"Noah, there is something that I want to tell you," Izzy mumbled as all of them made their way back to the house.
They had decided to book a cab and were waiting for it to arrive.
"What is it?" Noah asked.
"Well…" Izzy took a deep breath before replying, "I told Rebecca that I love you."
"…" Noah hadn't been expected such a revelation,
But before he could reply, the cab arrived and all of them sat inside it. The chances of talking together.
'She is blushing.' Noah observed as he saw a twinge of red spreading all over Izzy's cheeks.
He had been thinking of talking to Izzy's mother about this yet Izzy had been quicker than him. Noah couldn't help but wonder what else she told her mother.
While thinking about that, Noah opened the quest menu to find that it was still not completed.
Now, this was something he had expected as Adulu's reputation still hadn't been destroyed. The true blow to his reputation would be the documents Noah placed on the desk in front of him.
They contained every single piece of information about his misdeeds and knowing the media, he would be the headline on the news as well as in the newspapers.
The cab dropped them at the house sometime later and Noah was the first one to get out.
"I will come to talk to you in a few minutes. Gotta go to the bathroom." Noah whispered in Eve's ear before slipping away.
He immediately made his way to the guest room and entered the bathroom. Noah locked the door behind him before slowly walking up to the mirror.
"Damn…" Noah muttered while looking at his reflection.
The next second, he raised his hand and hit the mirror hard.
The mirror multiplied into numerous tiny mirrors as Noah's hand started bleeding. He looked at the blood with an emotionless expression before sitting down on the floor.
Noah hadn't shown it earlier but he had been feeling a severe piercing pain in his head as well as his right hand.
He had been trying to maintain an emotionless expression yet the pain had finally become unbearable once he had let his body rest a bit in the cab.
'I can't stop using my power. Perhaps by using them over time, I will be able to reduce the pain before removing it completely.' Noah thought with clenched teeth before splashing cold water on his face and exiting the bathroom.
Noah was thinking of going down when he saw Erika sitting on the bed with an amused expression on her face.
"You look quite troubled." She said as Noah settled down on the bed beside her.
"I don't think I have any expressions visible on my face. Noah pointed out as he indeed had a poker face on.
"A mother can always tell when something is troubling her child," Erika smiled. "You are having headaches and body pains after using your powers, aren't you?"
"I am…" Noah muttered as Erika raised her right hand forward.
"Let your body relax and hold my hand."
Noah obeyed her command and grabbed her hand tightly. He also let his body relax as Erika suddenly pulled him forward.
"Now listen carefully. Touch my forehead with yours and think that you are transferring some of your pain to me." Erika commanded as Noah touched his forehead to her.
Both of their faces were barely inches apart from each other as Noah closed his eyes. He could smell his mother's lovely fragrance while thinking of transmitting his pain.
'I never learned this previously.' Noah thought with a surprised expression as all of his pain washed away from his body in one go.
"There are a few tricks I will teach you later on. Till then, go have fun." Erika winked as she moved back and rotated her shoulders a bit.
It was obvious to Noah that he had given his pain to her yet she didn't look the least bit tired. Erika seemed to have learned her own things against the pain that came in exchange for using spirit magic.
"Also, take this with you." Erika suddenly handed Noah a pill.
He stared at it for a few seconds before silently putting it in his storage and thanking his mother.
He then left the room and made his way down to the kitchen while wondering what else Erika could be hiding.
'My mother is becoming more mysterious. I can't wait to see what details are provided to me from the reward of that quest because I certainly need some details.' Noah thought as he entered the kitchen to find Rebecca sitting there alone.
"I was just about to call for you," Rebecca admitted while gesturing for Noah to take a seat. "Sit down. There are a few things we need to talk about."
Noah calmly took a seat in front of her while maintaining eye contact. He had already expected this talk to come soon and was fully prepared for it.
"Noah, do you truly love my daughter or are you just going after her body?" Rebecca asked with full seriousness.
Noah smiled before replying, "If I was going after her due to her body, I would've just taken a mistress or concubine from the red light district. There are a few beauties there willing to do anything for money."
Rebecca seemed surprised by his answer as she had been expecting confessions of love. This irked her a bit as she asked her next question.
"Then would you always keep her happy?"
"No one can stay happy forever. What you are asking is an impossible deed. The only thing I will promise is to stay with her through both her happy and sad times." Noah admitted while staring directly into her eyes.
'Aren't teenagers supposed to be hopeless romantics?' Rebecca thought to herself as she had been expecting Noah to act like a teenager in love.
Yet his replies sounded like someone who was married and knew the harsh reality of life.
Rebecca was originally going to ask Noah a few more questions yet she was satisfied by the two answers she received.
"Then do you have a pill with you? I can already foresee what will happen tonight." She sighed as Noah took out the pill Erika had given him.
Rebecca looked at it for a few seconds before nodding in acknowledgment.
"Try to keep your voices low and I swear that if you get Izzy pregnant so early on, I will kick you in the balls until you can't get an erection." She threatened as Noah smiled.
"As you say, future mother-in-law." He teased before exiting the room and making his way towards Izzy's room.
Rebecca watched him go away before shouting, "don't do it right now! Wait till nighttime!"
She didn't hear any words in reply yet Rebecca had a feeling that Noah had heard her words.
'Izzy, I wish you had chosen a more simple man.' Rebecca sighed as she put her head on the dining table.
She had to admit that her daughter reminded her of her younger self. She had been madly in love with Izzy's father at that time and both of them had married two years after intense dating.
'Since you aren't here, I will make sure to continue looking after her.' Rebecca silently thought before sighing.
She couldn't keep worrying about Izzy forever yet till the time she was alive, she would look after her daughter.
As for the amount of time she'll live for, Rebecca didn't know…
