A heart wrenching voice of someone apologizing accompanied by agonizing sobbing awoke Ashton from his sleep.
His eyes snapped open and he blinked it repeatedly to get a clear sight, in hope to get a clear hearing, as he thought he might be hallucinated hearing those cries. He turned his head towards the voice and the sobbing and his eyes fell on his phone that he had put on the stand on his bedside table.
He remembered that he didn't hang up the call that he made to Phoenix. He listened to her breathing sound when she had fallen asleep during their call to make himself fall asleep.
Ashton jolted from his bed and picked up his phone.
"Phoenix. What's wrong?" His voice was shaky, and his eyebrows drew together.
