Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

Sarah's father's funeral was attended by many business colleagues. Including Mitchell's parents and extended family. However, the funeral must be tarnished by the refusal of Sarah's birth mother to violently evict her daughter in front of everyone.

Sarah was like a stranger to her extended family gathered at her father's funeral. Plus, the mother, who did not allow her to approach even just to apologize, was last in front of the coffin of her father, who was her first love.

Pain, that's what Sarah felt when her mother violently pushed her body again and screamed for Mitchell to throw her out of there. Of course, her husband couldn't possibly do that. Instead, he asked someone else for it.

"Stay away from here! I don't want to look in your face. You killed my husband!"

"Mom, please forgive me. Don't do this to me, Mom.. Let me say goodbye to dad's corpse. I'm begging. At least, one last time."

"Either you out of my sight! Mitchell, get this woman out of my sight. I don't have a murderer's son!"

"Mom … don't say those hurtful words. Sarah apologizes for all my mistakes."

Two people dressed in black held their right and left arms and half dragged Sarah from the burial area. In the midst of everyone's gaze, Sarah felt naked by her own mother.

She was very disappointed because she was humiliated by her own family. Even Mitchell, her husband, didn't want to help.

"Let go! I can walk alone without your help! Get out of my sight!"

Sarah walked away from the cemetery area. On the way, she saw the figure of Thalia sobbing in Devan's arms, turned to Sarah and glared at her with hatred.

"Thalia … my baby … Come here dear. Let me hug you. I ..."

"What Grandma said is true? Did you kill Grandpa? Why would you do that to Grandpa and make Grandma cry? Will you also do this to me if I don't obey Mom's orders?"

Sarah went crazy. She screams and tries to deny all the accusations that everyone has leveled at her. Perhaps, if someone else had said it, Sarah would have gone berserk and hit them.

But, it's her daughter. Thalia, who said that painful thing in front of her, was witnessed by Devan, who cynically looked at her. All Sarah could do was throw herself in front of her little girl and burst into tears.

"Mommy's cry is an answer that you will do the same thing as you did to Grandpa."

"No, dear Thalia. Don't say that. I'm not a murderer. I love you all. Please, I'm sorry."

"Uncle Devan, take me away from here. Grandpa must be waiting for me at his final resting place."

Without a word, Devan brought the little girl, the child of Sarah and Mitchell, his best friend. Meanwhile, Sarah, who witnessed this, tried to stand up and chase her daughter. But, again, she was blocked by two people dressed all in black who stared at her intently.

"Thalia, don't do this to me. Please, don't leave me alone."

Sarah, who was unable to withstand the huge shock due to the loss of her father and the hatred of the people who had supported her all this time, fell unconscious.

The two men immediately took Sarah to Sarah's car and ordered the driver to take her home. After that, walk away not caring.

Falling alone without anyone to support, that's how Sarah felt this time. It was all Sarah's fault. But, not purely because of her.

Sarah woke up in her bed with a headache. There's no one there. Only Sarah alone. And it seemed, from today onwards, she would have to get used to it on her own.

Sarah thought of Abraham. The man who had been her lover. A quencher who always satisfies the chill of the nights Sarah spent without Mitchell.

And now, Sarah hates him. Because, according to him, Abraham is the one who should be responsible for the death of his father. Sarah thought Abraham was the one who sent their photos to his parents' house.

"I'm going to kill you, Abraham. You've made me lose everyone's trust, including Mitchell, my husband, and Thalia, my daughter. I'll make sure you don't survive this time."

She started crying to herself again. Loneliness made him realize one thing; Della Hernandez's karma…

Mitchell actually felt sorry for Sarah. He really didn't understand what was the real reason why his father-in-law had a heart attack and died.

More surprisingly, the cold attitude shown by his mother-in-law to Sarah, his wife. The woman who had given birth to Sarah suddenly hated her own daughter and called her a murderer.

He was so shocked when his mother-in-law pushed Sarah away from his father-in-law's coffin and told him to kick his own wife out.

But Mitchell wasn't that crazy. He chose to send two of his personal bodyguards to take Sarah away from the burial area. Meanwhile, he tried to calm his mother-in-law by hugging her body.

"Mitchell, please convince mama not to do this to me. Please, let me see papa one last time. Mama...don't do this to me. Please…"

Sarah's desperate screams amid the mourners surrounding her father-in-law's coffin made Mitchell go awry.

He felt sorry for Sarah. However, the mother-in-law immediately grabbed her by the arm and shook her head weakly in disapproval of what she wanted to do.

"I'd rather lose that cruel daughter and have her thrown out into the street than have Sarah approach my husband's coffin. Don't do that, Mitch, or you'll regret it."

Her mother-in-law's words to her were like the biggest question mark that made Mitchell decide to follow her words.

Moreover, his parents, who were also present there and looked at Mitchell and then shook their heads, made him cancel his intention again.

"After this, I have to find out what really happened. Why does my mother-in-law hate Sarah? And what was the cause of my father-in-law's death?"

Mitchell saw the arrival of Thalia, his daughter and Devan. He saw the sadness in his little girl's eyes. However, that was not the main focus, but Devan's gaze as if he wanted to say something important to him.

After Thalia was beside him, Mitchell asked his daughter to accompany his grandmother while he chose to walk closer to Devan and away from his father-in-law's funeral area.

"Someone has sent photos of your wife's affair with Abraham. But really, it wasn't me. It seems that someone else has a grudge against your wife. But, for sure, it wasn't Abraham."

Devan's explanation, of course, made Mitchell even more confused. He had no idea how Sarah , who was known to people as having a flawless nature, had so many enemies.

"Do you know who did it? And what was the motive for that person to send the evidence of the affair?"

"Until now, I haven't found out who did it. But, what is certain is that she knows Sarah very well. It seems we have to be more careful and not take the wrong steps. We don't know who the real enemy is."

Mitchell was silent and tried to remember who the people Sarah had been in contact with from before they married until now. However, he did not find a bright spot.

"Do you suspect anyone, Devan?"

His friend shook his head slowly. And that confused Mitchell. He really does not understand what and who is behind all the events that happened to his wife's family.

Mitchell decided to put aside whose business he suspected. Currently, he chooses to focus on accompanying his mother-in-law, who is devastated by the death of her husband, who is his father-in-law. Moreover, the cause of death was Sarah, their own daughter.

Mitchell thought, for the next few days, he and his daughter would accompany his mother-in-law to stay at his residence until he was sure that his mother-in-law would be okay without them.

Regarding Sarah, his wife, Mitchell chose to stay away. He wanted Sarah to think about her mistakes and regret her actions. Although disappointed because, once again, Sarah became the culprit for everything that happened.

In the midst of the many problems that befell, the doctor he asked to check Thalia's DNA, his daughter contacted. And again, Mitchell gets a harsh reality that makes him hate Sarah even more.

"The test results prove that ninety-nine percent of Thalia is not your flesh and blood. I'm sorry, but that's the truth."

Mitchell took a deep breath and leaned back against the sofa in the doctor's room who was his best friend.

He doesn't know whether to be happy or sad to hear this truth. But, to be sure, Mitchell had to ask Sarah directly and sort things out.

"Does that mean Sarah set me up? She was pregnant before we got married, and made it look like my ex-fiancé was the one to blame for something she didn't do? Oh my God, what did I do to Della? I'm such an idiot!"

"You don't have to regret everything that happened, Mitch. All you have to do now is work things out without hurting and blaming yourself. You and Della, my ex-fiancé, are victims of Sarah's ambitions."

"You're right. I shouldn't blame myself for something I never did. Thank you for everything. I'm going home now and working things out."

"Don't put your emotions first. Remember, your daughter is also a victim of Sarah's ambitions and evil intentions."

Mitchell nodded his head and smiled softly at his best friend before leaving the hospital and looking for Sarah.

"Once again, thank you."
