Darkness
That was all Yin Li could feel.
He couldn't see nor hear anything.
Just the feeling of darkness, blinding him from the world.
It wasn't as cold as one would imagine.
The darkness had a cozy feeling, one that made him feel warm and comforted.
Inside that cozy darkness was a small dull white ball of consciousness.
It was slowly starting to shine, growing brighter and brighter with each passing second.
After a long period in the darkness, Yin Li woke up.
'Where am I….?'
Fragmented thoughts formed in his mind. His mind felt like a sea of clouds. It was all blank white.
Skew thoughts entered his mind as he tried to remember what last happened to him.
Memories slowly flowed into his mind as time passed before he could finally think much more clearly than before.
'Didn't I die…? Why can I still think?'
Just a moment ago, he was sure he had been killed by a shadowy figure with a knife.
He couldn't remember many details about the shadow figure, except for the unusual hoodie that the figure wore and the flashy silver knife that looked brand new.
'Could it be just a dream?'
Recalling the momentary experience that felt like it occurred only a couple of seconds ago, Yin Li felt a wave of coldness, chilling his bones.
It definitely did not feel like a dream.
And this didn't seem like this was the afterlife either.
It appeared to be just a blank space full of darkness.
A place where he couldn't move nor talk.
He started to think deeply.
That was when he realized that he couldn't feel any parts of his body like they were all gone.
Could it be that he was in a coma?
His mind lit up.
A coma made perfect sense!
Perhaps, he was in a state of unconsciousness and couldn't move. That sounded like the only logical explanation.
And most coma patients came out of their coma!
Wouldn't that mean he could still see his family again?
Happiness filled his mind at the thought of being able to see his family.
However, a hint of fear flashed in his eyes, recalling the recent incident.
He was scared that something would happen to them.
He knew that he had to become stronger to protect them first. He didn't want to let any member of his family die again.
Another realization suddenly hit him.
Wasn't this the perfect time to practice Qi!?
Remembering the events that led up to his death, he knew that he had to become stronger to obtain revenge against the one who killed him.
His father had already died many years ago about the same time Yin Li first started to practice Qi to become a Qi practitioner after a lucky encounter.
Using the power of Qi, the mysterious energy found in the air, and all living beings, he planned to strengthen himself much more than before.
His heart was filled with rage, thinking about the person he encountered a couple of months ago, a Qi practitioner he befriended.
They became enemies and fought intensely recently, and his cultivation was reset to nothing according to their agreement.
As he was powerless, someone killed him. He guessed that it was probably the enemy he had fought with intensely, stabbing him in the back.
Hopefully, it was still possible for him to practice Qi despite being in a coma.
Reciting a scripture in his mind from the Qi Practitioner's notebook that he obtained long ago, he slowly started to absorb the Qi from the air around him.
A white stream of Qi entered his body and started to flow within it before finally entering his dantian.
The white stream of Qi slowly settled down into the bottom of his dantian.
"Haha! I did it!"
He could cultivate!
Yin Li was always considered talented in the methods of practicing Qi.
Maybe it was possible for him to become an expert when he woke up and defeat those who killed him.
He wanted to escape from this coma as soon as possible but knew that the only thing he could currently do was practice his Qi and wait in hopes of waking up again.
Absorbing the Qi into his dantian, Yin Li diligently passed all day and all night, hoping for a chance to escape the darkness.
