she is on the same level as me when we are married. She does not know her place and she will cause trouble in the future. She is disrespectful and I do not think May did a good job at raising the brat," Ethan sighed.

"Alpha, she is a child and you will need to be patient with her. She does not know who you are yet," He told him.

"Jess is around her age, she is respectful and brilliant. She acts maturely," Ethan was always proud when it came to Jessica.

Garrett scratched his head and tried to escape the talk.

"Do you still not like her even after all these years?" Ethan asked him.

"I am very straightforward when it comes to all these things. She is too young and I do not want to take advantage of her feelings. If I am chosen as her mate, then I will court her," Garrett spoke.

Garrett always had good intentions, he never tried to use people for his own gain. If he wanted to have any sexual relationship with a woman it had to be mutual and not one sided.

Garrett found out that Jessica liked him when she was fourteen and she confessed it to him on her sixteenth birthday but he had rejected her because she was too young.

Over the years, he had watched her grow into a beautiful young woman and he could not deny the fact that he was slowly falling in love.

One day, he found out that Jessica kissed a man in the pack and he lost his cool and beat up the person. He was infuriated, he wanted to be her first in everything.

"Let us not talk about me, this is all about you. You are finally getting the chance to have a wife again. I have watched you struggle to heal from the pain, it has been fifty years, and now you have gotten the courage to get married again. Your single life is over, bro," Garrett laughed.

"The kids are spreading rumours that you have not been with another woman, but I do not think any man will be able to survive without a woman," Garrett laughed and Ethan joined in.

"Do you also think that I cannot be without a woman for that long?" He straightened his face.

"No, I do not," Garrett replied.

"Let them think what they want to think, I do not care. I just feel empty. I miss Lisa so much, I blame myself for not being there when she needed me," Ethan sighed and brought out a cigar.

"I do not think it is right to smoke in the school building, Alpha," Garrett put it off.

"You only address me officially when you want to reprimand me," Ethan said and threw it into the basket.

"I will get the girl back and make her apologize to you properly," Garrett turned to leave.

"No, I want to teach her a lesson. All her credit cards should be blocked," He told him.

"Do you not think this a little too much?" Garrett asked him.

"Are you now supporting that kid? She is disrespectful," Ethan raised his voice.
