Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

"What am I doing here? Why am I here? For f***ing sake this isn't what I asked for," I murmured while looking in front of this locker.

"Goodness, look who we have here!" I heard from my behind so I looked back. The old lady is shocked when she saw me.

She's wearing the janitress' uniform and she has towel on her blouse's pocket. She is also wearing latex gloves in her hands. She looks exhausted from all the work she did.

I smiled at her, "Good afternoon, ma'am. I'm Ericka and I'll be working together with you starting today," I greeted.

"Working with me?" she confusedly asked. "Are you sure you're not lost? Shouldn't you be working in a department and sitting in front of your screen?" she continued.

I let out an awkward laugh. "Well, that's what I'm expecting too but it didn't went out as I planned," I explained.

She removed her plastic gloves and put it inside the bin. She then started talking, "Young lady, you don't deserve to be in here—in this dirty work. Get out in here and find a decent job," she advised and let out a smile.

"What do you mean decent? Ma'am, this is also a decent job. I don't care if I'm working in here, it's fine by me," I countered.

"Based on your look, I don't think you really need money. You should go and find another job," she insisted and turns her back at me and went to the push cart where sort of cleaning materials are.

"Ahh ma'am! Wait for me! I'll help you!" I shouted but she just continued walking away.

I immediately changed into uniform, tied my hair up and went to her. I pushed the cart with her and she didn't say anything.

"Ma'am, are you mad at me?" I whispered at her.

"Stop calling me that," she replied. "And please wear some gloves," she added.

What should I call her then?

"Ahh right," I commented and then started wearing some gloves. "Auntie, when did you start working in here?" I asked.

"Almost 12 years ago," she replied.

I gasped. If she's working in here for the past years, it means she might know something! Being assigned in here isn't actually that bad but not that great either.

"Then you must really know a lot about the company already?" I asked.

"In what sense?" she replied.

I shrugged my shoulders, "Well, in any sense?" I replied in unsurely tone.

"Well, I know some but not a lot," she replied and then she stopped walking.

"Argh!" I gasped when the cart hit my stomach. "Why auntie?"

"Are you sure you're really going to work in here?" she asked.

I nod multiple times, "Yep!"

"Then," she picked something below the cart and I saw her holding a pail and a mop. "Then start working at the west wing while I'm cleaning at the opposite wing, get that?" she instructed.

"A-all the floors?"

She nods, "Start from the bottom until when you can for today. Just clean the hallways since there are assigned for some specific rooms," she added.

"Oh, thank you auntie! I'll work hard!" I assured her and she just smiled at me before pushing the cart away from me.

What the hell am I doing? Why do I need to do this?

I started mopping the floor and good thing during office hours; no one's walking in the hallway. Since I only have small parts and I actually have some janitor who's helping me, we all made the work easier.

I didn't really mind the employees because they don't mind us too. For real, I didn't feel any discrimination from them. Is this how Shin company discipline everyone?

Acting like a good company I guess?

"Ericka, let's go to the last floor," one of the employee, Marco, said.

"Ahh yeah, let's go," I replied.

While we're inside the elevator, I sighed and lean then close my eyes. "You're tired?" Marco noticed.

I open my eyes and look at him, "I never knew I'm going to clean a whole building when I can't even clean my own room," I just replied that made him laugh.

The elevator open and familiar faces welcomed at us. "What? Have some grudge on me?" I asked them, raising my brows at the guards.

"Ericka, what are you doing? Let's go," Marco pulled me away from them.

We started cleaning and I'm massaging my back as well as my neck. I'm near the CEO's secretary and I just found out that his name is Kalix Santiago.

I knocked on his desk that made him look up at me, seriously staring at me with his eyeglasses. "Ms. Ericka, right?" he asked.

I nods and smiles, "Yes Mr. Secretary," I confirmed.

"Uhm, do you need something? Do you want to have a conversation with the CEO?" he aske .

I shook my head, "Ahh no, I'm here to talk to you," I replied.

He gasped, "Ahh what is it?" he asked confusedly.

"Well, can I like apply as the CEO's personal room cleaner?" I asked him.

He obviously didn't expect that and I saw him blink more than twice. "Huh? Oh about that, I'll ask the CEO first and I'll inform you if what's his answer—"

"That's a no."

"Why not—oh! Nathan! I mean S-sir Nathan," I stuttered and then bit my lip.

I didn't even notice that he already opened the door and is already standing beside us. "Mr. Kalix, I have a meeting in half an hour, right?" the CEO asked.

"Yes sir," his secretary confirmed.

Then sir Nathan give his gaze at me, "Please stop with your nonsense and from now on you are ban from this floor," he stated.

"Huh!? Why? Wait! Did I do something wrong!? Look Mr. Oh-so-CEO, I accepted the job to be a janitress and now you're banning me here? In what grounds?" I complained.

He just looked at his secretary and then walks back towards his office. "Ms. Ericka, please have your way back," Kalix instructed in his calm yet cold tone as usual.

"Sir Nathan!" I called him that made him stop but didn't look back at me. "You know me, right? That's why you're not letting me near you," I accused.

Kalix interrupted me again, "Ms. Ericka please—"

"What!? Huh!? It's because you really know who am I, right? I'm going to find the truth as well so don't you ever think I'm backing out. Just because you're the CEO, doesn't mean you can do anything!" I shouted in teary eyes.

He turns around and our gazes meet. "I don't know what trash you are talking about right now but if you ever messes up with me, you will really regret it," he warned in his deadly eyes and then shut the door.

I almost feel on my knees so I immediately find support. Good thing Kalix is on behind me that he held my back but I pushed him and stand on my own.

"Please don't act hasty again, if you have something to blame on the CEO make sure to bring any proof," he stated.

I glared at him but he just remained calm as he always is. "I will really bring any proof and I'm going to arrest that man for murder," I stated.

"You're accusing someone groundlessly, Ms. Ericka. I might report you for that. So, please leave this floor now," he ordered.

"Ericka! What are you doing here, let's go!" Marco dragged me. "Sir Kalix, we're so sorry for this," he then apologized.

While Marco is dragging me out in there I looked back again at Kalix and he just nod at me. I rolled my eyes at him and pull it away.

I will make sure to take you all down.
