Chapter 25 - The Fate of Worlds

In fact, it wasn't only that dying world that asked for reinforcement from Earth via summoning. There were many such dimensions. And yet, Gideon's measure had ensured that they would not be able to connect to it or even tear into his defensive measures.

After determining that his summoning was the cause for the evil god to target the Earth then, he made sure to never allow such a thing to happen, not on his watch.

Gideon was working on maintaining the world-grade formation he set up for Earth's protection.

He left its active defenses to Atreus, his first disciple. In case there is a breach, he would not need to make a move. While he maintained this by checking up on it every week. This was his 'business trips' other than that time when he left for such a long time.

That's why Alice did not kike having his weak father being pushed around by others when her and her mother were strong enough to support their family.

Numerous otherworld were determined to take their revenge against this Earth dimension. Instead of ignoring this problem or avoiding it, numerous otherworld shifted their focus on this instead of focusing on defending against or resisting the evil gods.

Some were not even that devastated yet. They were developed enough to resist the weaker evil gods that targeted them and just like Earth, slowly developed ways to counter it. However, when they found out they could summon heroes from another dimension, their greed and sense of entitlement blinded them. When rejected they reacted like little children that were refused a candy.

They threw a tantrum. And their tantrum was directed at Earth who refused them their candy.

Gideon knew there will be outrage from otherworld dimensions, but he did not care as much for them as he did for Earth.

The various otherworld dimensions developed ways to bypass or even circumvent Gideon's measures to definitely have Earth taste their own medicine. One of such ways was to send their own troops to nearby coordinates. By nearby, it meant millions of kilometers away from Earth.

Once these troops arrived on the closest to Earth, Mars, they set up sanctuaries through various means. These sanctuaries were powered by magic. And with their magic technology and engineering they achieved easy terraforming of the land. Soon, the otherworld troops of one dimension successfully integrated itself a colony on Mars. Hidden from view deep underground.

Their plans were well thought out and would have succeeded under normal circumstances since the Divine Realm couldn't interfere even if they knew this was happening now that the road to divinity was closed, however, because there was a literal god among men in Gideon on Earth. A being who ascended with spirit and flesh present who could interfere on behalf of all gods in the Divine Realm, their plans can only be called untimely and irrelevant and most sad of all, inconsequential.

Gideon had the range of awareness that spanned across multiple planetary and solar systems in the Milky Way. For the otherworld people, Earth should have been the problem they avoided. They should have let sleeping dogs lie.

Now, Gideon found their presence and their plans bare in his eyes. How could they succeed? Even if Gideon stood still and let his formations do the work for him, the intruders wouldn't put a dent on the defensive measures he put up.

"Sir, we have successfully established the colony and terraforming is progressing stably."

"Good. Remember our mission. Since this is a last resort kind of mission, taking revenge is not our priority but to secretly invade and occupy a habitable planet for our kind to flourish in this other world. Although we are few, we have the right number of pairs to reproduce and sufficient technology to flourish given time. We must not reveal ourselves."

"Yes, commander."

"Good. Go and arrange for the steps to follow. Do as our magic engineers and technicians command for now."

"Sir, yes, sir!"

On Earth.

"Intruders, from another world?" Gideon sensed a fluctuation of great energy and scanned outwards.

The conversation between the commander and the subordinate then entered his senses as he focused on them. This was real-time.

"I see. They came with the pretext of revenge but instead, they are colonizing Mars for their race to survive and their history to continue. A bold move. However, they clearly don't understand the evil gods. As long as there are traces of life from the devoured world, the evil god will not be able to fully digest its gains.

"Once that is noticed, not only will the evil god not stop, but it will evolve and find ways to get to it.

"To nip this problem in the bud is my responsibility."

Gideon's figure flashed before disappearing.

Coincidentally, that was also the moment when a highly conspicuous box of intricately interwoven alloys of unknown materials appeared outside Earth's just before gravity can take hold of it. In fact, this was the sweet spot where neither Gideon's defenses nor the Earth's natural defenses are triggered.

The box slowly unlocked itself before its contents revealed itself. A small chipset-like item appeared and was caught by the Earth's gravity. The other one was a black goop that if seen by Gideon would make him frown to the deepest parts of hell.

This was the sliver of the evil god collected by another world sent here to give Earth a taste of their despair.

As son as the goop escaped from the container, it scanned the surroundings in stillness. Then, it was bombarded by cosmic energies, that aimed to annihilate even the very evil god that Gideon had vanquished here on Earth dimension.

It couldn't even sense Earth because of the concealment arrays set up by Gideon and the protection of the Divine Realm's YHWH, and yet it was annihilated from existence just seconds after it appeared.

The chipset-like item plunged into the Earth because of gravity yet because of circumstances, it couldn't even reach the surface because Gideon had set up his Flying Island to intercept any falling object from outer space not by flying there, but b attracting the falling object towards it.

The Flying Island's defenses did not even need to be engaged since the chipset-like item just did not emit any sort of intent or threat.

The chipset-like item, clearly the accumulated knowledge of a dying civilization landed close to Alice's lab located just on the edge of the Flying Island.

Alice was trying to experiment, but was greatly disturbed by the explosion and trembling she felt from above ground.

"What is happening?"

She went out to check things out and found the chipset.

She telekinetically took it up and sealed it with magic before taking it back inside.

"What is this thing?"

The next day at class, Alice and Selene met up s always and entered homeroom together.

Before the teacher came, Alice told Selene about her discovery yesterday.

"It fell from the skies and landed at my doorsteps can you believe it? Right now, I'm trying to crack its encryption so I don't know what's inside but I'm hoping it is something that could help my research."

"Really? Would that not be dangerous, Ali? You shouldn't bring things like those inside your home without knowing what it is first."

"Is that so? I thought it was safe enough. Hm. Maybe you're right. It's good I talked to you about this. Thank you, Selene."

The two continued with small talk before the teacher arrived. Then their subjects converged and split per period. On today's sparring, Alice was faced with an Elite girl who also practicing magic.

Her magic proficiency was low. Her talent was good but she was also just starting out. After all, not everyone was like Alice.

Soon, the fight started and she casted via incantation. While Alice draw a formation in the air using magic energy. This was an application of magic using formation or Formation Magic Arts taught by the academy primarily.

The incantation was done fast, but Alice was faster in drawing her formation and her spell was already deployed before the other girl could release hers.

Alice's magic was a defensive and auto-retaliatory spell. She put an attack spell inside the defensive spell which is triggered when any impact is received by the defensive spell.

As soon as the other girl's spell was released, the instructor immediately moved closer to her. Alice's defense spell was triggered and then the attack spell followed. The girl who released an attack spell at Alice was surprised by this display and was delayed in setting up a defensive spell.

In the end the instructor had to intervene because the spell that was released by Alice's attack spell formation was at the second circle already.

"She still can't gauge her opponent's true strength and are only doing things as a reaction. She still has a lot to learn." The instructor was proud and at the same time strict towards Alice. After the sparring, he gave both of them advice.

"Good job both of you. Jill, you were doing a great job with your spells but in battle, you have to be careful as a magician to never let your mind, your concentration wander off. I get that you were surprised but you have to watch out for that specific flaw, okay? That's all for Jill, for now.

"Alice. The school indeed is blessed with a genius like you appearing in school. However, you still lack experience. Don't use spells that could easily hurt your classmates or cause accidents to happen. Just because you know to cast spells of higher level than them doesn't mean you should. You have to gauge your opponents carefully. Considering whether you should go with what spell for specific opponents. Do you get me?"

"Yes, sir!"

"You too Jill, did you get me?"

"Yes, sir."

"Good. Now, for the next pair…"

Combat Class ended after a few more pairs had their fights. Next, was lunch.

Alice and Selene went to the cafeteria together. Before they stepped out of the room though, they were blocked by Jill and her friends.

Then, Jill put her hand around Alice's shoulder was she leaned closer to whisper.

"Alice you little punk, teach me after class will you?"

"Eh?" Alice was not expecting this.

She was expecting some type of bullying to happen after this development, but instead, Jill was lowering her head, in a roundabout way to ask her for help in learning magic. Alice was caught by surprise.

Even Selene who was getting ready to intervene felt like a deflated balloon after she heard Jill's whisper-like voice.

"Is that all? Sure. Let's meet after class."

"You sure? That's great! Thank you, little girl!"

"If we're going to have a productive cooperation, better stop calling me little girl. Call me Alice."

"Of course, Alice. So, sensitive." Jill laughed like a little child as they went to the cafeteria together. The pair had multiplied by 4.

Exactly after classes, Jill and her 3 friends with Alice and Selene went and borrowed a lecture hall for 1 hour.

There, Alice taught the magic arts method she uses to increase her control over magic energy. Controlling magic energy and controlling oneself were two very different things. So, what Alice taught was a method to increase control over magic energy as if it was natural. Which to her 'students' was equivalent to quantum physics. Even quantum physics was understandable compared to this.

As soon as the 1 hour passed, Alice also stopped her lecture and told them to just practice tonight and tell her what changed in the morning after. This way, she would also know how to adjust her 'teaching'.

They all agreed and left for home. As usual, Selene and Alice rode the same bus home.

"Ali, why did you agree to teach them?"

"Because they asked sincerely. They weren't asking to be taught with impure minds. So, I just did as my heart told me. Teach them and teach them well.

"Also, Selene, you should also learn some magic. This way, when my research is complete, I can help you become stronger as a close combat class fighter."

"I'd like that as well."

"Right?"

The two separated and arrived at their respective homes a bit late, but not too late. At home, Gideon was waiting for Alice expectantly. As soon as Alice saw her papa, her demeanor changed as if the cold and hard to approach Alice was gone, replaced by the sweet as pie little angel of her father.

"Papa! I'm home."

"It's good that you're home. I missed you so much. Welcome home!"

"Where's mama?"

"She's preparing for our dinner!"

"What are we having?"

"Lasagna!"

"Whaaaat?! My favorite! Thank you, mama! Thank you, papa!"

"No need. No need. How's school?"

Gideon asked and Alice answered truthfully. She enjoyed this part of her day the most. When her father would ask about her day and listen carefully. He even tries to help her understand some of the harder things to understand, but most of the times fail miserably. She doesn't find fault in him though, they instead pester her mother for the right answer.

Like this, Alice enjoyed her childhood like normal as well.
