Chapter 10 - Magic

A darkness seeped out from beneath Kroft's feet and with it 2 words were announced.

[Analysis Complete]

Kroft ignored this notification though and continued with his laughter, he was becoming enveloped in an abyss of black. It spread from his feet, to the floor, to the walls, and crept to the ceiling finally. This didn't affect him though as his maniacal laughs spread throughout the room synergizing with the darkness. The dark didn't stop there though as it spread from the wall into the space around the room. It was taking the place of light itself in the room and by the end nothing could be seen, nothing could be heard, nothing was there, just a deep depth of shade. Then in an instance the darkness disappeared and all that was left was Kroft laying on the floor of the training room. After an unknown amount of time Kroft awoke. He looked around and then tried to stand. The key word here was tried, because he actually couldn't. He attempted to move his limbs but to no avail. He laid there dazed for quite a few moments and then came to his senses. He had gotten angry, really angry. That was one of his key flaws that he never wanted to admit, his anger problems. He hated the idea of letting his decision and thinking be ruled by emotions instead of logic. Although he was back to his orderly thinking with his anger calmed down, his hatred was still inside of him. If there was one thing that he disliked about being ruled by anger it was to be ruled by hope. Even with his senses back intact he still wouldn't go back on what he said.

"I'll still destroy hope." he said, or at least he attempted to. His lack of energy slurred his words and it came out as an incomprehensible dialect. As he couldn't move he recalled what had happened, with his gift his memory was perfect, not a single detail was misconstrued.

Analysis Complete? He thought to himself. What analysis?

As soon as he thought that information flooded his brain. An understanding of what had happened came before him. That was magic. The reason it didn't work must have been because he wasn't mentally ready to construct it yet. His body was, but his mind wasn't.

Then does that mean that when I lost control it actually helped my mentality? That means that emotion can be used as a strong catalyst for advancements in mentality. I'll need to look into this further. For what happened after his magic overloaded him. Without a sane being controlling that magic or at least putting it to use it just spread out sporadically enveloping the surroundings. The only reason he's not dead right now is because of the training room. The training room's magic detected uncontrolled undulations and used it's automatic anti-magic attributes.

I knew it was a good idea to test in a training room, Kroft told himself. I can finally use magic, that darkness must have been the effects of my amplitude being highly darkness. After coming to a comprehension of what happened Kroft closed his eyes and rested on the training room floor.

12 hours later. When Kroft awoke he got up and stretched his sore muscles, but before that he noticed something, he was completely naked. When he looked around the room he found out that the room was completely empty with not a single speck of dust layering any of the corners.

"This must have happened when my magic went out of control." Kroft said to himself. He left the room and quickly made his way to the nearest employee asking if they by any chance had a spare of clothes. To his surprise though, they weren't confused at all as it seems that it was quite a common occurrence of magic going wrong while in the training room. He departed and went straight back to his room and had a meal. Apparently not eating in 27 hours works up quite a hunger, especially when you drain all your energy like an idiot. After that he quickly started experimenting with magic immediately. He never took more than a tiny amount of magic power out but he went through multiple trials and answered many questions that he had about magic. Magic is a very exquisite thing, as it is energy it is nothing by itself but parrying it with a person who can shape it with the thoughts of their mind brings forth extraordinary things. He had read thousands of books from the library about magic but experimenting and confirming the few things from the books that he could were totally different than reading them off of the parchments. One of the multiple experiments he did was spreading the energy of magic throughout his fingers, as the tips of his fingers turned black he pushed down onto his desk and attempted to spread it through it. He had read in the library about how to fully utilize magic you need to use a technique, but these techniques are so advanced that it would take you decades to learn one as a student like him and mileanias to make one. These techniques are then practiced upon and mastered. The highest most powerful magicians have an uncountable number of techniques at their disposal and it is even theorized that they have moved past the realm of technique into a more advanced form of magic using. For the average magician though, such as the teachers at his academy, it isn't uncommon for them to have learned 10 to 20 different techniques, but very few have mastered even one. What Kroft was doing here though is nowhere near as advanced as a technique, it is a simple exercise that he came up with about reading about the flow of magic from dozens of different books. The understanding that he has of it is that magic is an energy that just like all others can be used to its fullest ability when you know how to channel it. You don't shoot electricity from a taser to your phone to charge it, you use insulated cords that are designed to control the flow of electricity. Kroft was doing that, but instead of a cord it was his body and instead of just giving electricity from the cord to the phone he is taking it back too. He funnels his magic from his fingers into the desk and then funnels it back to his fingers. Although the concentration it takes to keep this a constant process is immense, Kroft found that it is the best way to start training his magic. Through this experiment and many others he is learning about how to control magic and what ways it could be properly used. Kroft continued these experiments and training for a long time...
