Chapter 1 - Golden Room

On a vast green plain, a man with dirtied clothes of yellow color smudged with mud, gasped for breath as he kept on running without pause.

The number 045 on the chest side of what seemed like a prisoner's clothes was fading because of multiple scratches and dirt.

His trousers are torn and have hand marks on them, a mark that someone has tried to grab onto his ankles in desperation of their plight.

"Just a little more, the border, it's near"

With newfound vigor, he ran faster. After a little while, he was so close to the line separating the country he was held captive and the peaceful south. But before he even crossed that line,

*Clink* A sound of clicking resounded from where he stepped, and then,

*BOOM!*

***************

He thought he was gone, but maybe after all the bad luck he had in his life, a blue light seemed to engulf him within that of the explosion and surrounded his body protecting him from the blast.

After the blue light receded, he slumped down with his chest literally beating wildly as it goes up and down with vivid moving.

He held his chest, feeling his heart beating.

'I'm alive'

He held his feet and forearm.

'I did not lose a limb.'

He looked at the number on his chest.

'I'm still 045.'

After breathing roughly for some moment, he finally calmed down. He raised his head and what he saw were items. Items that are displayed in glasses.

He moved his head in wonder at the gold-colored ceiling, gold-colored floor, and gold-colored chandelier.

Then, he moved his body to look at his back, and what he saw was a door with a swirling mass of blue water-like substance in it. He blinked at it a few more times. Then suddenly, the blue swirl slowly deemed down from its edges to the center until none of it was left.

What is left of the door was a hard wall of dirt.

***************

He stood up and cautiously walked to the door. After some hesitation, he touched its golden frame.

'It's cold'

He then pondered, and finally decided to close it. But he opened it again, and sure enough, the blue swirl did not appear again.

He tried it once more. He also did it after counting an interval. Or even after praying to the god that they were taught in his prison home. But, nothing happened. Only the hard rock is there to welcome him every time he opens it.

After closing it, he touched the doorknob and slowly felt its coldness. And after a while, his eyes turned wet, and tears rolled down as his hiccups resounded in the golden room.

***************

"S-Sunbae!"

"After all this running, it looks like only you will survive from all of us J-Junior, haha, it looks like I'm shot too, haha"

*Ugh* Blood flowed out from his mouth

"S-Sunbae, you're a-alright! Ok!?"

"Ha-haha, if you reached south, go to college, they say there are idols in there. The ones we peeked at the officer's TV, Ha-haha"

"Don't t-talk, I'll carry you!"

"Dumbass, haha, just run~"

The man then pushed the guy in front of him before finally falling and losing his life.

The guy then looked at him and ran with all he can with tears and snot running down his nose.

***************

He smashed the closed door with his fist and banged it while wailing.

"We should have just tried living until our deaths there! It's not so bad to live in a prison from birth since I have all of you! But, what now!? I'm fucking alone!"

"Live in a life full of freedom? Freedom for what? We're all dead! I might be in heaven or hell now too after stepping on a landmine!"
