Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

"So, it was that woman who made you leave Mitchell? Do you know the reason for the woman who you say is Mitchell's private secretary and best friend of mine?"

Javier Mascherano finally found out what the reason was. That Delia decided to leave the life of a man named Mitchell and chose not to attend their wedding blessing. However, Delia didn't tell Javier what made his childhood friend obey Sarah's words.

"I can't tell you that, Javier. Let me keep a secret to myself until I die. That's much better than having to make a new mistake," Delia said quietly.

"And let that sly woman be happy with their marriage? Have you gone mad, Delia? You let that woman tell lies and make Mitchell hate you half to death?" Javier replied emotionally.

"Let it go. Maybe it's much better than Mitchell still thinking of me as a good girl. It would be better for him to remember me as a bad woman who left without a message on our important day together," continued Delia again.

Even though Delia felt pain in her heart, she tried not to shed tears. To him, it was of no use. Mitchell was no longer his. Their relationship foundered only because of a misunderstanding and jealousy of her lover.

Plus, Sarah is secretly in love with Mitchell, and takes the opportunity when Delia and Mitchell's relationship is in big trouble because of Javier Mascherano's presence.

Three years on after Delia's betrayal of Mitchell, she is back in Birmingham. However, Delia doesn't want her family to know of her coming back to the city where she had a bad past.

"Devan, can you arrange for them not to know I'm here? I just don't want them to interfere with my life anymore. Especially with Mitchell and Sarah," Delia asked her best friend.

"Why? Don't you miss your parents very much? And vice versa. Besides, sooner or later, everyone will know, Delia," Devan replied to her.

"At least, not in the near future. I want to focus on the work and business I'm still starting. Don't let the presence of people in the past disturb my calm," said Delia reasoned.

Devan, of course, didn't believe the reason Delia put forward. In her mind, Delia just wanted to forget all her past memories. In fact, unbeknownst to Delia, he had already informed his family of Delia's whereabouts. However, Devan asks them to pretend they don't know.

"Let Delia solve her past problems with Mitchell. After all, Mitch must know who Sarah really is," Devan said to Delia'sparents.

"Do you know anything about Sarah, Devan? Does that girl have anything to do with the departure of our beloved daughter?" Delia's parents asked her.

"I can't confirm that yet. But, for sure, I suspect Sarah," he answered bluntly.

"Then help us investigate this. Don't let the Mitch family keep blaming Delia for leaving on her wedding day with Mitchell. Really, as Delia's father, I don't accept the accusations of Delia's affair with Javier. Even though we did set them up in the past, both when they were both small," he said.

Devan didn't want to help. However, he also does not have solid evidence of Sarah's involvement when Delia disappeared earlier. Because no one saw the woman meeting Delia at that time.

However, he couldn't believe it when Mitchell chose to marry Sarah instead of Delia being the bride of the wedding.Devan knows very well how much Mitchell loves Delia.

However, why did this stupid man make decisions that not only hurt himself, but also caused new problems in his household with Sarah?

Devan assumed that was because he had seen him for the past few years after Mitchell's marriage to his private secretary.

How the man she used to know as a pleasant person, then turned into a cold, untouchable figure.

Delia's sudden departure makes Mitchell hate her so much. However, behind his hatred, Devan understands very well how Mitchell was hurt because of Delia.

He often saw Mitchell pensive and visited the places where the two had spent time together.

However, Mitchell was reluctant to admit his longing for his ex-fiancé.

"What if they were reunited? Will Mitchell forgive Delia?" Devan said in his heart.

Mitchell didn't understand the changes that had happened to Sarah--his wife. For some reason, day by day he disliked the woman's spoiled attitude. Although it's actually a natural thing for married couples.

However, he felt uncomfortable.Everyone already knows how their marriage started. Mitchell marries Sarah out of stress when Delia leaves for no reason on the wedding day.

Mitchell had time to think about whether Delia really had an affair with Javier Mascherano - his childhood best friend. However, the man managed to convince everyone that he was with his family when Delia disappeared.

To avoid embarrassment, and protect the family's reputation, Mitchell asked Sarah to take Delia's place. Of course, by agreement, Mitchell would divorce the woman if he found out her lover's whereabouts.

However, three years passed, and he still couldn't find Delia's whereabouts. Mitchell knew Sarah was thrilled to see this.

Mitchell wasn't ignorant of Sarah's true feelings for him. However, he never reciprocated the love of the woman who used to be his personal secretary.

He chose Delia as his life partner and mother of his future children. However, his dream was shattered when Delia left his life.

"Why would you do this to me, Delia? What have I done wrong to you?" asked Mitchell, lamenting herself.

Mitchell snapped out of his thoughts when the secretary who had taken Sarah's place in his office told him that his wife had come to see him. In fact, he had told Sarah not to come to disturb him while he was at work.

"Tell her to come in. Next time Sarah comes, just tell me I'm not in the office. This is your last warning. Got it!" said Mitchell emphatically as he spoke to his secretary.

Sarah entered a room that was already very familiar to her. Not without reason. After all, Sarah was the one who took care of all his needs when she was secretary.

But, now, Mitchell felt lazy to meet Sarah. Let alone to treat the woman as a wife. Just to talk he felt lazy and unmotivated. Even though Sarah continued to approach him.

"How many more times do I have to tell you this, Sarah? I told you never to interrupt and come see me while I'm at work. Did you forget?" Mitchell asked angrily.

"I just miss you, Mitch. What's wrong with a wife missing her husband?" Sarah told him.

"Don't have feelings for me, Sarah. Have you forgotten our agreement? So don't ever expect more from me," he replied firmly.

"I've never forgotten that, Mitch. But, at least, treat me as a wife while Delia isn't back," Sarah replied to him.

"My answer is still the same, and you know exactly what it is, right?" he answered again.

Mitchell could see the change in Sarah when he told her that. However, he did have to say everything.

He didn't want to pretend he was happy with Sarah's arrival at the office just to express his longing for him. It was very funny, he said.

"Can't you treat me like you used to? Why are you so cold and indifferent after we got married? What did I do wrong to make you do this to me?" said Sarah, questioning the change in my attitude to her.

"In the past, you were just a secretary that I used to command and, beyond that, we were just friends. Don't bother bringing up old stories if you don't want to feel pain in your heart, Sarah. I don't have much time to go over all those past memories. ' he said to Sarah.

"Are you still thinking about your ex-fiancé who left you before your marriage? Have you forgotten who the person who saved you and your family's reputation was? If you forgot, let me remind you once again who it was. And right now, that person is in front of your eyes," said Sarah, as if to corner me.

"Enough Sarah!! You've gone too far. Don't ever bring up that problem if you yourself actually enjoy yourself and are happy when I ask you to replace Della. Do you think I'm blind? I know very well that you secretly love your best friend's fiancé. Acting like you're a hero to my family as well as me. Keep that in mind, Sarah!!" I said in a high tone and scared Sarah.

"You'd better leave this place before I violently kick you out and embarrass us in front of all the employees!" he continued.

"Okay, Mitchell. Maybe I came at the wrong time. I'm sorry. You must be busy right now. I hope we can discuss this when you feel better. I'll be leaving now. Good afternoon, Mitchell... Sarah said, getting up from the sofa and then walked away from me with a thin smile etched to cover the pain in her heart.

"There's nothing more for us to discuss, Sarah. Be reasonable and don't try to pressure myself on this matter. I warned us beforehand, and this is my last warning," I replied threateningly.

Sarah left without answering my words as usual. Very strange looking. However, it is much better than having to hear all the drama he does.

Somehow he could turn into a bitch. In fact, when she became my personal secretary, she was a pleasant woman. Even to be invited to heavy discussion though.

"What's my schedule after this? If I have nothing else to do, I had better head out for lunch," I told Sarah's substitute secretary.

"Today there happened to be no meeting with anyone except for Mrs. Sarah's arrival. For tomorrow's schedule, you plan to have a meeting with the entire board of directors. After that, dinner with your extended family," the secretary replied to me.

""Do I have to attend that damn dinner? How unlucky my life is since I'm not with you, Della ..." he said, annoyed.

Mitchell left the office building for lunch at a famous restaurant in the city of Birmingham.

He should have taken Sarah to lunch with him when his wife came to visit earlier. However, he was too lazy to make small talk with Sarah.

Lunch alone was something he had always done since Della left. He felt uncomfortable when another woman took the place of his ex-fiancé, even if it was just for lunch.

Admittedly, unconsciously, he had hurt a woman named Sarah who is now his wife. However, all of this was done because he subconsciously knew Sarah liked him secretly.

"Women ... Good at hiding their feelings. Pretending to be uncomfortable when I asked her to replace Della at the altar. But, actually, deep down, she was very happy," Mitchell said, talking about Sarah's attitude to himself with a cynical smile .
