Chapter 5 - Tripartite Elements

When I had closed my eyes, my spiritual eyes were made open and from a distance, I could see clusters of red, purple and dark-purple stars floating together.

'The red stars represent the fire element while the purple ones represent the. . . Lightning! It's the lightning element! I fucking awakened the lightning element!' Words could not express how happy and shocked I became the moment I knew that I awakened the lightning element–the coolest and the most destructive of all elements. Ha! In the entire school, I am the only one with this element, I couldn't wait to see the look on everyone's faces. 'But hold on, what do the dark-purple stars represent?'

The moment they sensed my presence, they made weird sounds and immediately created a path made of smaller stars that led into my soul. I guess this is what they call a star path. After the star path was formed, the whole stars moved directly into my soul and from where I was standing, I felt so strong. It was a new kind of feeling and energy.

'Three!' I yelled inwardly. 'I awakened three elements?' I was super excited now.

"Hey! Look! That dumb kid just awakened the fire element!"

I opened my eyes after hearing what the student said, my palm was covered in flames and it was already spreading, melting the ice away. Finally, Ruben opened his eyes and looked at me.

"Thanks, bro!" He muttered and withdrew his hand.

Now, I was left alone, together with the awakening staff and orb. The flames were still spreading and so I had to stop them from doing so otherwise it'll harm everyone in the hall. I began to gradually direct the flames back into my body and soon, the flames all disappeared.

After that was done, I still had my palm on the orb, I was waiting for the lightning element to come out because I wanted everyone to see it.

"What's happening?" The Dean was the one who asked, his face was filled with shock as he stared at me.

Yes! This was what I wanted–for everyone to be in shock and admiration of me.

"The orb is becoming purple! Is that not the—"

"The lightning element!"

"Hell no! How the hell is that even possible?"

"No one has ever awakened the lightning element in this school, so how did he do it?"

"Must be some trick or something!"

"Yes!"

From where I was standing, I listened to everyone's comments and I could not help but shake my head. These people! Can't they just accept the fucking reality of things?

I sighed and watched as the orb turned entirely purple and from where I was standing, streaks of purple light formed and surrounded me, giving me a purple kind of vibe.

"It's beautiful!"

"Why didn't I just awaken that element?"

I looked at most of their faces and they were filled with jealousy, they want to awaken my element? In their dreams! As long as I'm concerned, I'll be the only one with this element in the entire school and even the entire world if possible.

"Two down, one more to go!" I mumbled as I dispelled the lightning traits surrounding me.

Hearing the system's notification, I squinted my eyes. 'Why is that so?' I asked.

I watched as the orb that was slightly turning to dark purple stopped and return to its original colour and then I sighed in relief.

"Kid, you are indeed great! You are the first kid to awaken such an element in the entire school and this city and I am proud of you! And you even went as far as awakening two elements at once! This is a great day for the school!" The Dean said after I withdrew my hand from the orb. I stared at his smiling face and I could not help but feel somewhat disgusted by him.

'Licking asses, huh?' I wasn't great then when I couldn't awaken any element but now that I did, I become great?'

"If there's anything you need, come straight to my office," he added with a beam.

"Let's go!" I turned and said to Ruben.

"Are you not going to say something to him, he might get angry with you," Ruben said, referring to the Dean who was still waiting for my reply.

"You can as well, thank him on my behalf but as for me, I'm off!" I replied and began to walk away.

"Sir, my friend, he says thank you!" I heard Ruben say to the Dean who chuckled.

"It's nothing, it's nothing!" He responded while still laughing.

I walked out of the hall despite the mumbling words of those who perhaps were irritated by how disrespectful I was towards the Dean, I got to my class and went straight to my seat and then sat down to rest a bit.

"System, show me my stats!"

I didn't know how I slept off but when I woke up, I was surrounded by rather unfamiliar faces.

"Bro, you are awake!" I heard Ruben talk beside me, I raised my head and saw him sitting on the desk by my right side.

"What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be in your class?" I asked with a light frown.

"Eh, look around you," he replied with a grin.

I turned and looked around, many unfamiliar faces with few familiar ones. I became confused, did I mistake my class for theirs or they mistook theirs for mine?"

"What happened? Why the changes?" I asked.

"Well, it's the school's decision," Ruben replied with a shrug. "The school separated us all from those who are still unable to awaken."

"And I heard they are still not done with the separation!" This time around, it was Erin who replied as she walked to us, together with Eva and Sean.

"How do you mean?" I asked, totally confused at the moment.

"Later in the day, some devices in the form of wristwatches will be shared to all the students in the school, these wristwatches will determine our power level and so we will then be separated by our power level," she explained.

"How do you know?" I asked again.

"It doesn't matter how I know," she replied with a straight face.

Just as we were arguing, a teacher walked into our class.
