"You like shells, don't you? You can have these."
Cadmus grinned at her while he stuck the ornaments one by one in her sleek, wet hair. By some sort of magic, they managed to stay put on Blair's head, making for a radiant crown.
"There," he said with a boyish smile. "Now, you look like a mermaid princess."
She looked into those bright, fey eyes. They made her feel like melting inside.
"But you don't swim like a mermaid. All splashes and noise and squirming."
Her expression fell into a frown, and then on a whim, she splashed water on his face. Blair swam away and let out a girlish scream as Cadmus gave chase. He knew he could catch her easily, but he decided to hold back, enjoying the hunt.
"Surrender!"
"Never!"
Blair squealed when he moved to grab her foot. She kicked out splashing water in his direction, feeling incredibly slow and clumsy in the water compared to him. But she swam as hard as she could to escape from Cadmus.
