Morning came far later than usual. Nelphy, Jash, and Bil were up late, deep in thought, each for different reasons. But they all got up at sunrise regardless of how tired they were. Jash and Nelphy were excited to finally see a city, so there was no time to waste.
They decided to travel via the main road to speed things up. It forced them to backtrack a little but it was still much faster in the long run, cutting off a full day of travel.
One and a half days was all it took. Then, Jash and Nelphy couldn't help but smile wider and wider with each step.
"I see it!" shouted Nelphy, pointing into the distance. "I see the city wall!"
"Finally! Frantoch! …" Jash was in awe of the towering walls. They stood twelve bromes tall and dwarfed the buildings and wooden walls of the town resting outside of the city gate.
"Sorry to disappoint you, but we're not staying in the city–"
"What–"
"But–"
