Around two o'clock in the afternoon I went to town for a while. I headed to the town hall and tried to find some information about Hungary at that time. I did not provide the necessary information on the Internet in order to be able to specify who and what exactly it is. To no avail. I walked a little through the city and returned to the manor. It was a little after four o'clock in the afternoon and some of the employees and workers had already left. My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the caretaker Diana. "Branko, please come with me to the courtyard. The director came for a moment, so he would like to see you.
"Of course, Diana, I'll be with you right away."
I laid the papers on the table and we went to the courtyard together. Director Richard stood in the yard in a suit and shook my hand. He had the car in the parking lot according to the regulations.
"So how are you after the first night? Did something happen about the ghost?"
"Yes, of course, yes. The first contact took place, we talked and at the moment I am putting together the first connections. The ghost is a woman from a Hungarian family, but I don't know from which yet. She is very pretty, friendly, cultivated, but quite confused. He does not understand things around him, he does not find connections and solutions. He's just wandering around, it's not even clear where he's going. I write everything down and prepare a report. It may not even take as long as planned. I don't want to spend a whole month here. I will try to put this puzzle together as soon as possible. Maybe I'll involve my secret sources, because I don't think I'll get the information I need myself."
The headmaster adjusted his jacket contentedly and looked at the roof of the manor. Apparently he was happy with the news that everything would be over soon. We said goodbye and I returned to the manor. I also exchanged a few words with the workers who were finishing painting the interior walls in the guest room. They were also interested in how the monitoring went. We talked about it a bit and then I slowly went to my room. I sat down at the table and tried to return to my previous thoughts. I have added one last remark to today's records. In this case, we are talking about Hungary, because in the year that Amáta mentioned, Austria-Hungary did not yet exist. This ended the recording of the first night of watching. I lay down on the bed and could still sleep until my night shift. I lay with my eyes closed, wondering how to proceed. I fell asleep. At half past seven in the evening, I was awakened by the screaming of a bird in the garden by the manor house. I listened to the horrible scream until I couldn't stand it nervously and jumped out of bed. I forgot to close the window in the afternoon, so it was so audible. I closed the window, and since it wasn't quite dark, I didn't have to shine a lamp. I opened a two-liter water bottle and poured myself a glass. I sat down at the table and stared at the closed door. This helped me focus on a few things that don't make sense to me yet and think about how I will proceed. If I still can't advise myself after this night, I'll have to turn to my secret co-workers. I leaned back in my chair and took a deep breath. Maybe there's something in this mansion that I overlooked. Maybe there's something that drew Amat here. Although she was wandering from one mansion to another, from one castle to another ... she might not have found what was to move her further, which would allow her to move to the other side. Literary more precisely, on the other side. So I took a flashlight and around nine o'clock in the evening I went for a walk around the manor. I tried to notice even the smallest details that could help me. Large paintings, period furniture, glass sets of goblets, smaller and larger sculptures, porcelain from all over the world. I also tried to open some doors that I had not opened before. All were locked. I didn't even dare to ask among the staff why they were locked up. I respected their internal regulations. I walked through the rooms, the corridors. I didn't notice anything that should attract me. I went to the small living room, where I had discussed with Amata the night before. It was already dark, so I turned on the flashlight, which I placed on the table and aimed again at the wall. I thought about explaining to Amate that she was long dead. And most importantly, I have to figure out where she is buried, if she is buried at all. I sat in my chair for a while, but it was still a long way to midnight. Sometimes I went to a large window in the lobby and just stared out into the darkness. There was another grave silence that pushed me to the ground so badly. I hate it. Even the confused bird screams only during the day and apparently sleeps at night. He could have changed his regime better and he could have screamed now to keep me up. At least I wouldn't be dozed off. In my mind I imagined like here in the past county families lived. The manor that managed entire cities, forests, lands ... and suddenly lost everything they had, their power and their possessions. Hm. History has always fascinated me. The demise of the monarchy, and especially the demise of Austria-Hungary, is of particular importance to me. It is astounding and proof that even a seemingly steadfast system of government can change completely. My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the banging of something in another room. I measured and waited for what would happen. But nothing happened at all, only occasionally there was a rustling. I took a flashlight and followed the rustle. I came to a room that was probably a county bedroom. I shone a flashlight into the room and immediately noticed something in the middle. A white cat sat on the carpet, glowing eyes at me.
"And where did you come from? Will you keep me company so I'm not completely alone here at night?"
The cat watched me intently. I left the door open and returned to my room to drink some water. The cat followed me. I thought of giving her some at least temporary name. I wondered what. I didn't know if it was a cat from one of the staff or just wandering here, just breaking into the mansion. So I named her Darsa because she was white and appeared in front of me as a ghost. I turned off the lamp on the table and shone my flashlight on the floor I was walking on. I walked down the narrow corridor again. Darsy followed me. I didn't even realize how fast time passed and midnight came. There was silence and frightening darkness everywhere. Sometimes I saw white Darsa running up and down the rooms in the dark. Well, after a while, I didn't know what to do, so I sat down in a chair in a large visitor room. I delved into my thoughts again, considering options that would move me forward. He attacked give me one scenario that I could possibly use to close the whole mystery. But for now, I've decided to keep it in my head and not present it to anyone. Suddenly, Darsy ran out of the next room and headed straight for me. She was nervous and squirted in all directions. I tried to calm her down, so he stroked her white fur coat. Well, it didn't help at all. I took it and put it in a chair. I went to the next room and in the darkness I saw the figure of a woman in a wide dress. It was Amata. She looked at the large picture on the wall on which the count was painted.
"You scared us and especially my new friend Darsa. He'll have to get used to you ... I see you're very interested in the paintings on the walls."
Amata looked sadly at the painting and turned to me after a moment. I lit the flashlight on the opposite side of the room so that we weren't too bright.
"I did not intend to frighten anyone. Hm. I still look at these paintings, but I don't recognize anyone. I've never seen these people. Not one of them. Count ... and Countess ... I don't know them at all, and that was at the meeting of all the rulers of Hungary in Levoča. I was sixteen at the time. Well, I didn't see any of these people in the pictures."
