"God Damn it!" I screamed at the top of my lungs.
A *1* was present on the table in front of me, a twenty-sided dice stood stock still mocking me as I stared down at it. Giggling took place around me as I ran my hand through my dirty blonde hair, feeling the light curls giving some slight resistance.
I turned towards the giggling and smiled, "Well that didn't go as planned."
All four of my friends busted out into hysteria, my buddy Michael falling off of his chair and onto the floor, clutching at his side. "God Hunter took you long enough!" Micheal breathed slowly, getting up and sitting back down, wiping an imaginative tear from his eye.
My other friends shook their heads playfully at his display, and all of us started to shuffle some papers on the table around, "Well guys with that last fight I would say that concludes this campaign, so before we end the session, I want you all to roll up new characters, and start thinking about backstories for them." Explained a scrawny brown-haired boy, sitting behind a decorative cardboard screen blocking our view of the content behind it.
All of us nodded our heads in affirmative, and like clockwork, we started to roll our six-sided dice to get our attributes, we then decide upon the class that we want to play ranging from a raging barbarian to a scholarly wizard, lastly our background which also has a large selection ranging from the poorest street urchin to the Noblest Noble. A few of my friends cheered when they finally rolled their dice, throwing their hands up in excitement, while others grumbled under their breath at their misfortune. I for one didn't really care what I rolled or what class I played, I was just here to enjoy their company, and looking around at all my friend's faces always brought a smile to my face. We didn't hang out as much as we used to, work and college getting in the way, but we made as much time as we could.
So a little after twenty minutes we all had our new characters crafted, "So Gabe," I began, "Are we going to work on our backstories now, or are we deciding that it would be better to do them later?"
Gabe answered nonchalantly back, not looking up from the page he was reading, 'We can do it either now or later it's up to you guys."
Wanting to get this show on the road I elected to start working on it now, brainstorming concepts and ideas, and occasionally sending texts to Gabe asking him if certain things I thought up were allowed. He texted me back giving me the green light to proceed, mentally cheering I brought pen to paper and finished up, smiling at my work. Gabe went around the room and collected our sheets and began to read and go over our stories, telling us to browse our phones, that it would be a few minutes before he was finished reading.
So all of us did exactly that, Micheal, Victor, and I got up from our seats and plopped down on a nearby couch, victor a heavy-set blonde with a hint of a neckbeard took the spot to my left, pulling out his phone to browse. I did the same knowing that it could be a while before Gabe was ready to see us again, so we waited as the clock on the wall ticked. An hour would pass before he was ready for us to come back into the room, he had us all sit back down in our seats, the corners of his mouth rising, my eyes closing as he spoke, "Well guys, let's get you back to The Land of Segye!"
