Chapter 2 - Ralts

When Steven opened his eyes he was in a forest, trees and vines hanging down from said trees sprawled out as far as the eye could see. Steven did not know it but he was in a forest directly next to Pallet town, and this would be the start of his journey. Steven was so happy he could scream! He had wanted this adventure for so long and now he had earned a place in his own version of paradise. He tried to yell, but no sound came from his lips. "That's weird, am I still unable to speak?" he thought to himself, "maybe because i never spoke in my past life even though i have crossed over and should have a very healthy body, it just doesn't know how?" Steven pondered this for a moment before deciding that it wasn't worth staying stuck on it for too long. He had an adventure to go on, and first off he needed to figure out where exactly in the game he was, since this was a forest he assumed he must be somewhere in Viridian forest, as in the game that is one of the only large scale forests.

His thoughts were quickly interrupted by a rustle in the leaves to his left. He quickly tensed up and remembered the situation he was in and that maybe it was a good idea to be on guard here in this dense forests with no noticeable human presence. Steven looked at the area where the rustling sound was coming from and waited for the pokemon to appear. Then a pokemon with a white dress, a blue cap and what looked to be a spiked orange horn stepped into view. "It's a ralts!," Steven thought to himself excitedly, " And it's shiny!" That was when Steven noticed something that horrified him, the ralts's orange horn which should have been shaped like a boomerang, with smooth edges and graceful form was severely broken. It looked like someone had taken a hammer to it and tried to smash it to pieces! Steven then got very angry, demanding to know who would do such a thing to an innocent creature such as this one! Thoughts of anger, disgust, and most of pity. He knew that this pokemon must be in an incredible amount of pain, maybe it was running away from something?

'You grieve for me?' Steven suddenly heard in his head. It sounded like it was coming from directly behind him, in front of him, and next to him all at the same time! He whirled around in the spot where he was standing to look where the noise had come from, he did not have any protection at this moment and he needed to somehow guarantee the safety of both himself and this heavily injured ralts on top of it. 'There is no one else with 1.2miles of us, strange human. The voice you are hearing is my own. The being standing in front of you'

Steven slowly turned back to the ralts standing there not even 10 feet away from him. 'Can you hear my thoughts?' he thought to himself, hoping that the ralts could tell what he was thinking.

'Yes, i can strange human, this is very odd indeed, normally my species cannot hear thoughts until we have trained and evolved into kirlia. Normally we can only feel emotion, but something is different about you, your thoughts feel… heavenly, like you have been touched with omnipotence,' the ralts continued on.

'That is strange indeed, but beside that why are you hurt so badly? From what I know of your species this is definitely not a case of just wild pokemon fighting,' Steven thought back to the ralts and then added on 'it also may have something to do with the fact that I have not spoken. I haven't said a word since the day i was born due to a disease that left my body weak and paralyzed'

'I get it now, why you feel so different from the rest of the humans I have encountered. You understand our pain, and more so you are grieving with anger towards those that have done this to me even when you do not know why i am in this state,' The ralts thought back to Steven,' Well let me tell you my story.'

'You can tell me but lets pick a direction and start walking towards it so we can get to a city. They may have a pokemon center that can heal you.' Steven thought,' Can you detect any human civilization near here?'

The ralts paused for a moment before thinking to him,' yes, from what i can tell there is a human settlement roughly a mile to the east from here.'

Then Steven did something that the ralts was not expecting, he slowly walked over, bent down and picked up the ralts. The ralts was very startled and looked at him in confusion. Then Steven thought to him,' You are injured and limping, while i am healthy and in much better condition, while you tell me the story of how you came here, at least let me do you this small favour.'

The ralts wanted to protest but decided that maybe this was for the better and could help him recover faster in the long run and let him return to his people. 'Human, how i arrived here is not a story for the faint of heart, so let me know if you want to stop.' Steven nodded and the ralts continued,' It was a sunny and bright day, my mother and father were playing with me in the courtyard of our home near the caves with the rest of our people, roughly maybe 20 to 30 other people of my species. It was a normal day, my father the clan leader was so proud of me, they had never seen one of my species birthed of another colour, and they believed that I was chosen by Arceus to lead my people into a new era. That day was the day the humans who ruined my life attacked. They came into our area saying things like "wow there's a whole herd of them, I can't believe the info was actually correct" and "we'll make so much money". Then they attacked us with other pokemon, mainly poisonous species and electricity pokemon, the ones they didn't paralyze they poisoned to death.' Steven slightly tightened his grip but the ralts continued on anyways, 'They captured half of my sisters and brothers before they got me to me, my mother and my father. They said "look this ones a different colour!" and "It must have some sort of disease just kill it and capture the two that are protecting it". They were truly ruthless, my father put up one hell of a fight taking on three of what he called 'muk' and before I could protest or even attempt to help him, my mother was paralyzed by a sheep that could control electricity. She looked at me and then my father who was slowly falling ill from all the poison, and told me ' you are the hope of the future, get stronger, get bigger, evolve however you can, and when you are confident in your strength, when you gain allies that just as powerful as yourself, only then can you even think of returning. It was then that she issued the command 'TELEPORT' and before I could even say goodbye i was whisked away by an unknown force. The last thing i saw was my fathers mighty back unyielding to those who wore that wretched R on their shirts. The reason i am like this is because of them, they beat my people, tortured my family and almost succeeded in killing me.'

The ralts looked up at Steven and was instantly surprised at what emotions he was feeling from him. Steven was crying, he wasn't making any noise, only shedding tears. His emotions were a tidal wave of grief and pure hatred. The ralts thought to himself,' maybe if it is this human, he could help me become stronger, to avenge my people and maybe even rescue them.'

Steven thought to himself while crying,' those damn team rocket, i will give them a fate a thousand time worse than what they gave this ralts, they will suffer like i did, there will be no mercy from me.' While he had listened to the ralts's story he had gotten angrier and angrier, his rage was building, and now he knew at least one thing he would do. He would completely eradicate team rocket from this world, he would make sure they would never return and that they would never even think of returning, or else they would have to face him and his wrath!

Then the ralts thought to him,' Human the city is only a few hundred feet away you should be seeing it soon.'

Steven looked up and sure enough, in the distance he could see a small village. He started running towards the town, anger and grief in his heart but wanted nothing more than this ralts to be better, to see him smile was his only desire at this moment. This ralts deserved at least that after all that it had been through. He saw all the buildings getting closer, but he was disappointed when he did not see a pokemon center. He quickly ran up to an older looking woman and when she looked at him and then she looked at the ralts and immediately knew the situation. She looked at him in the eyes and said," There's no pokemon center here but the professor has a healer chancey in his lab! Quickly follow me!" She started running towards a big building that looked more like a mansion than a lab but that didn't matter to Nathaniel. He could feel the ralts slowly getting more relaxed and weaker in his arms, this had to be done right now or this pokemon would not survive!

They both burst into the lab and the lady screamed at an old man sitting at his desk typing away at his computer," Professor Oak! This Young man came running out of the forest with this pokemon that is critically injured! We need your healer urgently!"

Oak didn't even hesitate for one moment as he ran over to the pokemon system PC and called forth a pokeball. He said," Chancey we are in need of your assistance!" Suddenly a light filled the room, and an egg shaped pokemon with pink fur and skin popped out of the ball and squealed "Chanceyyy!" and the pokemon quickly grabbed the ralts and left to go into the back room to heal it.

Oak looked at the woman and said," thank you diana, i need to speak with this child alone for a bit, to understand his circumstances and how we got to this point, i will come by your residence later and properly thank you then." Oak bowed towards the woman, which she returned and quickly left. " Now then young man," Oak said as he leveled Steven with a glare, "could you inform me why I have a half dead ralts in my backroom?"
