"Aren't we supposed to see a girl ?" Mephilesto asks, "Because i don't see anyone here"
"It's because she's invisible" Light explains, "I mean, she's a guiding spirit, why would she be gone ?"
"Oh well, there's no point in wasting time looking for her" Mephiles says.
They walk through the forest, Mephilesto and Light were unable to tell how far they walked, since the path was always the same.
Suddenly they see two figure in the distance: a man and a dwarf.
"Where did those guys come from ?" Mephiles wonders, "Do you think they're friendly?"
"I doubt it" Light answers.
"Hey, wait!" Mephiles shouts.
Jaliel sees Light running toward him spear in hand.
"Hold up!" Jaliel calls out, "Don't attack them, they might be allies!"
"He's right" Mephiles thinks to himself
"Let's talk first, maybe we can work together" Jaliel says.
Jaliel had noticed that the spear Light is holding was no ordinary weapon
"Why would i do that ?" Light asks.
"You seem to be holding quite an interesting spear, why so ?" Jaliel asks.
"Look at it! it's normal" Light says.
"No, look at it" Jaliel says.
"What ?! It's just a spear ! I mean, i guess it isn't usual for a spear to have a ribbon attached to it, but still, it's just a spear" Light says.
Jaliel looks carefully the spear and inspects it. The tip is made of obsidian and carved with runes.
"So you are a god slayer ?" Jaliel asks.
"Why would you ask that ?" Light asks back.
"Because if that's the case you seek the same thing as i do" Jaliel says, "My name is Jaliel, son of the great angel, i was cursed by the winter god and now i seek to take revenge"
"Sounds like a fun quest" Light replies.
"you know, anyone in their right mind would think twice before going on a quest to kill gods." Jaliel says, "I'm glad to meet someone else as crazy as me"
"Well, as long as we're all crazy together, it'll be fine" Light laughs.
***
"We should start with this one" Jaliel says, pointing at a city close to the border between heaven and hell"
"What about the other ones ?" Light asks.
Jaliel and Light are drinking and planning their next move, they planned to complete Jaliel's task of retrieving the artifact for the mayor, which was stolen by the demons.
"You know, most demon with such a powerful artifact would avoid the border" Mephilesto replied, "they'll probably try to go somewhere more peaceful instead of risking such a treasure"
"Maybe we should head to the human lands?" Jaliel suggests.
"They aren't much better than us, in fact, they are even worse. They don't have any kind of technology and worship the gods instead of fearing them." Light replies.
"Yeah, but at least they have some civilization, we may find more info there" Jaliel says
"If the humans were so advanced, they wouldn't have fallen, they lack the intelligence to build something like that." Light says.
"True, but maybe there's someone else who built it? Maybe it was a group of humans who managed to survive the fall?" Jaliel asks.
"That sounds like a good idea, let's check it out" Light nods.
***
Humans have always been the weakest race of all the races, they are almost useless to the other races, unable to use magic.
But there was once a group of humans who had the gift of using magic, the greatest geniuses of all time.
The gods took advantage of this gift and tried to enslave them, forcing them to fight each other for their amusement.
After the battle, the humans were banished from the heavens, leaving only a few scattered island.

"So, to recap, first we go to human lands, there we seek knowledge about the artifact, then we head out to seek the demons who stole that artifact, we retrieve it, confirm with the mayor that it's the right artifact and then ?" Mephilesto asks,
"We find the winter god and make him pay !" shouts Jaliel.
"Great plan !" says Light, "yet i can feel something is lacking about it"
"Yes, I'm sure you're right" says Jaliel
"Hmmm, what could that be?" Light ponders.
"Why would we stop at the mayor ?" Mephilesto asks
"He already knows the artifact is stolen, he will just ask us if we have retrieved it, so that he can be sure take it was taken back from the demons" Jaliel answers.
"But i'm half-demon!" Mephiles shouts.
"Don't worry, Light and I can easily convince him otherwise" Jaliel says.
"I don't think so! He sees through your lies!" Mephiles argues.
"How would you know that ?" whispers Light.
"I am a god, you really need another explaination ?" Mephiles says.
"What about the dwarf what do we do with him?" Mephilesto adds.
"I think i might just leave, i don't see myself working with more outcast, i have better things to do, call me back when you're alone Jal' !" replied the dwarf sneaking out of the inn.
Jaliel and Light looked at each other, both were shocked, not by the dwarf leaving but by his last words.
"You heard that?" Light asked.
"Well, yes, but it doesn't matter, we'll go back to the city and find some way to get to the human lands." Jaliel said
