When I first entered the premises, I noticed that the interior was not only extremely spacious, but also filled with greenery that contrasted with the Holy Tree, creating an overall atmosphere of tranquilly and serenity. I also felt a lot of calm and enhancing energy, I'm not sure if it was energy or mana flowing from that tree, but my body was able to absorb the mana or energy that I was feeling.
Furthermore, there were already several people inside this large courtyard, both Humans and Elves. I have my doubts about these people being council assassins or ordinary citizens.
While I was admiring the beautiful scenery within and suspecting things, the guard leading the way abruptly came to a halt in front of a building before politely signaling me to enter.
The "Management" title was engraved on the building's entrance, and the building was perfectly constructed to maintain the serene appearance of the place.
I nodded to the guard with a smile before gently opening the building's door.
I walked in slowly after the guard had left.
Looking inside, It was a completely silent atmosphere with no workers or office-like ambience. Only an an old man past his prime, with all his facial features showing a sharp appearance. He sat in a chair with his eyes closed, almost like meditating. Not to mention his Elven pointed ears, with pure white hair tied in the back, and cleanly shaved face, he appears old, but I can see he should've been a good looking man in his prime.
However, I think I've seen him somewhere before. From where did I recognize him?
Suddenly, the old man unleashed a torrent of mana. I was able to instantly counteract it by reinforcing my body. Is this man testing me or something?
If that's how you're going to play, I'm not going to let this man sense my aura or mana. I made a mana cloth with wind elemental mana, just like the Skill Blue Grim Thought me while adventuring. I've mastered the skill now that I'm a light orange core mage.
"Is this master Waylen Faelar?"
The guards addressed him as master, so I figured I'd use the same title if he's Waylen Faelar.
"Are you Ethan Asher?" The Old Man said as he slowly opened his eyes.
When he opened his eyes, it was as if there was no trace of old age, but rather his eyes seemed particularly enigmatic and filled with wisdom, but from the perspective of an assassin, he had a gaze that could kill someone on contact.
Sure enough he had his mana concealed from sensing. Is he a member of...the council?
The place is called Holy, but there are many Killers inside.
I respectfully nodded before settling into one of his chairs. He was watching me thought every move I made.
"I had no idea you were such a handsome young man. Good!" With a smile on his face, he said.
The one thing I've noticed since entering this world is that anyone who looks at me angrily or intimidatingly, quickly softens or calms down when they see my face. As an assassin as well as a young man, I'm grateful to the gods who reincarnated me. Now, th e same thing have happened to this Old man Waylen Faelar.
"Thank you, master Waylen!" I smiled and replied accordingly.
He smiled again in satisfaction. I guess he now took a like to me. With a gentle smile on his face, he asked, "You are here to take your third trail right?" he asked.
"Yes." I said without any hesitation.
"Mm. Determination, courage, intelligence, ingenuity, physical fitness, and, most importantly, a good poker face. You're certainly qualified for the next trial. Hmm, I'm impressed!" He said.
He noticed my every actions. That's an professional assassin for ya.
"Your mana concealment technique was unlike any other and the strongest I've seen in all these years. Even among professionals." He chuckled, not lingering on the previous topic.
"It's all thanks to my mentor Blue Grim's guidance." I responded politely.
"Very good! Boy, the upcoming test will be the last trail for you. And if you pass the test, you will be the Council of Assassins' third youngest assassin and the new record breaker!"
So there's someone my age working as an assassin?
"I don't understand, Master!"
"Our council has an assassin code named 'Rogue Wind,' who joined at the age of 14. She is now a young lady in her late adolescence. Then next the same Rogue Wind's disciple, code named 'Rogue Angel' who is one or two years older than you. You're only eleven years old and if you pass, you will be the new record holder here!" He exclaimed proudly.
With a code name like Angel... I'm guessing she's a girl. I'm curious if I'll be able to meet the two of them, and I can't help but wonder what managed to drive them to join and work as assassins.
