Chapter 4 - Chapter Four: The Tragedy Of 1820

Nick hesitantly called his brother, Matt, over to the Maledett home, he was desperate. He knew his brother would only come along for the journey if he got something in return for helping Nick find Martin. That's why Nick had this proposition, help him find Martin in return for residency at the Maledett home. Matt said it was a stupid deal because he already had residency at the Maledett home, infact he owned it for multiple years. This news shocked Nick as he had not seen Matt at the residence for decades, Matt said it was so he wouldn't have to see Nick's ugly face jokingly. Matt's plan was to go to an old forgotten village, a village from Nick's dark past. A village infested with revengeful werewolves.

"You sure about this?" asked Nick worryingly.

"Please, I know what I'm doing," replied Matt with confidence.

"I haven't seen a werewolf in years," said Nick.

"Socialize more I guess," Matt said with sarcasm.

"What you doing around a werewolf anyways," asked Nick.

"A werewolf? I'm with a whole pack of wolves," said Matt with pride.

"What pack?" Asked Nick, worrying once again.

"Silver Moon Pack. You know, the one where you killed half of them, back in 1820." said Matt.

The year was 1820, the ground was wet and and the industrial age was in full swing. Factories were booming with workers, a young boy of 9 years approached a factory in curiosity. He had seen his siblings go there for work and come back in bruises, so he wanted to see how they got bruised and see how harsh the industrial world was. The young boy approached a dapper boy with dark brown and blue eyes, Nick. Nick saw the child and thought of him as a beggar. He grabbed the young child and chucked him out the factory, yet the young boy was persistent. The boy had found yet another way to get into the factory, he snuck and observed his siblings. But he had already been caught by Nick once again.

"Sir, I am not looking for your trouble. I simply want to watch my siblings work," said the young boy.

"So you speak huh? Rare for children your age to be able to even remember their own name." Replied Nick

"Sir, what's your name?" asked the small boy.

"My name is Nicholas," replied Nick.

"Mine is Alonzo, but you can call me Lonnie," said Lonnie.

"So where are your siblings Lonnie?" Questioned Nick.

"They are... uh... um... they must have gone home," said Lonnie in confusion.

"Ah okay, I'll take you home," said Nick.

"Okay!" replied Lonnie.

Nicholas took Lonnie home by horseback, there was a dark smog in the sky which made Lonnie cough the whole time. When Nicholas got to Lonnie's village all other villagers walked the other direction, almost as if they were scared of Nicholas. Despite this, Nicholas returned Lonnie into his mother's arms eventually but got a rude awakening to why the whole village avoided him, they were all werewolves. Which also meant that they could sniff him out, aka he was in trouble. A crowd of savage villagers surrounded him and he quickly ran away from them, the crowd was able to catch up though. He had stakes thrown into his legs, arms, chest and eyes. He needed a way to escape, he pulled the stakes out of his body and threw them all into the rabid villagers. Instead of running away from them, he ran straight towards them. He grew out sharp fangs and bit into the villagers necks, tossing them around like paper weight. Nick ripped their heads off, he feed on them, he forced their limbs down their own throat. He was a monster. He then realised half of the village were dead, the guilt started to seek in and he could not bare the look of himself. He got back onto his horse and disappeared into the darkness leaving a trail of blood wherever he went.

"And let's say they still have a little grudge against you," said Matt while smiling.

"You are loving this, aren't you?" asked Nick.

"Maybe just a bit," answered Matt

They drove for hours to reach the pack, all the memories of what happened in 1820 rushed back into Nick's head. Everyone knows what happened in 1820, every vampire, every werewolf, he wasn't welcome into the village. He got glares from every villager, some quaked in fear at the sound of his name. He quickly walked to the building where Matt would ask for money in exchange for something, Nick just didn't know what yet. Just then, a bald man walked over to Matt and Nick with a case in his right hand.

"So you must be the famous Maledett's, it's a pleasure meeting you both," said the bald man.

"It's a pleasure meeting you too, do you have the cash?" Asked Matt.

"Yeah I do," answered the man.

"Great, let's get started," said Matt.

"The case for your brother right?" Said the man.

"That would be right," answered Matt.

Nick watched the deal in complete shock, he could not believe he just got traded like an object for a few hundred dollars. The man handed Matt the case which was filled to the brim in cash, Matt pushed Nick over to man without a second thought. Nick was still shocked so he did not say a word, but Matt then grabbed the man and hit him with the case of cash which knocked him out cold.

"See, I had it all under control," said Matt.

"You were going to trade me," answered Nick.

"But I didn't, I had to lie to the man. You do know that almost every werewolf wants you dead or wants you to experience extreme torture right?" Said Matt.

"Yeah I guess-" said Nick before getting interrupted.

"So quit whining and take the wheel, we're going to save Martin," said Matt.

Nick held the car wheel and drove off into the unknown.
