Chapter 26 - Lucy

"She is pretty!"

"Yeah and hot!"

"Her power level is 100!"

"Wow! That's incredible!"

Just as walked into the school compound, we saw students gathered around and mumbling among themselves. Out of curiosity, we strolled up to them and just as I was about to walk into the crowd, I received a system notification.

'Just a messenger? And her power level is that high!' I thought as I stared at my screen. Even Ruben who is a Lord apprentice isn't that powerful so what is so special about this person that makes her stronger than him?

"Hey, let's go take a look at the new girl," Ruben motioned to me.

I nodded and waved the screen off my face before following him into the crowd. As I walked to the front, I saw the demon. Just like the students claimed, she looked very pretty and had a nice figure. Her long white hair reached her waist and she had a bow and arrow behind her back. Seeing her, she looked quite interesting.

"Who can show me around?" I heard her ask as she looked around the crowd of students.

"Me!"

"No, me!"

All the students chorused as they tried to make her choose any of them. She simply looked at them one after the other until her eyes fell on me. She had large ocean-blue eyes that looked tempting.

"You!" She said, pointing at me.

I ignored her and looked somewhere else but then she began to approach me with a smile curved on her lips.

"I'm talking to you, do you mean to be rude to me even on my first day here?" She spoke once she got close to me.

"This kid again!"

"Why should he be the one she's now speaking with?"

"This kid makes me sick!"

She turned to stare at the students throwing insults at me and then smirked. Facing me, she spoke again. "It seems like they hate you and you aren't bothered by it?"

"What can I help you with?" I asked impatiently. I cared less if the students all hate me because I have gotten used to the treatment — it has already become part of me so why should I worry about it?

"Take me around the school since it's my first time, I don't want to end up getting lost," she replied.

I laughed inwardly at her request. What does she take me for? A guide or what?

"Go find someone else and don't cross paths with me!" I said and then walked away from the place. I really wanted to find out who she is and why she is stronger than Ruben. If she will be a threat to me or a helper. All these I would like to know as soon as possible but not by licking her ass.

I went to my class and took my seat, there were only a few students in the class for now and so we have to wait till the others show up. As I sat down, a deep sigh left my lips as I thought about last night's event — Mia's case to be specific.

It still baffled me that she could hurt me the way she did, I never thought a day would come when she will raise her hand against me or even try to kill me. What should be the reaction of our parents if at all, they are watching us from wherever they are? I'm sure that they will be disappointed.

Now, I'm beginning to see why Mike suddenly changed overnight. Back then, I was wondering why he suddenly became too close to me and Mia — So much that he accepted Mia without even thinking about it. So, this was his plan? He had planned it all along. To use Mia and get to me but why?

"Bro, what's you?" Ruben asked as he yanked me.

"How do you mean?" I asked back, looking up to meet his gaze.

"I've been standing here for over fifteen minutes yet, you didn't notice me!" He replied.

"I was absentminded but you should have gone straight to your seat than standing here," I said.

"Idiot! That's because you look worried, is it about your sister?" He asked.

"Sort of!" I replied.

"Sort of? Or. . .Could it be Mike?"

I kept silent and didn't answer him, after a while, he slapped his palm on the desk, causing the students to turn and look at him.

"I knew that bastard was up to no good!" He groaned as he stared into space.

"Why do you conclude so?" I questioned.

"Don't you feel something is off about him? I don't know how he was before but each time I get close to him, my demon sense keeps telling me that he is evil. Come to think of it, he hasn't been in school for quite some time now, likewise your sister. There is something fishy about this whole thing—"

"Are you saying that there is a possibility that he could be holding her hostage?" I asked, cutting through his words.

"Not exactly," he replied, making me more confused about what he said.

"Then?"

"The thing is that Mia truly likes him from what I've noticed but he is using that affection to achieve his goals. He looks like an ambitious person and the likes of him are ready to do anything just to win. Well, I don't know for sure but I don't think he is holding her hostage."

It's just as I've thought but what could be his ambition? And how does it relate to me?

"It seems like the days ahead will be troublesome for me," I mumbled with a sigh.

"Don't worry, bro, you got me!"

I looked at Ruben and he shook his head in response. Should I be grateful for being friends with him? I guess it's a good thing I didn't hesitate to become his friend or I will end up having difficulties in dealing with problems, with him by my side, I'm sure that I will be able to find out what the real issue is.

Soon after, our teacher walked into our class and began to teach us — repeating things he had taught before. After all his stories which lasted for a whole three hours, he carried his things and left the class.

Just as Ruben and I were about to walk out of the class, the new girl walked inside and blocked our way.

"How about I join you guys for lunch?"She asked with a smile.

"I told you to not cross paths with me, didn't I?" I asked with a frown.

"Well, you did but sadly, I don't like taking orders from anybody. I only obey mine!" She replied with a cunning smile.

"You—" Just as I was about to say something, Ruben moved closer to me and whispered something to my ears. I looked at him and then frowned deeply. "Suit yourself then!" I said and then walked past them.
