1 month later…
Nashi was starting her magic training now as she was becoming to lenient on making fires now.
Lucy and Natsu agreed on him teaching her to master her fire since it looked like she was a fire mage. That's until natsu was caught eating some fire as he waited for Nashi to first 'manifest' some of her own on her finger.
"Daddy? … how do you do that?"
*Nashi asked forgetting to practice to manifest her fire*
Natsu flinched a bit finally sighing in failure to keep this away from her… he knew she can't eat fire later in her life for the fact that she wasn't a dragon slayer. She would have needed to train under a dragon and receive some of a dragons magic to become a dragon slayer. He sighed again before getting hit by a small fist.
"Daddy! i Want to Do that! Show Me!"
"I'm sorry Nashi, you can't eat fire no matter how hard you try you will just get burned! Plus you have to be a special mage like daddy to eat fire.."
*Nashi pouted as she didn't believe one word natsu said as she grabbed some of the other fire natsu made with sticks and dead grass. She grabbed a twig that had a small fire on it and she was about to put it in her mouth before natsu grabbed her hand stopping her.*
"Nashi! What did I just say! You will get burned! You can't eat fire unless your a dragon slayer!"
"But your a dragon slayer! Doesn't that mean I'm a dragon slayer too since you are my daddy!"
"Nashi, … it doesn't work that way… *sigh* your mama will kill me now that you seen me eat fire… maaaannn I should haven't been so wreckless.."
*natsu nagged himself as he sat on a log where he and Nashi were practicing. Natsu was facing her back forgetting she still had the fire twig in her hand.*
Nashi took advantage of this and tried mimicking what natsu did plenty of times she remembered. It was like he sucked in the air around the fire or something. She was scared too if indeed she would get burned so she didn't dare put her face close to the flames. She sucked in a big breath and sure enough the fire began to climb into her mouth. The flames seemed to solidify once it touched her mouth and licked the edges of her cheeks as she took a big bite of it. She tasted it and it was delicious, she was now envious of her father for telling her such lies as she wacked him again with the twig that had no fire left on it.
"Daddy! You liar, liar, pants on fire! I could eat it and it was delicious!"
Natsu only rolled his eyes not catching on to what she was referring to…
"Nashi I told you already you can't eat it, no matter how delicious daddy makes the fire you can't eat-
…..
Wait- Nashi how do you know it's delicious?"
He finally turned around to see a smiling image of himself as he looked the complete opposite of smiling as he was frowning and a bit worried by her answer.
"Because I just ate this fire daddy!"
*nashi showed off her twig with no fire on it as natsu's eyes grew big as saucers. Yep… lucy was going to kill him today for sure..*
"You don't believe me? Let me show you daddy!"
*Nashi walked infront of him now as she was confident she wouldn't get burned by the big fire going on in the bonfire infront of them as she sucked in the air.*
"Nashi! Wait! If you do that, you will choke!"
*natsu tried warning her but Nashi had already got a hold of the fire in her breath as she ate it in one breath but began to hack on it not knowing where to place the burning feeling in her stomach too..*
Natsu panicked as he didn't know what to do to get her to spit out the excess fire since this wasn't food or water lodged in her throat, finally he came out with the solution as he carried her upwards.
"Nashi I need you to give your best dragon roar like how you and me do sometimes, hurry!"
*Nashi yelled out a roar that vibrates in her throat but felt and saw the big fireball of fire leave her mouth and make a big explosion in the sky. She trembled a bit as she was not expecting to choke on the fire but was more scared because the explosion was so near her face. She turned around after she roared and hugged her daddy's neck crying softly as she had reverted back to her little girl who was frightened and needed her daddy.*
"Shhh..shh..sh.. it's okay Nashi, you are little so you didn't know that would happen, it's okay everything is fine now.."
*Nashi calmed down now as she looked at natsu's eyes now holding his face with her tiny hands.*
"Daddy, can you make fire? I want to be strong like daddy. So can you show me how to be like you?"
*natsu couldn't keep up the serious parent anymore as he bursted out with a laugh as he placed her down and sat next to her.*
"I can show you how to control your fire Nashi, but I don't really know much about what you can and can't do yet Nashi.. like daddy said, you and I are not the same.."
"But daddy is human like me right? I don't understand you daddy.."
Natsu sighed as he was somewhat ok with hearing her say she didn't quite understand yet… it just told him that she was curious to who her daddy was as a person. He gave her a soft smile and rustled her hair as he made a new fire with stone and sticks again. At this Nashi scrunched her nose in disapproval.
"Daddy, why can't you light up the fire with your magic? Why are you making it with sticks?"
"Nashi, we are out here today to make you learn how to control fire and how to not rely on it so much, as your daddy I have to show you how to make it without magic. Plus I think it's time I tell you about where daddy came from.."
*natsu let this sit in as he looked over his shoulder to see Nashi with her eyes sparkling with such radiance of curiosity*
"But daddy had a mommy and daddy too..? Right? "
"No nashi, daddy didn't have a mommy or daddy when he was a baby, my only family who took care of daddy was a dragon called Igneel.."
*Nashi always heard about dragon tales from Lucy, but her hearing a dragon tale from her daddy was a bit strange and unbelievable..*
"No daddy don't tell me a story, tell me a real one! Tell me who daddy's mommy and daddy was!"
"I'm not lying nashi, look.."
*natsu untied the scarf he always carried around his hip now as he handed it to nashi.. he made her feel the scales of the scarf as she never noticed before.*
"Daddy's Dad was a real dragon nashi, he made me this scarf with his scales…. I loved him so much nashi and I always would be with him no matter what…"
*natsu smiled sadly as he remembered Igneel memory's and the day when he had woken up to find himself lost in the forest… Igneel had disappeared and he was on his own then..*
"But daddy! If he really was your daddy, doesn't that make you a dragon daddy?! And why doesn't daddy have wings and a tail?!? Daddy what else can you do!?? Can you breath fire too!??"
"Whoa! Slow down nashi"
*natsu chuckled at how excited he saw nashi now as she touched all over his arms trying to find some scales of his own.*
"Look, papa isn't a dragon, he's just a human.. I never had any mommy or daddy to take care of me so I was adopted by igneel who was a dragon… he taught me dragon slayer magic and gave me some of his dragon magic that lets me make fire, eat it, and yes… breath it too.. see? Daddy came from a special place where dragons were still alive, then when I was 5 years old I lost my father, I didn't know where he went but after some time I found a guild called fairy tail."
*natsu looked at Nashi who was paying very much attention now trying to absorb all this information he said.*
"Woooow! I never knew daddy was so cool! Does mommy think you are cool too?"
*natsu let out a full chuckle now as he hugged tightly his little me, nashi had placed natsu scarf around her neck now. This made natsu feel like he was looking at himself again thinking
'Is this what igneel felt whenever he saw me wear his scarf?'
He let out a small puff of fire into the air to get nashi to squeal more in amusement as he continued to show her all his cool tricks, forgetting the whole purpose of training to control her fire..*
"I heard a explosion earlier, are you guys okay?"
*lucy emerged from a few trees as she came into view. Natsu and nashi had been training in the middle of the forest where their was a opening above them. The location wasn't far from the home so Lucy had heard the little fire dragon roar nashi let out.*
"Oh Lucy! Everything is ok! I'm just showing nashi how cool her papa is!"
*natsu exclaimed while flexing his arms*
"Natsu.. I told you to teach nashi how to control her fire not to show off!"
"But mama look what I learned!"
*nashi interrupted as she daringly looked at the bonfire that natsu had restarted again and this time she inhaled all of it with a bit of hacking but had learned that the burning feeling in her stomach was actually a fire roar that she had seen daddy do moments before Lucy came.*
After nashi looked at the sky on her own and let out a roar that sent a good size of a fireball into the air. It was 5 feet tall and radius all around as it exploded in the air after. Natsu watched with two different emotions swirling in him, excitement and fear. He was excited to see his daughter finally land a good fire roar into the sky but as he looked at Lucy, Lucy had eyes that glowed a bit yellow? Was it his imagination? Or had he knew that he was dead meat for showing nashi something that Lucy had told him not to show her from the beginning?
Whatever it was it was too late as he placed to hands infront of himself as he ran backwards away from a raging Lucy yelling out
'YOU DUMB IDIOT DRAGON!!! NOW I HAVE TO WATCH OUT FOR TWO OF YOU FIRE BREATHING DRAGON SLAYERS!!!'
*nashi laughed out loud now like how natsu would do proving once again she was indeed his daughter.. she watched as both of her parents chased each other as she began forming blobs of fire forming a dragon..
'I wish I could have met my grandpa..'
Was Nashi's first time feeling the emotion of missing someone who she never met…
