Phoenix averted her eyes from looking at Ashton, while she rubbed away the tears that fell out from her eyes.
"No," she uttered.
Why would she watch a tragic romance story? Her life was once tragic enough. When she left that world behind, she wanted to see only the good and happy things in life, even though she knew, life wasn't always rainbows and unicorns.
Ashton slowly pulled Phoenix's face to make her look at him, while tenderly wiping her tear-streaking cheeks.
"I'm sorry. We won't watch this kind of movie anymore. It pained me to see you cry," Ashton said. Ashton made a note in his mind to never watch a tragic romance story with Phoenix again. Seeing her cry made his heart pain.
It reminded him of the night that he heard her cry in her sleep, because of a nightmare.
Remembering that memory, something tugged at his conscience. He hasn't confessed to Phoenix that he had sneaked into her house that day.
