"Ms. Winifred, I don't have time for your antics today. Do pray tell why you can't remove your hat?" the teacher chided, and Blair scrambled for an excuse.
"Because it's stuck."
Absolute silence.
"It's true, Sir," said Hershey, hesitantly backing up Blair. "We're playing near the forest during recess, and Blair got stuck in a tree. Her hair is all knotted around the base of her hat as it got caught in a branch. We'd tried pulling and untangling it, but it's no use." Hershey was going to hold a high position of power in her court, Blair had decided.
The teacher just let out a long-suffering sigh, looking so done with these kids. "Fine, but at your next break, either come find me or go to the nurse to remove it, understood?"
"Yes!" Blair saluted, glad it worked.
