Chapter 24 - Noble

{Level Up! x4}

Even after leveling up four times, Kai wasn't in a better mood. Looking at the Banshee and grave, he sighed.

"Just who is this Devil, who has such power to make someone a floor guardian?"

The thought of someone that strong sent shivers down his spine. Shaking his head, Kai walked toward the blue portal that was just behind the tombstone.

Kai wanted to bury the Banshee with her late husband, but he knew her body would turn into mist shortly. There was nothing he could do. Kai stepped through the blue portal, saying his farewells to the couple.

On the other side, a blood-covered teen with white hair and purple tips walked out of the tombstone dungeon portal. Distracted by his thoughts, the teen didn't catch a shadow moving not far from the portal.

"Interesting. It seems like the rest of his group died, and the lone survivor was this teen."

The shadow man didn't even consider the possibility Kai was solo; it was simply unbelievable. The shadow man figured the blood on Kai was that of his party members. It was common for parties to enter a dungeon, and only one or two come out; that's why the shadow figure didn't think much of it. Nor did he have the time to investigate if he wanted to. He had strict plans he had to follow.

Walking through the mystical portal, Kai was greeted by the moon, hanging high in the sky; all the stars were visible. The air was cold, and clouds were in the far distance, "Winter should be soon."

Although he didn't know the exact day, Kai seemed to always know what season it was and when it would end.

In Nightmare City, there was very little snow to none, which was fortunate because he lived on the streets, yet Kai had always wanted there to be more. His thoughts drifted from the sad life of the Banshee to the white, cold winter to come.

Yet there was still one thought that lingered, 'What will happen to the last floor?'

The Banshee was no longer the floor guardian and could now rest in peace, so what or who will replace her? Kai was only level 24, he could go back into the dungeon as he's not over the cap, but he wasn't in the mood to go back into the dungeon.

Maybe he'll hear something about it at the adventure guild; surely, someone would report a floor guardian missing and a new one appearing.

"Ahh, whatever. I need some sleep." Letting out a tired breath, Kai stopped thinking about it. After being in the dungeon constantly fighting, he was worn out and wanted nothing more than to sleep.

There were still a few hours till the sun rose though it didn't make a difference to Kai. He didn't have plans for the day; he still didn't know if he should continue the beginner's course. He had all the books he could need, well, at least the basics. He could always go and buy more books.

There wasn't anything he could really gain from it.

Kai did want to learn a martial art or at least some close combat, but he wasn't sure where to go.

Opening the door to his room in the Graveyard Inn, Kai promptly flopped on the bed. In an instant, he was out cold. The blood that covered him stained the bed sheets, causing another problem when he awakes.

The sun quickly came, and the many people of Anfang City got ready for the day, yet Kai was still fast asleep.

His room didn't have a window, so there was no sunlight to interrupt him. It was only till half past 12 when he woke up.

"Aaah, what a mess."

Stretching, Kai noticed the blood-stained sheets and his clothes. He would either have to buy new clothes and sheets or wash them. Kai wasn't sure where he could wash them, but he was sure if he asked around, it wouldn't take long to find the place.

Getting up, he decided to look for a place to wash his clothes and sheets. Unfortunately, he didn't own the sheets, so the system wouldn't let him place them in his inventory.

Kai decided to ask the inn receptionist, "Is there a place to wash my clothes?" Calling them clothes might be stretching it as it was just armor and an undershirt, but he had nothing else to wear besides his cloak.

Looking at Kai's appearance, the receptionist was taken aback, "There's no place that washes clothes, but you can just ask a water mage to clean them for you."

Thanking him, he left the Inn; Kai noticed the streets were far busier than normal, especially for the part of the city he was in.

'Did something happen?' Kai thought.

What else could cause a commotion like this?

Looking at himself, Kai knew he might draw some attention, but it couldn't be helped. All he had to do was get to the inn; there, he could find a water mage to help him.

'I need some better clothes and more of them.' Thinking about it, an idea struck him.

Opening the shop on his system, Kai typed 'The Dead's Revenge.'

This was the sword he had gotten from defeating Zomva. Kai never had any intentions of using it, and now, with his bow, there wasn't any point in keeping it. If he could see it and buy new armor or clothes, then it would be worth it.

'25 SC? How much does that equal in coins?' It had to be a lot considering this was a tier:1 weapon.

All the prices were the same for a total of 25 SC each.

Putting his 'The Dead's Revenge' sword on the market, all Kai had to do was wait till someone bought. Hopefully, that wouldn't be too long.

'What is going on?'

Turning a corner, Kai saw that the street was clear, yet there were hundreds of people on the sides like they were waiting for something.

"Quickly outta the way!"

A boy only a few years older than Kai called out to him. The boy had short blonde hair and brown eyes; he wore normal clothes like that of a farmer. His appearance reminded Kai of that farmer that gave him the sun berries.

Moving quickly, Kai made his way to the side of the street, next to the teen who called out to him.

"What's going on?" He asked the teen.

"Nobles comin, even we farmers gotta pay em respect or else." He gave Kai a knowing look, yet Kai didn't know. But whatever it was, it wasn't something good.

'Nobles, huh? I've never seen one before.'

Kai was quite curious about what nobles would be like.

"I slept in, sorry. Thanks for the warning."

"Ye, it's no problem. I would hate to see somethin happen to ya. Hey, have we met before? Ye look familiar?"

Kai was positive he had never met the teen in front of him. Kai just thought he had mixed him with someone else. After all, he was still covered in blood, so people couldn't really see what Kai looked like.

"No, I just came to this city, actually."

'At least the people don't think much of my appearance, it seems like it's common around here.'

The teen farmer just nodded.

The sound of wheels caught Kai's attention and everyone else's. He could hear whispers.

"They're here."

"How do I look?"

'It seems like the people are eager to meet them.'

Kai thought it was a good thing people wanted to meet the nobles; after all, they couldn't be that bad then, right?

Currently, Kai was almost at the adventurer guild; the only thing stopping him was this street. He didn't know what would happen if he got in the way of the noble, so he decided to stay and watch. After the nobles passed, he could get to the adventurer guild.

The sound of steps came from the other side of the street.

A horse-pulled carriage came into view. The two horses had beautiful white hair, and the carriage was extravagant. Silver exterior with golden marking, the wheels were even silver. Only someone wealthy could afford such a thing. The black windows made it impossible to look into. In the front was a single man controlling the horses. On the side was a golden mark of an 'S' and a bird Kai had never seen before guarding it.

The man controlling the horses was an older man with clear signs of age; he wore a black suit and red bowtie. The little amount of white hair he had was neatly done and shaved face.

Despite their show of wealth and status, Kai didn't have anything to say about them. It wasn't like he would get a chance to talk to them, nor had he heard anything about whoever these nobles were.

He didn't even know what their family name was!

The silver carriage continued its way until it was in front of Kai. It suddenly stopped!

The coachman quickly approached the door that was in Kai's direction. He rolled out a white carpet for whoever was to exit the carriage.

Opening the door, the coachman held out his hand. A slender arm reached out of the carriage and held the coachman's.

A young teen girl walked out, and at one glance, many teen boys fell in love. She wore a blue dress that reached her knees and black heels. She had black gloves that went up to her forearms. A silver necklace hung around her neck. Her long blond hair swayed in the light breeze, and her sparking ocean blue eyes scanned the crowd of people.

When her eyes scanned over Kai's area, the noble girl let out a beautiful smile. Even Kai had to admit she was pretty. But the words that came from her mouth shocked him.

"Hello everyone! I am Cecilla Starla; it is a pleasure to meet you all!"
