Blair kept drawing away from Cadmus.
So as to not lose sight of her, he would try to match her pace. Whenever she took a step back, he would do the same as well.
This had caused them to fall behind the others.
If it wasn't for their teacher's instruction to stay close to each other, he would've already left her and joined the rest. But deep within, he knew his conscience wouldn't have allowed him to do so, considering that it's bad enough that he found her to have no sense of direction.
Getting fed up already, Cadmus huffed and started, "Listen, we need to cooperate for this field trip."
"Agreed," Blair responded unexpectedly.
"Stop walking behind me, then. People will mistake you for a stalker."
"I think it's just better for a peasant like me to follow the prince's lead."
That got him arching a brow. It sounded like she was messing around.
"Are you mocking me?" Cadmus rasped, getting more annoyed when Blair tilted her head cockily.
"I realized that it does kinda fit us in a way. I'm a peasant, and you're a prince. I thought you'd be happy to hear me admit that."
"Quit joking around. Why don't you come out with it already? Say what you really want."
"Apart from anger management issues, I see that you might also have a bipolar disorder."
"You know what? You're on your own!"
On the brink of losing his cool, he bolts away from her. "Hey, where are you going?!" she called aloud, following after him in a hurry.
Both didn't notice that everyone in their class had noticed their outburst.
"Away from you. That's where…" Cadmus hissed, stomping through the doors.
"It's clear we can't get along with each other. So, what's the point in me trying to talk to you? Every time I try to be nice, you say something that gives me the impression that you want to be left alone! How can I work with that?"
"It's not like I'm not trying, and I didn't want to get in anyone's way…!" Blair argued.
"But you're making it tricky!"
He was about to retort until he suddenly missed a step on his way up to the coaster. With a scream, he toppled backward and began falling down the stairs.
Blair rushed to grab him by the wrist, not sparing a second thought. But then, pulling Cadmus too quickly caused both of them to slide down.
They crashed and tumbled before hitting the bottom of the flight.
"Owww," Cadmus moaned then heard Blair's pained grumble.
He whipped his head up to see her holding him. His face was on her chest, her stretched legs caging him in. He scrambled out and sat up in a panic.
"Are you okay?!" he exclaimed.
"Fine. You?" she grunted.
"I think I might have-"
"Crap, you're hurt!"
Blair grabbed his hand. Cadmus felt his heart thump.
"Those are gonna be some nasty bruises…" she grimaced while examining the red patches on his arm.
"Ugh, just why do you keep getting hurt whenever you're with me?"
Rapid footsteps were heard at that exact same time. They looked up to find that everybody came to see what happened.
"Master Cadmus…!" he heard his friends call in sync, all looking so worried.
"Are you alright?!"
"I am…" he sighed while scratching the back of his neck.
"This isn't a big deal-"
"Gosh, can you believe this…?" he caught one of his classmates whisper to another.
"After punching him in the face, she pushed him off the stairs next?"
Everyone looked at Blair in revulsion and wariness.
