Chapter 16 - A Symbol

A week had passed since they moved. However, even after so many days Lucifer still hadn't discussed his plan to free Rumi.

"Luci, have you come up with an idea? Please don't delay any longer, I don't know how Rumi's condition is now. Arion must have known if we moved, I don't know what he will do to Rumi." For the umpteenth time, Yena urged Lucifer.

"Let's talk about this after I get home." As usual, Lucifer always avoided her.

The man put on his jacket and said casually, "I'll buy you the biggest bed. Do you want anything else? I'll buy everything, whatever you want."

Yena squeezed a smile.

"Don't act like it. What if I want all the gems in the Seoul store? How much money do you still have?"

"Many. I still have a million scales on my body," said Lucifer, tugging at the corner of his lips, a typical smug smile.

"Guys, hurry up please!" Leon who was waiting outside shouted.

"The crow is very naughty. Hurry up and go, don't take too long." Yena said.

"It won't take long! Are you sure you don't want to come?" asked Lucifer.

"No, unless you promise not to hug me all the way," Yena said.

"I'm just worried that you feel uncomfortable here. just come along, I won't hug you, you just ride on my back."

Yena squeezed a smile. It felt like she wants to throw a rock in Lucifer's face.

"Just go there yourself."

"Okay. Then you just stay in your room. Don't step out of the door an inch, understand?" After saying that, Lucifer rushed off without hearing Yena's reply.

"Yes, I know!" Yena chuckled softly. She took a deep breath. This week she had been restless thinking about Rumi. Hopefully, Arion doesn't take his anger out on Rumi because they have run away.

Knock tock

A knock on the door interrupted Yena's thoughts.

"Oh?" The girl frowned in surprise. Why did Lucifer come back again? No, it was neither Lucifer nor Leon. How could they bother knocking on the door? But... does anyone else know about this place?

Knock knock

The beat just got louder. Yena swallowed her saliva and slowly walked towards the door. She lifted the curtain to see the uninvited guest.

However, her eyebrows immediately rose as soon as she found that there was no one out there. Yena opened the door and indeed there was no one outside.

"Damn it!" The girl closed the door again, quite firmly. The hairs on her neck stood up for a moment.

"... The area around here has been inhabited by spirits for a long time."

Yena smiled wryly as she remembered Leon's words. How could she forget, right now she was in the middle of the realm of spirits?

After Lucifer left, only then did Yena realize the situation. She grabbed her shoulder, which was shaking.

"Please! Who are you guys? Don't bother me!" Yena pulled back the curtain in annoyance.

"Oh...."

Several foreign faces pressed against each other and stuck to the glass, causing Yena to suddenly close the curtain again with a pale face.

"Th-that's a lot...." Yena touched her forehead in surprise.

"Lucifer... please come back quickly...." Yena held her breath and returned to the room with stiff steps. Her body was already cold and shaking.

Even though she couldn't see, she could feel that many creatures were watching her from outside.

Yena suddenly felt sorry for not going with Lucifer. Isn't it better to be hugged by a handsome man along the way than to be caught in the middle of these spirits?

"Why didn't Lucifer tell me it would be like this? How dare...." Yena complained as she walked to the bathroom to wash the cold sweat off her forehead.

She had just opened the bathroom door and something hanging in front of the door immediately blocked her view. Something ... familiar. The black hair that dangled and the white eyes almost knocked Yena's heart out of place.

"A-ah!!!"

....

Crat

Crat

"Uh...." The splash of water startled Yena's facial nerves and woke the girl up. As soon as she regained consciousness, she immediately panicked. Especially when she saw the creature was still there, poked its head from behind the bathroom door.

"G-go away!! Don't come any closer!" Yena shuffled backward in fear.

The creature instead came out and crawled closer to her.

Yena wanted to scream, but her voice seemed to be stuck in her throat. Especially when the creature brought its face which was completely covered in hair. Yena hopes that she faints again, why does she have to wake up quickly, anyway?

"Y-you... a--poor girl-- hihihi." The creature's hoarse voice made Yena's hairs go down, even more, no, she even felt that all the hairs on her body were running out of fear.

In her entire life, this was the first time she had come face to face with a ghost, let alone this close.

However, in this state, she could only embolden herself.

"Stay away... how dare you come here again, if you bother me Lucifer won't let you go!" Yena threatened.

"Hihi...." The Cheuksin laughed and crawled around Yena while scanning the girl.

"I won't hurt you. I mean, even though I wish I couldn't touch you. It sucks... hihi-hi."

"What do you mean?" Seeing that the creature had no intention of harming her, Yena began to breathe a little. She got up and walked away from the creature.

It was only now that she could see the figure of the creature known as Cheuksin. Nothing could be observed as its long hair covered almost its entire body.

For a few moments, they watched each other. The Cheuksin stretched out its hand to Yena, but it immediately pulled it back and then chuckled, "That Hihi Imoogi... seems to be very protective of his pet. He even marks you with his possession. Hihi celestial beings do have high self-esteem and prestige."

"What do you mean?" Yena still doesn't understand his ramblings. The Cheuksin continued to circle Yena and stopped behind her, staring at the vague symbol on her shoulder.

"Lucifer left a mark of his possession. A rudimentary mark, once this mark is perfect you will completely become his pet. Poor girl, lol. Even though your soul smells quite fragrant. If it weren't for Lucifer's pet you would be our delicacy."

Yena reflexively held her shoulder, stunned.

"Do you feel the thirsty creatures watching you out there only because of this symbol they did not dare to approach? Otherwise, they will tear your soul apart."

"All those things you said… what did they mean? Pets? Symbols? What… all those things?" Yena looked at the Cheuksin with eyes filled with a curious mist.

Now, all her fear seemed to have faded, replaced by a great sense of confusion.

"Hihihi, why don't you just ask him? Ahh! He's back. See you later." The Cheuksin jumped into the bathroom and somehow disappeared when Yena caught up with it.

"Wait! where did it go?" Yena looked up into the bath but The Cheuksin was gone.

"What symbol does it mean?" Yena curiously looked in the mirror, flipping her hair only to see an abstract, coin-sized image on her shoulder. if you look closely, it looks like a snake's eye. More specifically, Lucifer's eyes.

Yena is stunned. Her beautiful brows furrowed deeply.

'Lucifer left his mark of ownership. A rudimentary sign, once this sign is perfect you will completely become his pet....'

"What does all this mean? How long has this symbol been here?" Yena muttered in a daze.
