Chapter 1 - The Beast Inside : I

Sweat cascaded from my brow, drenching my already soiled clothes, my eyes paid no mind as I stared down at the beast in front of me. It stared back, the reptilian eyes never blinking, licking its pearly white razor-sharp teeth at me hungrily, each one larger than my own body. In my peripheral, I saw my fallen comrades torn to shreds by this beast, their limbs scattered all around the cave. I tried my best to keep my composer, biting down on my tongue to stop any unwanted noises from escaping. The beast was just toying with me now, enjoying and basking in its victory, which irked me to no end. I wanted revenge, I wanted to take something from this beast before my eventual death. So I did the only thing I could think of, I hyped myself up, veins erecting out of every crevice on my body, foam forming around my mouth as I bit down on a false tooth. My vision going red I went into a blind drug-infused rage and charged the beast. It looked at me with curiosity as I beelined for it, a chuckle escaped its maw, a bright glow forming on its abdomen, quicker than I could react the beast bellowed a torrent of bluish flames towards me.

Slow to react I dived as best as I could away, the flame licking at my legs, transforming them into a charred mess. Ignoring the almost nonexistent pain, I stood up. The flesh peeled away, meat along with skin melted away leaving almost nothing but bone. This didn't deter me as I continued my charge at the monstrosity in front of me, its towering form looming, its size comparable to the largest castle in the realm, what spurred us to fight this beast was beyond me at the moment as I took a few steps and fell, the bones brittle bones shattering from my weight, blood pooled covering everything in a deep crimson, my eyes bloodshot still glaring unblinking at the laughing beast. Knowing I couldn't reach the bastard, I did the only thing my drug-addled mind could think of, I reared back as far as I could and chucked my greatsword across the cave, it sored across the cave, the beast to occupied reveling at my defeat that it didn't notice until it was too late.

The sword plunged into the beast's right eye, blood and ooze leaked from the wound as the beast roared from a mix of anger and pain. The beast lashed out at the surroundings around it, tearing at chunks of the cave, crushing some of the corpses of my friends, and flinging debris everywhere. A small smile came to my face, as the drugs began to wear off, the pain started to filter its way back in, but I just chuckled ignoring it. The beast only grew furious with my display, stopping its pain-fueled rampage. It glared dagger at my prone form, but that didn't deter me, I knew I was a goner, might as well make sure this thing remembered me. Laughing hysterically at this point, the pain insanity-inducing, the beast seemed to have had enough, as the glow once again returned to its abdomen. Moments after the bluish flames once again cascaded towards me, this time I didn't move, accepting my fate for what it was, as the flames melted my skin my laughing never ceased until everything went black.
