Matt's blonde hair was dancing in the wind, his blue eyes glistened with hope of finding Martin. Nick felt like Matt wanted to find Martin beforehand, he just didn't want to seem like he cared which is childish when you think about it but for a guy like Matt, caring has only left him in pain, sorrow and grief. He wanted other people's expectations to be low as he didn't know what to expect from himself, he was broken beyond repair. Yet, Nick had hope. Nick had hope that someday Matt will find happiness and won't lose himself. It's Nick's fault that Matt is like this. Matt was a boy with hopes and dreams, Nick crushed them all within an instant back in 1639. Matt had gone through so much because of Nick, Vicky is gone, he's no longer human, he gets blamed for Nick's wrongdoing's and killed Matt's best friend. Chen was a 99 year old vampire, he was killed just three hours before he would reach age 100 but that is a story for another day. Nick and Matt asked locals if they had seen a 5'10 guy with a blue top, they all directed them to the local forest which had a recent fire. Nick and Matt treaded cautiously through the woods, fire was deadly to vampires. Nick an Matt both walked up to an old tree, a man who wasn't recognisable was burning. All his skin had been burnt off, his eyes had popped, but somehow his heart kept beating. Matt gestured to Nick that they should continue looking for Martin but Nick was frozen, Nick knew it was Martin. Nick broke down to the ground and started crying, Nick quickly converted his grief into rage. Why Martin? Why Martin? Why Martin? Is all he could hear in his mind. Matt held Nick within his arms and took him back to the car and drove back to Spectrafield.
It was three weeks later and Nick still felt like his whole world had fallen apart, the worst thing about this all is that today was the day that he would have to return to school. He hated the thought of school, he wondered why he was going to it anyway. There was no point at all, no point in life itself. Nick walked to school with gloom stained upon his face, he was the opposite of his happy usual self. He was vengeful. He walked straight up to Bones and grabbed him by the hand and then pinned him to the wall in an isolated area.
"Nick? Why did you do that," asked Bones.
"Why the fuck did the enhanced manipulating bitch kill Martin!" exclaimed Nick in pure anger.
"Martin? Who's Martin? And besides, I have no idea what you are on about," argued back Bones.
"I know, Bones." Said Nick.
"You know what?" asked Bones nervously.
"I know you are a changeling," said Nick with a small grin.
"How do you know that?" asked Bones in a fright.
"That my friend, ain't important. You on the other hand.... All right I'm going to lay it out straight for you, I'm a vampire and you are a changeling. But here is the difference between us, I'm a hungry vampire. Who knows what I could do? I am holding onto sanity by a little thread, and you know what. I blame you for all of this." said Nick.
Bones cowered backwards, he could not believe what he he just heard. Despite that, He put aside the supernatural drama and hugged Nick, even if Nick was full of hatred and rage. Nick pushed Bones back, Nick's eyes turned black with red pupils with veins popping out underneath it, he grew out large sharp fangs which would be soon dripping in blood. Nick sprang into action and bit into Bones' neck and then tossed him into a locker with one arm. Nick was barely recognisable, he was a blood sucker, an animal, an untamed beast. Bones pulled out a sharp object out of his bag, it was no knife but a stake. He stabbed the stake just next to Nick's heart and twisted it, Nick screamed in anguish while Bones walked away as the bell had just rung for first period.
Matt spied in on the whole fight he stepped out of the shadows and grabbed Nick, Matt sighed to himself. He wondered to himself how Nick lost a fight to a guy with human strength.
"I was holding back," said Nick softly.
"I beg your pardon?" asked Matt, confused of the context.
"The fight. I was holding back." responded Nick.
"But why?" asked Matt.
"Because I had a sliver of humanity, I tried to control myself," said Nick.
"Wow Nicholas, you really are the good brother," said Matt.
"I love you Matt." said Nick with a faint smile.
"Nuh-uh brother, people always say that when they think they are going to die. You won't die, I won't allow it, I promise that you will survive this," replied Matt.
Matt called up an old friend, a witch. He needed her help to heal Nick but he had no mode of transport as he left his car at his house, he looked around for someone, anyone and a girl caught his eye. A girl with sparkling hazel eyes and luscious dark brown hair, it was Belle. Matt walked up to her with Nick in his arms, he signalled to her that he needed a car to go to the hospital so Belle ran over to hers and invited them into her car.
"Nick never told me had a brother," said Belle to break the silence.
"Nick never told me he knew a beautiful girl," responded Matt.
"You don't look that bad yourself," responded Belle.
"Thank you, so are you and my brother friends or... something more?" asked Matt.
"Me and your brother are just friends," said Belle, "you are so lucky to have Nick as a brother."
"I guess you could say that, do you have any siblings?" asked Matt.
"I did, his name was Roger. His head got ripped off. He was amazing, he was the best brother in the entire world, he-" Belle stopped talking to avoid crying.
Matt held Belle's hands and stared into her eyes.
"Everything will be okay, I promise." said Nick.
"How can you know that!? You've never lost a loved one before," screamed out Belle.
"Don't be so quick to judge, all my family is dead. Well other than my brother of course, yet he- he did some bad things... a long time ago." said Matt.
"Oh, I am sorry to hear that." responded Belle sympathetically.
"Well it's all good. My family is happy in heaven hopefully, laughing, dancing, enjoying life. So is your brother, he's happy, getting drunk, living the life of a teenager." said Matt.
"How can you be so sure of that?" asked Belle.
"Because after a lifetime of pain and torment, it would only be fair that you get to see your loved ones again, being happy. Right?" asked Matt.
"Right." responded Belle.
They arrived at a house which read "Coyle Residence", Matt told Belle that he could handle the situation from then on and told her to go back to school, Matt then knocked on the door rapidly. The witch opened the door and invited him in, she sat them both down and then started chanting the words "motus regen". She chanted the words for three minutes, in that time her nose managed to bleed due to the pain it inflicted upon her. She then stood up and said she did not know if the spell worked, she announced that if he did not wake up in the next three days then he is dead. This news shocked Matt, he made a promise to Nick that he would survive this. The witch walked out of the room to allow Matt to have some time to himself and his brother, immediately as she left the room Matt broke down into a loud cry. He couldn't lose his brother, it would be like losing himself, like losing everything he has left. Yet Matt could do nothing, it was all up to Nick to wake up.. or was it? Vampires have the ability to go into humans and the supernatural's dreams which meant that Nick wouldn't have to go through it alone. His brother would be him, now and forever.
