Chapter 19 - First Experiment

Asmodeus had her head on a pillow, her mind now a whirlwind of thought and anger as she plotted and schemed her way, a soft voice whispering behind her ears as a knock comes from the door.

"Uh..... Miss Asmodeus? I found grampa's phone." Rosalie peeks through the door, her eyes a bit unsure. "Do you still wanna have it?"

Asmodeus turns to her, a bright smile on her face. "It's fine. I just needed to call your grampa.". She peeks behind her to see the two other kids. "What have you guys been doing?"

Rosalie fidgets. "Well, Arthur and Attie wanted to try this." She pulls out a book from behind her. A book titled, 'An Idiot's Guide to fucking shit up with science.'

Her smile falters, "I see, and what do you kids want to do with it?"

"They are obviously planning on fucking shit up." A voice responds, a small screen appearing beside Arthur, Merlin's excited smile, hovering right beside him.

The three children jump from the screen, Merlin cackling at their reaction as he asks. "I have returned, children! And oh? Who's the new kid?"

Rosalie waves her hand, her eyes wide in surprise as she holds in her excitement, "Rosalie Dracul, sir. I'm a huge fan. I've read each of your books!"

"Oh? Vlad's kid?" He smiles. "And thank you, I don't meet a lot of fan with regard to my alchemy."

The screen then turns to Arthur. "How about you, Arthur? What would you like to do? Because I have here a recipe, one that three of you would be perfect for."

A letter appears in Arthur's hands, his eyes glancing back at him as he asks. "What is it for?"

Merlin chuckles. "Well, it's mostly harmless, I suppose. Nothing to be bothered with. It is an experiment I designed just for you."

Arthur looks at him in suspicion, his eyes scanning the document beside him in scrutiny until Rosalie grabs him, stars in her eyes as she asks, "What is it! What is it! A recipe from Merlin himself!"

Arthur just freezes at her touch, her face sticking to his as she puts her arms around him, giggling to herself as she reads through the recipe before them.

Attie whispers, "Are they going to be ok?"

Asmodeus sighs, her eyes scanning the girl before her, grey eyes looking back as a soft voice whispers on the back of her mind, jealousy rearing its ugly head.

She shook away the thought, giving her a reassuring smile. "Merlin, wouldn't make something that would have a miniscule chance of ever hurting Arthur. So, I think we're good."

Attie's eyes linger for a moment till she turns. "Yeah, let's fucking hope so."

Their eyes turn to see Arthur's dopey smile as he listened to Rosalie's long rant about each individual ingredient. His eyes dilated as she rubs her cheek with his.

Attie nods, "Yeah, we're fucked."

Remulus freezes. "I felt a disturbance." His hand taps his chin. "There's something wrong happening in my house. I can feel it."

Vlad then nods beside him. "Hmm. I feel like someone is getting way too close to my granddaughter." He crosses his arms. "Closer than I would like."

Tentacles then erupts in front of them. Remulus looks up and grips the sword on his side, slashing it into pieces as it bursts open. "You know, I have never fought a monster this overpowered."

"Overpowered? It's just a kraken but smaller. Sure it has an anti teleportation field but that's it." Vlad turns to him, blood pooling at his feet, obliterating its tentacle's remnants.

Remulus shakes his head. "Oh yeah? But does it have a philosopher's stone?"

"Wait, it has!?" With his word, what little remained of the monster blew up into a mass of blood. Contorting, regenerating into a into clones of itself, screaming as it rampages with renewed vigor.

The Olympians around them struggling to contain it, well, struggling against it with their weakened mortal bodies.

"Holy shit, what kind of maniac would even do this? A philosopher's stone just for a monster?" He turns around him, the mortals running away, screaming. "It isn't even killing anyone."

"It isn't supposed to." Remulus rubs the bridge of his nose. "There's only a few people that have both the knowledge and resources to create a philosopher's stone."

His smile twitches. "And fewer that would use it for something so frivolous."

"Yes! There it is! Just add a bit more salt, for flavor!" Merlin orders, Rosalie following his every command as Arthur takes and deposits ingredients at her side.

Arthur looks at the ingredients. "Is this really part of your alchemical potion?" He looks at the bottle of soda in his hand. "This seems like a soda from school."

"Oh yeah, definitely! It's one of my most dangerous and acidic potion, a perfect combination for everything else." He giggles to himself as a plume of smoke erupts.

"Now! Wait a few more seconds, and we'll be ready to create one of this era's important alchemical projects." Merlin shouts with glee, his screen spinning the hazardous mass of potions.

Rosalie nods fervently, "Ok, sir! Is there anything else?"

Arthur whispers at her side, "I don't think this is a good idea."

"What do you mean, bla bla bla?" She grabs her mouth as she stutters, looking around, a bit uncertain, her tick coming out from her anxiety. "Did I do something wrong? You think I messed it up?"

"No, no no. I don't mean it like that! It's just are you sure we can trust him?" Arthur whispers into her ear, his eyes on Merlin excitedly watching.

Rosalie audibly gulps, her eyes shifting as she whispers back. "But he's one of the best alchemist out there! I need to impress him! Maybe he'll take me as a student!"

"What are we whispering about?" Attie whispers between them.

Both Rosalie and Arthur yelps in shock as the two of them tip over the green hazardous mass of potions, spilling across the ground as the three children run behind the door.

Merlin cackles in laughter as the screen vanishes like smoke. "Thanks a lot, children. You have given me what I needed! Now not even Remulus could stop me!"

The gelatinous mass of green spins to its center, like a hurricane swallowed into a portal to the abyss. A few seconds pass and Asmodeus arrives, her eyes inspecting the phenomenon before her.

She facepalms. "I should've known. This idiot would do this."

Merlin's head appears through the portal, his smile wide. "Ha! This wizard has his tricks! And he thought he could separate me from Arthur!?"

Remulus beside him and grabs his head. "Yeah, I don't think so." He pushes him down as Merlin shouts, "Uhrrk, wait.... how are you back!? Wait! C'mon! You can't do this to me."

His head mouth gets dipped in, "Do you know how much I-"
