Today, all the graduating students were meant to appear at school because today would be the day of their graduation ceremony. As usual, those who scored the highest would be awarded for their efforts, while everyone would be given their certificates to show that they have graduated from high school.
"I can't believe that my little termite is finally becoming a bug termite!" Amanda couldn't contain her joy as she hugged her brother tightly. She could remember vividly her own graduating ceremony. Her friends were hugging her tightly as they all shared that special moment of their lives together. Now, years later, they were now distant, having gone their separate ways pursuing their ambitions not keeping in contact with each other.
A tear threatened to drip down her cheeks. Maintaining her composure, she had to remind herself that this was her brother's time to shine. Taking out a box from their attic, she brought it in front of Jim.
"This ring belonged to our father. Its one of the things he left us before he..." Amanda couldn't find the strength to finish her sentence. Noticing her weakness, Jim placed a hand on her shoulder, telling her it was alright. Having lost most of his emotions, muscle memory still allowed him to do what was best in the current situation.
"You don't have to feel bad, sister. It's not your fault," Jim said firmly.
Wiping her tears, Amanda took out the ring from the box, and handed it over to him. "It suits you," she said, as the left his room, getting ready for today's work.
The ring was dark purple in colour with an octahedral shape. Its fine surface reflected the light entering the room from the window. Turning his hand around, he inspected the ring further.
Looking at the time, he went down stairs to have breakfast, after which he headed to school. Amanda said she would come to his school during the speech and prize giving ceremony. In the meantime, the graduating students were allowed to enjoy themselves in the school hall while the other students were receiving their prizes for their efforts.
Jim had met up with Tyler and Blake in the school hall where they decided to head to the back of the senior section to watch movies and play video games on their laptops; their usual choice of activities whenever they choose to get together.
Jim's eyes had made contact with June's, but he turned away, focusing his attention back on the movie he was watching. June was with her three friends as well, having fun and chatting about their futures. Suddenly, Daniel had appeared from behind, placing his arm around her power back.
Everyone turned around to see what was going on. Not too long ago, news had spread of Daniel and June's relationship. They had quickly become the hottest topic in less than twenty-four hours. Although no one knew how these two became an item, they didn't care as they were just excited to be in the presence of actual celebrities.
They both had influencial parents whole worked closely with the school to ensure that KeyStone High provided its students with what they needed to the best of their abilities. However, that wasn't the reason why they were popular amongst their fellow students.
Earlier that day, a mass text message had been sent to all the graduating students stating that there would be a secret get together happening at four right after the graduation ceremony was over. It was meant to serve as an opportunity for them to frolic and have fun with each other until they would go for holiday.
The venue for the party was said to be one of Daniel's father's complexes in the city. Apparently, his dad had agreed to him throwing a party at his house. Everyone was so excited for the party, that they showed zero interest towards the current event. All they could talk about was the things they would do later.
Daniel led June over to the snack table offering her some snacks. It was clear he was trying to make the other guys jealous of him by being super affectionate towards her. He even went as far as feeding her the snacks in front of everyone present. A bunch of people brought out their phones taking photos and making videos of them and posting them online. Surely, their presence alone was able to elevate the social statue of many senior students present.
Most of the boys didn't feel comfortable going on as they balled their fists and gritted their teeth in anger. However, one amongst them chose to act. Stepping forward, he threw an insult at Daniel. Coming closer, he pulled his fist back ready to deliver a punch to the face, but the fist was grabbed midswing, and a hit to the abdomen had knocked the wind out of him, causing him to fall to his knees.
It was clear that the athlete was too much for the boy to handle as his body slumped against the floor, the pain too much for him to bear leading him to loose consciousness. Daniel's gaze soon shifted towards the other jealous people in the room, and that was enough to make them all look away. Daniel wasn't the top athlete of KeyStone High for nothing.
His boys had also made it with their dates. It was clear no one wanted to be single as they all flauned their significant other. They effortlessly ruled the dance floor leaving everyone mesmerized by their grace and elegance.
While all this was going on, at the other end of the large room, Jim was still enjoying his movie peacefully. If it we're before, he would have been filled with rage upon seeing the love of his life with another, most especially someone h hated with all his heart, but that was it, it was all in the past. After all he had experienced so far, love was the last thing on his mind as he had no problem seeing June with another. At this point, he couldn't even feel any form of affection towards her.
'I guess it was all superficial love in the first place,' Jim thought, an image of her appearing in his head. It made sense for him to have been captivated purely by the physical since she was well endowed in all the right places more than any other girl in the school. But there was also her sweet, caring, and alpha female charisma that made him swoon over her in the past. Death had taken away his interest in those aspects of her.
In the middle of a suspenseful scene, a girl appeared in front of him, vying for his attention. Pausing the movie, he turned to face her. The girl wore large pink circular glasses and had brown hair left to flow beyond her shoulders. Her name was Sidney Williams.
Although the two wouldn't normally talk to each other. She found it strange that she had approached him now of all times, but instead of thinking too much about it, he chose just to go with the flow. Sidney was a nice girl who.always loved to help those around her, however, she would never get herself involved in anything that would put herself at risk, which was why they never interacted much before, but after June had stuck to her promise, things had quickly started to change for Jim Wesley.
Since they barely knew eachother, the two didn't have much to talk about that they could relate with, so instead they chose to collect eachother's phone number to keep in touch.
Hours later, the graduation ceremony took place as planned. The top students had been called forward to receive their prizes and once everything was over and done with, everyone went back home, ready and prepared for what was to take place at four that day. Amongst these students, Jim wasn't exited for whatever was going to take place as he told his friends he wouldn't be coming.
