Chapter 5 - Crash

They all turned to look at Russell who started gushing about something that may have piqued Cadmus's interest for a little bit.

"What do you mean by complete opposite?" Irvin questioned with a raised brow.

"Hmmm, well... Like dark and light! Bad and good! Or morning and night!"

"Who is this? And what makes you say all that?" Jamir asked next, arms crossed.

"She's from a different school, though she's already here since first grade."

Cadmus said nothing through it all. But like Irvin and Jamir, he's listening close.

Apparently, it was a transferee who'd also be entering second grade this year. Although that wasn't anything out of the ordinary, this student seemed to be a peculiar case.

"She caused trouble shortly after coming here, which was kinda around the last school quarter. I heard she got into a fight with her teachers and some upperclassmen who're all part of the Supreme Student Guild. She immediately got labeled as a delinquent! What's more, as if coming from a middle-class family wasn't enough, she's lacking so much in academics that her grades were barely passing, which caused many to question why she even got accepted here in the first place."

Cadmus mulled over these until they reached the banquet hall. It's filled to the brim with students of repute and affluence. He wondered which of them was the one Russell was talking about.

'He's probably just exaggerating…' he thought to himself, hands in his pockets as he and his friends strode inside, causing everyone to go silent at the sight.

'There's no way a bad student like that would exist in this kind of place. The academy wouldn't tolerate a commoner with attitude and no brains.'

As he was thinking of this, he would smile at those who'd happen to make eye contact with him, yet as he was expecting, he'd only end up flustering some of them and intimidating the others. Again, he would enjoy their reactions to the fullest, not knowing they would soon become something he'd eventually get tired of.

'I mean, look at this…' he continued to muse as he stood below the huge, golden chandelier and gazed upon the setting before him – a world full of ornamental luxuries that altogether exhibited a resplendent, posh view.

'Doesn't the actual place already speak for itself? Everything is made from only the finest – proper, orderly. Who'd even dare try to smear something this sacred?'

And at the center of it all, there was the one and only Cadmus.

He started walking again, a smirk on his face. It was supposed to start and end like that – a show-stopping, magnificent entrance. But then, he unceremoniously crashed hard into someone and tripped.

Having never been in this kind of situation before, Cadmus was in utter shock.

It was a nasty fall. Everyone was staring. It was mortifying.

"Master Cadmus!"

He let out a groan and tilted his head up, expecting to find his friends. But the one he found instead was an unfamiliar face.

Flowing, delicate purple hair. Short, petite stature. Rosy pink, doe-like eyes.

Right then, what first came to Cadmus's mind was quite a disconcerting term.

'Cute.'
