'I even got his bow!'
Shapeshifting back into his human form, he began to think of all the possibilities this could bring him.
Now Kai could pass as a magical archer or just a mage who uses a bow. This way, he can hide his real class and evolution. He was still uncertain if he should ever show his true form in front of others.
Although he had never seen a magical archer, it was far more believable than being a Werewolf. Even if it brings some unwanted attention, it won't bring as much as being a Werewolf, hopefully.
{Equip 'Salazar's Bow'? Set 1/4}
1/4? This was less than the Spider Queen set.
'What could be in the Salazar set?'
Besides the bow, Kai wasn't sure what else he could have dropped.
Confirming it, another notification popped up.
{Equipped 'Salazar's Bow. +40 Intelligence +10 Mind}
'?!'
He actually got such a boost from equipped Salazar's Bow!
'What if I had a complete set? Would I gain an extra bonus?'
Just the thought made him drool. He was already getting +40 from one part of the set; what about the others?
"[Collect]!"
..
Nothing happened!
'Can I not collect bosses?'
Sighing, Kai made his way to the blue portal. He could never get enough of these portals; they looked ethereal. He could start at it all day. Unfortunately, that day is not now. Walking through the portal, a rotten smell entered his nose.
The foul smell was not what you would imagine looking at the orange, cloudy sky. The sun was setting, and soon the moon was to come out.
The rich green grass swayed in the light breeze, yet despite this, the only thing that caught Kai's attention was a solitary grave.
A silver chained fence protected the lonely grave.
The tombstone was a large square-shaped stone with a curve on the top. A cross was engraved at the bottom of the tombstone.
Although Kai could see more engraving, they were much smaller, and he couldn't make out what it said from where he was.
What stopped him from advancing was the blue particles coming behind the tombstone.
The exit portal!
'So where's the boss then?'
So far, every portal had a boss guarding it, yet he could see any life forms, let alone a boss. Walking through the grass, he made his way toward the tombstone and portal.
'What's so important about this tombstone that even the dungeon was named after it?'
The sky grew darker as Kai approached the metal wired fence, and the clouds departed. Leaving the dark sky clear.
Just as was about to wall over the fence that only reached his knees, a white mist covered the tombstone. The mist swirled around for a few seconds before taking the form of a women. She had ghostly white skin, almost translucent, with long pitch-black hair falling to her knees.
She wore a black dress that also went to her knees. A white bow was tied around her waist; her long black fingernails were sharp, capable of doing a considerable amount of damage to someone.
But the thing that caught Kai's eye the most was her eyes; they were pitch black, like a deep space of nothingness, with bags under her eyes, tears slowly dripped down her beautiful face.
Her hands caressed the tombstone, a sense of sadness appeared in her pitch black eyes, and the tears fell faster.
'{Inspect}!'
{Elisa, The Crying Banshee -Floor Guardian}
{Level-25}
'The tombstone must belong to someone important to her, but I don't get it. I thought monsters didn't have emotions, was she created just to suffer?'
Elisa didn't appear strong, and Kai was confident he could beat her, but why was she created with sadness? Whoever that tombstone belonged to was clearly someone she cared for, but this is a dungeon, and she was a floor guardian. Did the person that tombstone belong to never exist? Was she made with false memories to become 'The Crying Banshee'?
'This doesn't make sense.' Just thinking about it made Kai confused; after all, why would someone be made just to be sad?
Kai brought out Salazar's Bow and carefully crossed the metal fence.
The bow was almost identical to the one Salazar used besides its size. The bow shrunk to fit Kai's size, making it easier for him to carry and use. The bone riser was thicker than the rest of the bone bow. It was cold to the touch but also smooth.
The string weaved in and out of his fingers, getting a feeling of the bow. Although he hadn't used one before, he was confident it wouldn't be that hard.
He was only 20 feet away from the tombstone and floor guardian; it seemed like she didn't notice Kai or didn't care for him like all that existed was herself and the tombstone.
He now had a good view of the tombstone and could now read it.
"Here Rest A One Of A Kind Man"
"An Adventurer
A Hero
A Lover
May He Rest In Peace
Anton Flay Welth"
The air turned cold, and Kai's eyes widened in disbelief.
'How is this possible?'
Anton Welth was the author of 'Basics Of Dungeons' and 'Monsters & Beast.'
But how is he in the dungeon, let alone his grave, and just who is this floor guardian?
Did he die in this dungeon? Could the Banshee be Anton's wife? Could they both have died, but she came back as the floor guardian?
'If that's the case, why did the dungeon bring her back alone? No. Why did it bring her back at all?'
If they died together, it should have stayed that way; it was just cruel to bring back one without the other.
But that is what dungeons are. A cruel dark place where killing is the only option, a place like this wouldn't care about the feelings of two people.
Only now did Kai truly understand something about the world he lives in.
Strength was above all!
He could even go against the dungeons if he were strong enough.
'If the dungeons want to create a monster, then that's what they'll get.'
Walking closer, Kai was only a few feet away from the tombstone.
Only now did the Banshee look at him. In a soft, surreal voice that echoed all around him, she spoke to him, "Free me, end my suffering."
The Banshee pleaded to Kai, she had already spent countless crying, begging to be reunited with her husband, yet all she received was silence. All she needed to do was die once more, and it would be over. She could finally see her husband.
Hearing these words, the scenery changed. It was like he was watching life from above. He saw a young girl with long black hair, wearing a black dress with a white bow.
'The Banshee!'
She was crying. Something terrible happened.
It was like he was watching the life of the Banshee.
Hundreds of years ago, when her husband fell deadly ill, she made a deal with the Devil. In exchange for curing his sickness, she would have to endure 100 deaths as a floor guardian. She didn't understand how or why the Devil wanted her to become a floor guardian, but if it meant saving the only thing she cared for, she had no other choice.
Accepting the deal, her life was taken from her. The Devil turned her into an undead, and the tombstone dungeon was born.
Once Anton awoke from his coma, he could not find his wife anywhere he looked. That was until one night; he had a dream, a dream about his wife being stuck inside a dungeon.
And to his surprise, a new dungeon had appeared not far from his house. Entering in, Anton fought long and hard, clearing the first and second floors. Yet when he reached the third and last floor, all his fighting spirit vanished.
He entered the place where Kai currently was, yet there wasn't a tombstone; it was just an empty space with a black fence.
In the center was a white ghost figure with long black hair.
It was the Banshee!
When Anton saw his undead wife, he was in disbelief; despite what he saw, he still loved her dearly. The same was for Elisa.
Yet when she saw him, she cried; it wasn't just because she had missed him, but because she knew the only way for him to leave was to either die or kill her.
She pleaded with Anton to kill her, so he could leave and live a full life. Yet every time, he would always say, "How could I kill the very thing I love the most?"
In the end, Anton died in the arms of his wife.
Ever since then, Elisa The Banshee cried every day. She made a grave for him and spent every second she could with him.
Adventurers would come and go, but Elisa refused to kill a single one, always picturing Anton when she saw them.
But the only way for them to leave was to kill her; she didn't blame them and welcomed death. Over hundreds of years, Elisa only managed to die 99 times. Only one more was needed, and here Kai was.
~Swoosh~
His vision was brought back to the present, looking at the sad face of Elisa.
He didn't know what to say; the pain she went through was not something Kai could understand; he had long forgotten that kind of love.
"I'm so very sorry."
"[Shapeshift]!"
A white mist covered Kai for a few seconds before reappearing in his Werewolf form. He wanted to send her off painlessly. The best way was to do it fast.
"May you find peace with him once more."
~Thud~
His claws glowed white, slashing at her neck.
{Earned 5,000 Experience Points}
{Obtained, Tear of Elisa x1"}
"This isn't how it should have happened."
Kai never wanted this. He wanted to fight strong opponents and reach the peak, yet today he was forced to kill a woman who only knew love and sadness.
Kai's eyes flicked red, and his claws dug into his skin, "Damn you, Devil!"
