Jasper's mind was hazy, unable to focus on anything. Due to lack of focus, his steps were unbalanced and took some time just to stand up .
It took Jasper sometime to recollect his thoughts as he slowly remembered everything that occured before he collapsed. He pierced the Gravity Black Bear with the Blunt Sword making its brain matter gush out. This was enough to confirm its death, but he couldn't be sure since the Gravity Black Beaer was capable of repairing its spinal cord at an insanely fast rate visible to the naked. Also right now he was in Arcane World. A place where magic existed. There were limitless possibilities with one of them , being the Bear not dying.
Since Jasper was still alive it meant either he managed to kill the bear or Julian decided to save me at the last moment. He wasn't sure about the Gravity Bear's current status. " Is the Black Bear alive?"
" Yes. Your strike was very lethal making all of its brain come out. That blow meant certain death for because Its very hard to recover from such a severe injury. Also, the battle had cost him too much energy. So, it didn't have enough energy to repair it and save itself from dying. "
Jasper breaths a sigh of relief, " What about my buddy, little Lynx? How is it?"
" Except for over depletion of energy, its condition is very stable. It should take a few more days for it to wake up. "
" That's great news." Jasper's expression suddenly turns ugly as he glares at Julian, " Why did you make me fight the beast ??! By the time our battle started the sun had already set and I was at my wits end fighting beasts for the whole day. "
" To be precise, the Black Bear appeared before the sunset and had to be fought according to the condition I had stated prior. Besides didn't the fight benefit you. Your physical strength must have taken a qualitative leap after fighting and killing the Bear while your pet, Lynx gained an overpowered ability which will help you in the future. "
" That still doesn't explain why you didn't act when I was one blow away from death. One hit, just one hit and I would be dead. If the Lynx had not awakened at the right time then I would surly be dead. "
" I don't care if you die, Jasper. If you are able to get out of this forest alive then you will become my first student I have ever had. Such a position can't be given to just anyone, I have to test you in every aspect to know whether you are worthy or not. "
"Then I don't want to be your student."
" That's fine. But, then I will not be teaching you magic. You see when a teacher takes in a student it means he is going to impart every knowledge, experience and everything he knows. The student is a successor of the teacher, taking his teachers teaching to higher hights. It's the same as handing over my life to you. I, of course value my life a lot and would never imparted it to someone unworthy. I am making an exception for you, the reason for this eludes me too. I am willing to give you one last chance. I will teach everything I know making you very strong, if you decline it then you won't never get another chance. "
Jasper had underestimated the ruthlessness of this World. Someone with a shred of humanity would never openly confess with being fine of other's death, but Julian stated it so easily. As if death was as common as water for him. If he was unable to survive all the upcoming challenges and prove himself as a worthy student, then the only other outcome would be his death.
Faced with such unfair conditions to become Julian's student, not becoming Julian's student seemed as the right choice. However, the fact that he was going to impart all of his knowledge, experience, accomplishments and inheritance to Jasper, meant obtaining would make him much stronger than his current self. He not only needed to think about the present but also about the future. Even if he and Jennifer managed to get to a safe place with their lives intact, they still had to survive in Arcane World.
Jasper was at a disadvantage from the starting having absolutely no knowledge about Magic while everyone else were well versed in it. Becoming Julian's student could give him a boost from the start and perhaps just the advantages needed to excel in this New World.
Jasper had been at the peak in Blue World, so he was ambitious enough wanting to become an existence at the peak of the Arcane World. The only problem with this arrangement was his life could end at any moment. One mistake and his life would be over. He would be dead.
But then again, Jasper's life had been in constant danger from the moment he entered Arcane World which will stay in the future unless he became powerful enough to face these problems on his own. He realized no matter how much he thought about not becoming Julian's disciple , he instead found more reasons for becoming one. He might die anytime but coming out of it would make him a dragon who played with death.
" I am leaving all my hesitation behind. No matter what you plan to throw at me, I will excel at it. Just hold true to your promise and teach me everything you know as when I become your student."
" I never break my promises, you can count on that. Ok, fresh up and come to my tent. I am going to teach something you will never be able to forget for the rest of your existence. It will change you and the way you perceive this world. "
------------------------------------------------------------------
Jasper enters Julian's tent which was much to his displeasure better than his. It was better in appearance, covered in velvet carpet made of some unknown animals. They looked so comfortable making him want to jump onto them and sleep soundly ,but then he concentrated on his teacher as he pointed to a seat beside him. He was excited because he felt that he was finally going to learn how to use Magic, he had wanted to learn it from the moment he entered Arcane World.
" I am going to teach you how to use Magic."
Anyone having read a fantasy story filed with sword and magic dreamed for that World to be real. Jasper had not only entered Another World but magic existed in his current reality . Despite his unfavourable situation, he was overjoyed to be able to learn magic. He almost shouted ' Yeah ' in his childlike excitement barely managing to restrain himself, it was unbecoming of a strong and steady warrior to be happy about small things. Still, he was very happy to get something he had fantasized from childhood.
Julian sat inside the tent in a cross-legged pose to which Jasper followed after him taking the same pose. " Close your eyes , take deep breaths and then open them slowly, similar to meditation. Repeat this action until you are able to sense the surroundings with your eyes closed."
" There is no need. I can already do that."
"Really, then sense the closest flamingo bird near us."
Jasper concentrates sensing his surroundings, slowly expanding his range of detection trying to search for a flamingo bird Julian mentioned. He found two flamingo birds about 1km from the tent he was in. While trying to sense it he notices that the two birds were breeding.
Jasper was still a naive boy. Witnessing the birds do the deed was enough to embarrass him, " Found them about 1km away from here at right side 3'O clock direction. "
" What do you mean by 3'O clock direction?? Well, that's the right distance so I choose to believe your claim. But then it does not explain why you have not yet obtained mana. Sensing the surroundings is the toughest part, after that its a walk in park to obtaining it."
